PCA works very hard to maximally charge insurance and patients…read more I have gone to PCA for several years. As a physician (a specialist who cares for very complicated patients), I know what constitutes reasonable billing codes and when to apply them. In early 2024, at my annual physical, I was billed a 99213--moderately complex office visit (=$89 after insurance); the billing department told me this additional billing was due to the doctor clicking on two refills for long standing, non life-threatening health concerns that were minimally mentioned at the physical. After that visit's billing, I discontinued those two medications. This year at my annual well health physical, I was again billed a 99213 (=$95 after insurance) despite not being prescribed any medication for any condition by this physician. This time, the initial billing employee told me the charge was due to my doctor's "co-management" of a chronic condition (for which I had seen my specialist two days prior and for which my primary was never involved in the care or coordination as I self referred). Then I was told that the additional billing charge was due to my occasional use of an over the counter heartburn medication and to discuss my cholesterol for which I do not receive any treatment. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 includes preventative health maintenance covered 100% by insurance. The providers at PCA and their billing department work very hard to find miniscule issues to levy additional charges for the patient +or insurance which is part of the vicious cycle (the medical-industrial complex) and contributes to ever escalating insurance premiums and patient financial harm.

If a hospital was any other way, I would be concerned! My boyfriend came to the ER once after getting hit by a truck, and his experience here was good. There was not very much waiting in the ER. I'd never been in an ER before, but no one was too serious, so I wasn't freaked out. I heard singing while sitting in the ER and saw that my fellow college students were volunteering at that moment. It really warmed my heart! I love that AMC has the volunteer partnership. The music really makes the place feel like home. I have never been a patient here, so I don't feel qualified to rate the patient experience here at all.

My daughter was given the same exact nebulizer treatment in triage, it didn't help, and we were sent to the waiting room for 2 hours. I spoke to the triage nurse, she gave my daughter another nebulizer treatment, it didn't work, sent us back to waiting room for another 3 hours. We had already tried allof this for six hours before coming in. What is the point of having an ER if you are not going to treat patients? 5+ hours in the waiting room, administering the same medications we have at home? I have never been so disappointed in AMC in my life. I suppose its to be expected. I was here 2 weeks ago for a broken elbow and a PT set it in the waiting room where they tell you the bad news in the back. Really classy. That was after 5 hours of waiting too. Didn't realize Appleton had become so terrible. ~after 30 years throughly unimpressed
