This review is for their TheEMSStore.com operation, which is another version of Witmer, Inc. Everyone is very nice on the phone and via email, but the time frame to ship orders seems to really fall behind with no update. I ordered a zip-up fleece on December 27 and was told 20 business days. I confirmed this later due to the item being on back order and was told the order would ship by 1/28/2020. I called today and was told that it was in the final stages and would ship in 2-3 more business days. (Needless to say, this isn't 20 business days nor does it match what I was previously told.) While the call center representative that I just spoke to was beyond nice, I'm very disappointed that I will not have this item in time for me to work this weekend. The time estimates are very much mere estimates. You never receive notifications of delays. And the delays to ship once the order is completed border on legendary. The only thing that's not delayed is the almost instantaneous charge to your credit card. Yet, because they are one of the few places that has many of these uniform and outerwear items for individual orders, they have a virtually captive audience, including me. I ordered on 11/22, said it should take a couple of weeks. In 2 weeks they sent an email that they are starting on my order, 2 weeks later still nothing. Its been 4 weeks. First time I sent a message it took over a week to hear back, this time no reply. Very disappointed and not going to recommend the fire store to purchase from. read more

Do not order from here (or any of their affiliate stores) if you need something in a timely manner. I placed an order on 11/27. On 12/5 I called customer service to see if there was any tracking or shipping information available, as I hadn't been sent anything other than an order confirmation. Customer service was polite, but I was told my order wouldn't be shipping until 12/30! That's over a month after I placed the order! They weren't able to give me a tracking number either. Placed an online order Aug 12, 2018. It is now Oct 23, 2018. The site states Order to ship Nov 27, 2018. There was NO indication when I placed my order that the items were on such a long back order. Transparency in business is vital to keep a customer's trust. Use ANYONE else. Call ahead to see if the item is available. They do not stock my items. They ordered them AFTER I placed an order. Then they wait until they get it to ship it to you. Instead the item should drop ship from the manufacturer if that is the case. Very dissatisfied with "The Fire Store". Will not purchase from again. And by the way, my phone call to customer service was not acceptable. The CS person made excuses about how the wildland gear was made out of special material. No Kidding! if I could give zero reviews I would. ordered gauntlet gloves online and they sent me wristlet gloves. called customer service and they said that I received the correct gloves even when I sent them photo evidence they were the wrong gloves. then they told me there were no returns or exchanges on my item. so basically they stole $175 from me and are leaving me with gloves I'll never use and still no gloves for fire academy. worthless company. read more

Nice store for your supplies. Store sits back off the road a great deal, so know where you are going. Location is across from the Helicopter Plant off Rt.30. This store is for adults of course. Would definitely recommend this store for your needs. You are able to order online from any one of there locations. Give them a try. I have been back and all was good. This was in mid August. It is now September 12,2017 and I ordered a Holster to come in and pick up later, I'll let you know how this goes. About 4 years ago a firefighter girlfriend of mine asked me if I've ever heard of Coatesville, PA. I was surprised to hear her ask that because it's not something that comes up often. I told her yes as that is where my parents live. She said she found this online store that has a store in Coatesville. When I went to visit my parents we took a ride and found out they just moved into a beautiful new building and were now located approximately one mile from my parents. They have everything you can possibly think of for firefighting and police equipment and safety wear. A huge selection of boots, gloves and everything in between. Now everytime I come home for a visit I make it a point to stop in and have a look around. You can shop online 24 hours a day but this store is only open Mon-Fri and on Saturdays til about 2pm. They are very helpful in here. I ended up buying a pair of gloves for the gf and the store said they could be returned by mail if they didn't fit right. They keep all your information in the computer so they have a record of whatever you've purchased to make any needed returns very easy. My parents are also addicted and my Dad now gets all his work boots here. They carry every size imaginable. read more

I ordered some boots from them on a Wed. on Thursday I called to see when they would ship they said the order was on hold because the shipping address was different than the billing address and they needed to verify with me. on Friday it still had not shipped they said they would send it 2nd day Air since it was delayed but it would not go out until Monday. On Monday they called once again to verify the shipping address and said it would not go out until Tuesday . I canceled the order. They have no clue when it comes to online orders. Dear The Fire Store. Please set default shipping to ship as available, include all shipments for one flat/ one single shipping fee, and drop ship non-stocked our out of stock items directly from the manufacturer to customer. There's a great selection of products on their website and they have good pricing. However, many items aren't stocked or are on back order and the problem is they order products to their warehouse then ship out to you versus drop shipping from the manufacturer. This takes a lot of time and with the complete shipment option a single out of stock item means your order sits on hold. You can have items shipped as available but each order will incur a shipping charge and their shipping is already a little expensive. read more

It breaks my heart to Leave The FireStore. I have been a solid customer for 10-15 years, when Jim Witmer and his family ran it. This was my go-to online store for fire equipment and supplies. A recent experience has both disappointed me and cause me to take my business elsewhere. I purchased a wallet with custom badge cutout in 2017. Using it every day for the last two years, it was time for a new one. The original 2017 order didn't show the actual part number, so I checked with The FireStore to make sure the wrong one wasn't ordered. Well, I proceeded with the order on their confirmation I was ordering the right one. Sure enough it was not the correct (same one from 2017) one. Their Customer Service Center staff were polite, and after asking me to send photos, said to return it. Then I got an email that because it was a "custom" cut for the badge, they would not refund the money. They did, however, show me the original order from 2017 which revealed the correct part number. So, I hastily have ordered the correct wallet, now have the incorrect wallet that they would not refund, and will be using other sites for my emergency service related product needs. I'm not sure at what point Witmer Public Safety Group became so "corporate" but their lack of taking care of their customers is causing me to look elsewhere. Second call received e-mail stating supplier shipped it, never received.....End of story. Now I had to order again to match what I received, slight kick in the pants right were my wallet rests. I ordered a badge and the website misrepresented what I was getting. When we called to complain of the inferior product they said send it back. Upon them getting it back they called me and said the product was not damaged and no refund would be given. Not even a partial refund or credit. So I ordered a helmet shield about a month ago. It came a few weeks ago (very early) and I've had it on the helmet for roughly a week. I noticed that the reflective numbering was starting to bubble. The helmet had yet to see any fire. I called customer service three days ago (Friday) and spoke to Suzanne. She stated that she would reach out to the company that makes the shields, however, considering it was late Friday afternoon, they would probably not get back to her until Monday. No problem. Fast forward to today (not even 2.5 days later), and a new shield arrives in the mail. Good job and thank you to Suzanne and the company that makes the shield. Give her a raise read more

I made an internet purchase in March 2016 at The Officer Store (The Fire Store) and received the items ordered in a timely fashion. During the online ordering process, my first credit card did not go through on their system. I then used another credit card to complete my purchase. Shortly after I noticed two fraudulent charges on both credit cards entered on their website. I was able to get reimbursed from my credit card company but still had to deal with getting new cards, putting alerts on my credit file and changing passwords. THANKS guys for employing thieves!!! Orderd a hat had it custom made. I waited over 30days to get it. I wore it for 3 days a noticed a fated line appearing on the front. I washed the hat by hand 3 times to see if it was dirt and didn't change. I contacted customer service and they checked with the embroidery department and they said it was because of sweet. I call bull shit on the Fire Store. I have had the same brand of hat and never had them fade and they wash the sweet away. I would like to preface my write up with the fact that I am not someone who writes reviews often, but this is something I felt other consumers needed to hear. I placed an order with "thefirestore.com / officerstore.com" the last week of July for two items. Due to being so close to its location in Coatesville a week or so prior I drove out to try to pick these items up personally. I was told that "they do not hold those items in stock and I would have to order them online." What the gentlemen working that day should have offered is to order them for me and have them shipped to my house free of charge because they could not produce the items I drove on site to purchase, but they didn't. So I placed the order online. A few days later I received an email stating that one of the items I had ordered was on back order. I waited a week or so and did not hear anything further from them so I called. The man taking my call informed me that my item had not been included in the shipment they received from the original manufacturer of the item. I asked him what my expected turn around time would be given my newly informed status. He became aggravated and said there was nothing he could do because it was the manufacturer that would determine that based upon when they shipped the item. I asked him to let me know when he found out. A few days later I received an email stating that the item had been shipped from the manufacturer to the firestore/officersstore and once they received it they would send it to me. Why wasn't the item just shipped to me the final consumer? The order was finally shipped to me the first week of september. Upon arrival the box contained only one of the two items I ordered. It took them another 2 weeks for an associate of the firestore to contact me. When they did they informed me that the remaining item was discontinued and they could not ship it. They offered no alternative option or consolation for my inconvenience. So the time they took over the course of 1 month to get the first item to me they completely failed to mention that the other item I had ordered they didn't have too! All I received was "I understand your frustration and I apologize." As I mentioned previously I have purchased many things from this company over the years and after this experience it truly shows they have no regard for their consumers even the ones in their own backyard. If i could give this review no stars I would. I would NEVER purchase another thing from this company again. read more

Horrendous customer service. DO NOT SHOP HERE! I purchased a fire helmet with several gift cards and my debit card. I returned the helmet and the store refunded over $700 to a non reloadable gift card. The fire store has my returned product AND my $700 and refuses to refund me! I think it's unbelievable that the fire store cannot reverse the transaction and CORRECTLY refund my purchase in the manner it was paid. I ordered a pair of boots & a pair of pants from them. The pants showed up, the boots backordered but, they still charged me $359...as if the order were shipped complete. The customer service girl on the phone was rude & interrupted me several times. There was no way to cancel the order. I have to wait for the backordered items to ship(they haven't even left the warehouse yet) just so I can ship them back for a refund. Bad, bad business & even worse customer service. read more

Ordered wild land equipment appeared to be in stock on the web site. this was a recommended site from others. I place the online order and my card was never charged , no email, no call. so I called today (a week later) and found the product is out of stock and backordered. Who knew? oh yeah they did. it was going to be an additional 15+ days. would have been good to know, I canceled the order and went to amazon in stock ships today similar price no shipping. My department uses a debit card system for purchases. I purchased a Paul Conway helmet in February 2013. The helmet had to be returned for obvious defects (nice QC dept). In the time within the return, my department switched banks for debit cards. I have worked with the banks and they stated and proved the money wa sent back to the Fire Store. I have been online and on the phone with them once a month since this occured, they say they have it figured out, then forward me to the accounting department. The woman in the accounting department never answers her phone, I always leave a message with phone number to contact me. I have never ever recieved a phone call from the Fire Store. I will attempt one more time since it is past the anniversary date of order. BEWARE of any purchase from the Fire Store if you find the need to return. They do not seem to be that bright. They are very nice on the phone at the onset though, so they have that going for them. There are many places to purchase fire products from...please take a look and avoid this place. read more
