What a great space, with so many little theaters offering an amazing opportunity for smaller scale shows to debut some truly artistic and terrific work, while offering a relatively unique theater going experience for the rest of us who long for the off-Broadway treasures that are too costly to produce at the major playhouses, even the "off-Broadway" theaters that have so much upkeep. Tonight we saw "The Giant Hoax," a new musical based upon the true-ish story of New York's famous Cardiff Giant, with book, music, and lyrics by Kit Goldstein Grant. This has long been one of my favorite places to see a show, and the way they've transformed it over the many years is truly remarkable and a testament to the strength of keeping theater alive and going.

Do you remember music from the 1950s or 1960s?  No, well how about your parents remembering?   We saw the Marvelous Wonderettes at Theater Row in New York City.   We had purchased a one year subscription to tdf.org for $34, and gotten 2nd row seats on the internet a couple of days in advance for $28.50, compared to the $92.50 full price.   A 15 minute walk from Times Square, but a 30 minute walk from our timeshare on 200 56th st. We  made sure we got a Tuesday or Wednesday 7pm showing, rather than a Thursday- Friday showing at 8pm, due to the lengthy walk at night.   Theater is one of six theaters in a complex, with a central lounge, bathrooms and refreshment stand.  Our theater was small, holding less than a 100 seats, with a single aisle on the side entrance.   We got seats in the 2nd row all the way on the far side next to the wall, farthest from the aisle. I went first, and got the seat next to the wall, with no armrest on the wall side.  This was so that the wife could sit closer to the aisle, and make her usual mad dash to the bathroom at intermission. Theater was not full, and we did not get the more desirable empty seats right next to the aisle.  Usually they sell the most desirable seats first, but not here.  I guess they didn't want to give those seats to people who got such a big discount.  First row left empty as those looked up at the stage. Seats standard 18" across, stadium seating, non staggered, similar in width to airline seats.  Unlike most places, you don't have to stand up to let people pass by, there is that much leg room.   The first half of the show is the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet The Wonderettes, four girls perform classic '50s songs as  "Lollipop," "Dream Lover, "Stupid Cupid" in crinoline skirts.  Sure the plot is weak and the talk stupid, but the costumes colorful, even campy and the singing is first rate. At intermission, we check out the bathrooms, which are extremely clean, spacious, and a first - no line for the women nor the men.  No need for the wife to trample over anyone.   Jump forward to their 10 year class reunion in 1968, where the girls are dressed like Nancy Sinatra in tight leather skirts singing "These boots are Made for Walking"  They sing "Son of a Preacher Man, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, "It's My Party,", "You Don't Own Me"  and other chart topping hits! Heard music, but never saw an orchestra, so the music might have come from a recording.  At least the singing was real and not lip singing, in which case I would have demanded my money back! I was too young to remember the 1950s hit on the radio, but by 1968 I could listen to those hit songs on the radio, in times of turmoil and protest in my hometown of Berkeley! Comfortable seating, bathrooms that could handle the crowds -too bad I couldn't choose my own seat closer to the aisle.   Also an extra half mile walk from the theater district late at night.  But Manhattan sidewalks are busy with pedestrians even at 11pm on weekdays, although Marianne W tells me that older women alone on empty subways late at night are prime targets of muggers.  Welcome to New York City!

I like this venue has multiple floors in a modern building, decided to multiple rooms for different off broadway shows. Each room are not big so very intimate setting. There is a bar on second floor, I came here for couple shows in the past, really enjoyed them.

I've seen so many great shows at Theatre Row and just love this theatre! Their newly rennovated lobby is wonderful! Customer service is always top notched; informative, professional and friendly! This is a 5 level theatre with multiple small theaters on each level (some larger, some smaller). No matter which theater I've been in, every seat was a great seat. On this occasion, I was fortunate enough to see MIRACLE in RWANDA; a one-woman play that depicts one woman's battle for survival during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. This multi-character solo play stars Rwandan actor Malaika Uwamahoro, and is directed by George Drance SJ. MIRACLE IN RWANDA is based on the true story of New York Times bestselling author Immaculée Ilibagiza (Left to Tell). This was an uplifting message of forgiveness and compassion, chronicling the dramatic events experienced by Immaculée. The story is one of personal empowerment, of overcoming all obstacles through the power of faith, and ultimately finding peace of mind amidst unbelievable hardship. The true miracle of Immaculée's story is her ability to forgive. Kudos to Malaika Uwamahoro for her outstanding performance (playing over 12 characters)! This was a 70 minute show which just flew by. Deeply horrifying and moving at the same time. Go see it! Looking forward to seeing many more performances at Theatre Row! I shall be back!

I have been to a few of the theatre in Theatre Row and love love love it. I would equate Theatre Row to a typical multiplex move theatre in that there are several auditoriums in Theatre Row. Each auditorium is clean, comfortable, well maintained and adequately air conditioned. The air conditioning was adequate for cooling everyone down despite over 95 degree weather outside, which, to me, is impressive. I have been to a lot of theatres and there have been many other theatres where the air conditioning is not enough for the space. Not even the grand Broadway show theatres have as much air conditioning as Theatre Row. The bathrooms are emaculate. The seats in the auditoriums are not super tight at all. There was room to move. It looks well managed. It's one of the nicer off Broadway theaters. I would come to any show playing at Theatre Row in a heartbeat. I love it here.

Came here to watch the Banana Monologues. It was really funny and entertaining throughout the entire performance. The actor even got the audience to participate in some of his jokes. Not bad. At no point did I ever feel bored and I think his jokes were appropriate, not too extreme. I didn't get a chance to watch the female version before hand, but after seeing this, I should definitely watch it. I would definitely come back here to watch other shows. I like how close you are to the stage but it is a very small theatre. I don't know the pricing for the tickets but if it's around $70-80, I don't think it's worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. Weren't rude at all.

Came here for the play Shadowlands (the love story of C S Lewis and Joy Davidman. Small and intimate venue and great theater experience. There are no bad seats due to the size of the theater. There is a bar at 2nd floor that serves various kind of drinks. Bathroom line is at a reasonable length. Come a see a play when you are tired of the broadway singing and dancing (which could give me a headache sometimes).

Also, you should definitely get the priority tickets. For us it was only $11 extra and it is WELL worth it. The play was amazing! Everybody did such a great job and I really loved Scorpius's character. Of course Tom Felton was there as the original Draco Malfoy, which is the entire reason that we came. If you want to during the play, you can order food to your seat which I thought was cool. The rest of the snacks were good for what they were. We booked through AAA and got a snack bag with popcorn water and a cursed child cup filled with Gummies. Everything was really good. If I could change one thing and I know this is like, "come on" but the seats were kind of uncomfortable. Google says that the Lyric Theatre was redone in 1996. The show was surprisingly modern, and completely captivating from start to finish. The energy in the theater was unreal as everyone, including celebrities, came out to celebrate Megan Thee Stallion in her final performance as Zidler. She was hilarious, quick, and owned that stage in every moment she appeared. Even though I've seen her perform on tour, it felt like such a special experience to witness. We soaked in the city, took in some sights, and of course grabbed a slice while we were there. I am beyond grateful to my husband for such an incredible and thoughtful gift. Even though it's a non-traditional spin on the character, she infuses the role with her signature "hot girl" energy and is a total joy to watch on stage. Despite her massive personality, she manages not to overshadow the rest of the cast. I think that speaks volumes about the group's chemistry... she fits right in without upstaging anyone. Since it's a jukebox musical anyway, having Meg perform some of her own hits while the rest of the company joined in was a great touch. Having seen the original cast in the 2019 Moulin Rouge production, which was also wonderful, I'm really glad I got to experience both interpretations.

Since it was one set, they did a good job going from area to area to keep things visually interesting without breaking from the singing. Only critique was the one girl who wasn't a size 2 had on long sleeves and pants under a dress. Like...it's not that hard to dress an averaged size woman.
