8/8/2025: Cute theater with a great lineup of plays. We saw Annie and loved it! One of our friends was a leading role, so we got a group together and went to see her. The rows of seats are graduated like a small movie theater. The lighting was great. The actors wear mics to enhance the sound. The offer popcorn and snacks for purchase. You can also purchase bottled water. If you want an alcoholic drink, you must purchase a "Stageworks" tumbler for $20. It comes filled with your drink of choice on the first round and then you pay for the addition drinks with a by the glass cost. You can bring the tumbler back each time. There was a little bit of a wait at intermission for the bathrooms. Of course, us ladies always have to wait no matter the venue. The staff were great in assisting us to the other more hidden restrooms. Everyone was friendly and the night was terrific. The theater is in a shopping center. Parking is free. You can buy tickets online and then pick them up at will call. read more

Went to go see Honkey Tonk Laundry and really enjoyed. The theater is small and intimate so every seat has a good view. The seats are fabulously comfortable. Parking is $15 but right at the theater. Staff is lovely. read more

I did theater at stage works and loved it! They have fun plays and musicals for all acting levels and ages! The community is great and super supportive, all the kids and adults are so kind. They have amazing opportunities like a chance for kids to work with adults in the summer for a main-stage production, and they have JTF(Jr. Theater Festival) Where the cast goes to Atlanta Georgia to learn and grow on your theater expertise and perform and compete with a thirty minute version of a musical that you learned in the previous months. I absolutely love this theater venue. It is the perfect size - not too big and not too small. I love the more intimate settings. I have seen many plays here in the past couple of years and most recently saw Charlie Brown! I highly recommend seeing shows here. It is also super affordable compared to the Hobby center. read more

Nice local theater in a strip center. The venue is on the smaller side, but has everything it needs. The performances are good. Theater seats were comfy. Microphones attached to the actors are undectable. Definitely an older crowd make up the audience in this part of town. Snacks and other concessions are available during intermission. If it wasn't such a long drive from my part of town, I would be there more often. read more

There is very limited parking. They were out of programs for the performance I attented. There was absolutely no leg room in the seats and I had to leave an hour into the performance because it was so uncomfortable. Good thing I was able to stretch my legs on my long walk to my car since I had to park far away in a neighborhood. I wouldn't attend another performance at this theater as there are so many good community theaters around Houston. Go to a theater that has available parking and comfortable seating. read more

This is a fantastic theater to see amazing talent and awesome shows. Just saw Mama Mia - those voices! Those personalities! Just GO and support this wonderful theater. It's a small theater so there is no bad seat in the house. Wine and water is sold before the show, there is candy also but do not bring in anything but water to the show. Some shows - like ours - sold out so fast, they had to add another few shows to accommodate. The director told us many of the talent that has passed thru the doors have gone on to bigger things such as Stranger Things, and other well known shows. Also there is acting school. Last night, my husband and I went to Stageworks Theater to watch the play HARVEY, based one of our favorite movies. The acting was excellent, especially considering that the actors were not professionals. The stage is fairly small, but this didn't deter the cast and production crew from their goal. The costumes were very authentic, as were their hairstyles, correctly portraying life during WW II. All I can say is that I am very happy to have found this place. We'll return to see other productions in the future. read more

VERY impressive production of Bonnie and Clyde. Never heard of this theater before so it was a very pleasing surprise after driving 60 miles roundtrip to get there and back. Nice facility, good seating, high production values in the show with a generally terrific cast. Great pit. I'd go back for another production. read more

2 out of 3 great experiences with their summer camp program. We found the 2 week programs to be amazing. They sized the classes so that everyone has a part (or multiple parts) and stays busy during the day...and has fun! It is summer, after all. Our third experience was a disaster. We signed our daughter up for one of the three weeks classes, and quickly realized we made a mistake. Unlike the other plays that were speaking/acting, this was a dance/musical. She had very little dance experience, and was given a very small part. This resulted in her having nothing to do in the camp for a couple hours each day. It felt very much like they overbooked the camp. We took her out quickly (day 3)...but at that point you only recover 20%. $450 is a lot of money for a bad experience. Our advice... -Make sure you ask plenty of questions about the play and the parts available. You can get the scripts before hand. -If you can, try to find out how many kids they have or will accept into the play. -Meet the director! Had we done this, we would not have put our child in the dance play. The other directors were fantastic and treated the kids like a family. We weren't ready fro Broadway yet. read more

If you enjoy small community theaters, this one doesn't disappoint. I went to Houston Family Arts Center for a performance of "A Raisin in the Sun." The actors were spirited, the entire staff was super-friendly, the venue was clean and comfy. I was surprised to see that, even though the theater is located in a strip mall, there was still stadium seating. I had no problem with the close, intimate seating, but my friend felt it was a little too close for comfort, and chose end seats for us, and we still had a good view (second row, even though we bought our tickets at the box office right before the show). There was also a small concession stand for pre-show or intermission snackage (no food or drinks allowed inside the actual theatre, of course). I'll definitely be back! TIP: When planning your evening, consider going to dinner before the show, since the 7:30 performance may not let out until 10; or research nearby restaurants with later closing times. read more

Professional Quality shows to see and to work in! The talent that enters HFAC is beyond expectation for a community theater, and they put on productions to match! Their recent phenomenal production of Peter Pan was what coaxed me to audition for their production of Les Miserablés, and the professionalism they exhibit in their finished product is felt throughout the audition and rehearsal process. The amount of time volunteered by their production teams is fantastic, and their love for what they do bleeds through the art they create. Any aspects of a show, being it performing, costumes, sets or ushering, you can get in on something. They love their volunteers! Our daughter has been in 3 performances here and she always has the best time. She has made many friends and the teachers have really helped build her confidence and love of theater. She's always excited to see what the next plays/musicals on the schedule are, and she starts asking for us to sign her up before registration even opens. Everything she's been in has been very well directed and the teachers take a very active role. If you're looking for a great spot for a child that loves theater or wants to explore something new Stageworks does a great job! read more

Great performances at this community theater. I have been enjoying theatre from this company for many years. They used to have many children's performances at the Berry Center, which is just a couple blocks from my home, and I miss them tremendously. My daughter still talks about a show she watched there years ago. However, it's not too far a hike to Grant Road, and it's certainly worth the drive. Unfortunately, they don't have nearly as many children's performances, however, she has begun to develop her taste in arts to really enjoy most of the adult performances as well. The cost is fair, comparable to most theater performances. The theatre is small, but comfy. It's a little intimate theatre, however, you won't feel uncomfortable. There is a lot of talent here, and the shows are very entertaining. We usually stop by Soto's Cantina before or after the show to round out the night. No need to dress up, casual attire is acceptable. Most people wear business casual. read more

Amazing talent for both acting and singing. I'm hesitant to go there for musicals though because most of the time, they regularly use recorded accompaniment. One musical did use a live band though. This little strip mall theater in the middle of nowhere suburbs of "Siberia" is a surprisingly nice facility. It's pretty incredible how many seats they fit in this little building. This place is terrible! The made fun of my child when she was acting, she has been in a few short films, so for them to make fun of my child we could just quit and go back to what we were doing. My child was crying in the hallway and the teacher said your interrupting my class, you need to quiet down. Very unprofessional. Before they revamped the place it was a good, little family facility with volunteers. Now there are "professional" directors that don't even have a lot of fun. I do not recommend this theatre. read more

Saw Nunsence and it was the best ! Saw the sequel at Owen theater and the talent was not as good . Have enjoyed the Family Arts Center for other shows. Would recommend. Nice atmosphere. read more

I cannot vouch for the Arts Center itself, but I will say I am not impressed with "Bob" the "Financial Guy" there. My car was deeply scratched in front of what will be the additional part of the Arts Center. I observed 2 ladies (who work for the Arts Center) moving long metal ladders next to my car and when I got home I saw the scratches from being scraped by a ladder. The tenant next door observed the same thing I did, yet "Bob" denies that they were involved at all. He was defensive from the get-go and acted like a jerk. I hope the Arts center is good because what I encountered with "Bob" demonstrates he lacks integrity and I certainly would not do business with him. read more
