    The Bard's Bounty

We had a ton of fun at The Bard's Bounty, a D and D inspired improv show with actual dice rolls. We had a ton of fun. This was my first time to this venue and we will definitely be back.

    My 50th birthday event!

If you want an entertaining, fun outing this is the place to have your party or event. I had 15 people there, on a Saturday night, for my birthday party. I was admitted free, as the birthday boy AND I was able to get a veteran discount on tickets for my guests. It's BYOB, too, so that was a huge plus. Stephen Bennett was the ref for the Yelp event, we had Mariel this time around. Jordan McMillan was the crowd favorite, for my party group, but the entire cast of this insanely funny show was superb! I'm already planning my next event!

Have been here for an Elite event as well as just to visit and really enjoyed the family-friendly comedy. I feel this is a place that you can enjoy regardless of age. It almost like a PC Wildin' Out but still fun. It's just really fun here. They make sure to constantly keep the crowd involved which keeps you engaged. Seeing them so quickly adapt to crowd responses is cool and they work smoothly together with the adlib comedy. For a place that I had no expectations to enjoy this is a really fun place.

Honestly, I never heard of this place until a friend of mine invited me to celebrate her birthday at this place. I thought that this place had just recently opened. Imagine my surprise to know that this place has been around for 20+ years in Houston. I bought my ticket over the phone about 45 minutes prior to the 8 pm show on a Friday. The lady I talked to on the phone told me that there were 15 tickets left for the show and that seating chart had been assigned for the night but she would try to seat me with my friend's group. And she did! Awesome job. I read Paula M's review saying that this place promoted racism. NOT TRUE at all. I'm obviously Asian. My friend and her group (around 15 people in the group) were all Black and we all had a great time at the show. My friend was brought on stage to participate in one of the skits and "The Voice" kept mentioning her throughout the night because it was her birthday. There were some other people in the audience who were also celebrating their birthdays, but my friend received most of the attention in part because we were always the loudest to cheer her on. Another review by Megan C. stated that the show is catered more toward children. Well, as far as I know, they had different shows. Some are all age appropriate and some are recommended for 17 and up audience due to crude language. If you go to the website and look at the different shows they offer, it will state whether or not the show is appropriate for all ages, or if it's recommended for kids 10 and under, or adults only. If you don't do your homework prior to going, then don't blame the performers. The cast were awesome. I was laughing the entire time. The show that I attended was called "ComedySportz Matches" and it was set more like "Whose Line Is It Anyway." There were two competing teams of three and a referee. The referee will take suggestions from the audience and use those suggestions for the teams to perform and compete. All in all, it was hilarious. The show took about one hour and 45 minutes long including a 10 - 15 minutes break. During the break, you can fill out some yellow card to sign up for newsletter and put it into a jar. After the break, they will let an audience member to pick one card from the jar for your opportunity to win a pair of tickets. Pretty awesome. They also gave my friend a print out photo of her on the stage with the cast memer and asked her during break if she wanted to take a picture with the cast of the shows after the show was done. After the show was done, The cast of the show stood outside the exit and thanked everybody that had come to the show. Pretty cool! Oh yeah, they also have a little concession bar where they sell soda, beer, etc. I highly recommend this place. I'm definitely going back. If you're thinking about getting a few good laughs, try this place out. But remember, do your homework and check out the different shows they have.

    New location

Oh Comedy Sportz... Though I love ya and still think you're cool, I have to say that I like the old location better than the new one. I've gone to a few of your shows in the past and really enjoyed them in the other theater prior to the new Queensberry Theatre location "upgrade." Is the new theater bigger? Yes. Is it nicer with more bells and whistles? Duh. The new location is beautiful; however, the intimacy is gone, and that feel is something that is needed when it comes to improv. The stage is too high and too far away from the audience to truly focus on the performance and appreciate the talented thespians. The theater is lovely, but it's distracting. It has watered down the fun, interactive, in your face, intimate connection that the actors once had with their audience. The referee used to be able to walk among the audience and engage closely, now the ref and the players stay glued to the stage and at a noticeable distance away from the audience. I wonder if this new change is also impacting the players? The last time I visited (my first time in the new theater), was by far the least entertaining and most scattered performance I have ever seen from CSz; I was shocked and disappointed... Maybe it was just an off night for them... Anyhow, my rating is solely based on the last time I visited, and the new theater.

My friend took me here during one of their YES event. The performers are all very talented. I had a very good time and have never been laughing so much at a comedy show before. I had already told my coworkers about this place and hopefully we would be able to go there for our company social event. I highly recommend this place if you are in for non-stop belly laughings & good time .

This review is for their performance in Houston…read more If you've been to other Cirque Du Soleil in the race park before then you know that there's no way around paying for parking. It will cost you $12 to park. The good thing about the parking is it was super organized so even though there were long lines of cars trying to park, the lines were moving; and once I had paid, the attendees directed me where to go and it took me less than a minute to park. Before you can enter the Grand Chapiteau, you have to go through your typical security measure. There are no metal detectors but they will look inside your purse if you have one. I was here with my sister and she didn't have a purse so we didn't even get checked. She did have a jacket on her but they didn't check it. This means you could sneak in your own snacks/drinks should you be inclined to. Why would one be inclined to sneak in their own snacks/drinks? Well, a bottled water/soda will run you $5. Nachos will run you $10. A Cotton candy will run you $8. Hot dog will run you $7. You see where I'm going with this? If you're coming here with your family (kids, wife, girlfriend, whatever), then you be better be ready to be dropping some $$$$. As for the show, it's your typical CDS stage/seating. You have the round stage with the seats surrounding them. I was lucky enough to get good seats to the right side and three rows from the stage so I was able to see everything clearly. If you opt to sit toward the back, some times you can't even see the faces of the performers clearly. The show started at eight on the dot. Some of the performances are pretty typical CDS where it would amaze you what a human body can do with training (contortionist, balancing act, juggling). Some of the other acts were more creative (invisible circus, finger dancing, animal impression). One act in particular was a combination of both where you have this dude playing yo-yo in the middle of the stage, but holy cow, he could control them yo-yos like they were a part of his body. I felt like he should have been competing in international yo-yo championship or something. All in all, I was happy with the show. This was also my sister's first Cirque Du Soleil and so everything was brand new to her and she was thoroughly impressed with the performances. CDS is always a fun event to go to and I definitely will go to whatever other Cirque Du Soleil shows that would make a stop in Houston.

I was concerned that the AC might not be working from a heads up review 4 days earlier...but, thankfully the AC was on and blowing good!! Toilets looked like porta pottys but they actually had lights and hooks to hang your purse---speaking of...I walked in the stall and there hung a yellow bag and a Kurios souvenir! I was like...HOW can one forget ALL that? Turned it in to an employee...hope the lady got her stuff back. The seats are small and very close together...I chose an end seat so I'd only have one person beside me. My seats were stage right 8 rows back...awesome! Show was exciting...as usual, I was amazed. Do yourself a favor and attend a Cirque de Soleil soon...it's well worth the $$$

It's not real big and it's not real fancy, but who cares? The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of room between seats so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of one another like in a movie theater. The sound system and lighting is fantastic! We have some seriously talented people in the Clear Lake area and they all congregate here! They do have a small concession area with drinks and snacks; my bottle of water was $1.00. You can't beat that! They also have BYOB with a teeny $3.00 corkage fee that includes two glasses. They do a lot with a little; the sets aren't super elaborate but they work hard at making them believable and part of the show. Plus, it's okay to use your imagination; you don't have to have everything spelled out for you with CGI. The bathroom is behind a curtain house right, so if you sit house left you will have to cross in front of the stage if you need to use it during the show. Not a huge thing, just be aware. The show was sold out today, and it was delayed a few minutes since they were trying to find seats for the waiting list people. It was fine though, as everyone was in a good mood and ready to enjoy. Buy your tickets online though to make sure you get the seat you want, and get there fairly early. The show today started at 2:30 pm; I got there around 2:00 pm and got a good seat. I can't say enough great things about this place and the people. This is a real hidden gem in this area and if you haven't checked it out you have been missing out! Why travel into Houston when we have such fantastic talent right here in Clear Lake?! Stay local and enjoy all that Clear Creek Community Theater offers!

They do their best to make you feel welcome and take care of you. They have snacks in the lobby, some free and some for a small fee that helps promote the playhouse. They offer inexpensive wine and soda and bottled water during intermission and before the show. The theatre itself needs a little renovating. it's very outdated. As someone who writes reviews that focus on disability accommodation, I have to honestly say that this place needs some work on ADA compliance. I'm sure they are legal--that's not the issue--it's how comfortable it is. If you have a wheelchair, you have to sit in the first few rows, and every time I've come in, they've been full, because no one has put up signs that say they are companion seats for wheelchairs. One time, i had to sit in the aisle, which is a safety and fire hazard. The bathrooms are awkward for wheelchair bound people too. Several of the seats are broken and need to be replaced or repaired. the balcony is outdated and there is no accessible access to the balcony theatre. Short of the renevations that are clearly needed, the theatre itself is cute, has much potential, and the shows are reasonably priced for a fun and family friendly evening out.
