At one point I caught myself needing to listen very intensely to hear, and the sound effects from the action scenes didn't feel the same with a lower level. This location is located in Memorial City mall but is tucked towards the back with ample parking.

This is a movie theater that shows new movies same as other theaters; but these are dubbed or…read moresubtitled in Spanish. It's a great find. Not many other theaters like this in Houston. Pretty neat to come across this. So if yourself, friends, or family are looking for a place to see the newest summer blockbuster in Spanish, this is the place. It's not the fanciest theater. But as I've said in other reviews about theaters, sometimes you don't need all that. Another thing I like is that it's just a few minutes drive from Houston's Chinatown area. So if your bilingual, such as myself, and have family that prefer to watch a movie in Spanish from time to time, and you also love Asian cultures and food, this is a win win situation. Watch your movie in Spanish and head down to a Hot Pot restaurant just a few minutes away right after.

It opened last November and it's my first movie theater I'm been to since I moved to Houston over a decade ago. I also love Value Wednesday's $4.75 any time of the day. The seats are fairly comfortable. Lights are dimmed but still bright to see my way out during screening. Restroom is nice and bright. The theater staff at the counter was attentive. Don't be deterred by the prices of snacks. These are the usual movie theater prices on soda, hot dog, popcorn and nacho chips. If you want to go frugal, go upstairs food court and eat a full meal beforehand. Remember, they don't allow outside food in the theater. If your movies ended after the mall is closed, there is handful of police officers at the mall entrance with extra lighting at night. My usual place to park is in the garage, whenever I come to the mall. I've been here a few times before I added Tx America Cinemas on Yelp. The Arena Theatre might seem big from the outside looking in but once you walk the hallways and arrive to the center, seating is fairly easy to find because it is one big circle. The concessions stand offer light snacks (pretzels, popcorn, hot dog, etc) and the average well drinks. I recommend locating the WC before the lights dim so you will not walk around in circles. I do not know if it was the sound engineer for that particular night, but the vocals were off in the beginning and there was a bit of feedback interference. About halfway through the event the sound was corrected. Overall, nice intimate spot to see your favorite artists up close and personal.

When my child asked for help opening the toy packaging, they said they had nothing to open it with--although another staff member later helped my child open it. Their attitude ruined my family's enjoyable trip. I have been a loyal customer of this place and visit every time I come to Houston. I will never come back here again.

The Venue Part Deux. There are signs a-Plenty stating no food or drink in the venue. Until it is noted the drinks must remain closed a-la purchased drinks at the bar which come with a closeable top or bottles that may be again... brought with you and closeable. You can still bring your own in...but for a whopping $90 for 2 adult beverages, kid beverages, and waters at the beginning and pre order for intermission...you could have just brought in your closeable water bottle and saved the cost. This is like handing you the keys to an Aston but told not to drive it off the lot. Understandable for spillage, but not well explained. The production and sound were second to none. The only niggle I had were the inexperienced show goers behind us who continually dialogued what came next via the book, how it did not correspond to the movie, and continually picked at it. I cannot control other people...but do stay home or keep like a church mouse like the rest of us while the production was in course. I guess money can buy your way in but not common decency no matter your age bracket/demographic/wealth status. Again out of my control, so I will not hold it against the theatre. Overall. Yes. I also resonated with the positive, uplifting messaging that they are on a mission to spread through the plays - keeping it family friendly and wholesome. My family got to watch Narnia: The Musical, and we enjoyed it! Despite some technical difficulties, the musical as a whole was great! The actors are talented and up-and-coming. We had great seats and it was so engaging to watch their expressions. If I remember correctly, the seats aren't overly expensive! The interior if the building is quite nice, with long, glass chandeliers, and they currently have a Christmas tree up. Plenty of free parking. Would highly recommend for families, couples, or really anyone that would like to see a play without breaking the bank.
