We were lucky to be given the last table, as it was Friday night, and there were bus-loads of tourists (for upstairs space). Guinness 0.0 turned out to be too bitter for me, but my husband happily finished my pint, after finishing his own. I was then recommended to try their alcohol-free Chardonnay, which was very nice and more suited my palate. One usually goes to a pub to drink with friends, and wouldn't expect much from the food offerings, but this place obviously puts a lot of thought and effort into their cooking, both in taste and in presentation. Good drinks, good food, and good company, in a loud and happy space - a perfect Irish experience!

My mate drinks here and he lives in Arklow! Miles away! The reason for its popularity? Well, do does exactly as a pub should do, serves decent pints, in a comfortable well laid out space, with a laid back vibe and huge outdoor, covered, heated smoking area, with its own bar. There is even a cool little snug here as well, which is great if you don't want to be seen with your date! otherwise you will be seen here because as I said everybody drinks here! There is a great food menu too, reasonably priced and eating here is really popular at lunchtimes and on weekends with families. Also, this pub has an excellent beer garden, complete with heaters and a small fountain. The carvery lunch is from 12-3pm, is very popular here, and at times it can be difficult getting a seat for lunch. There is also a large parking lot adjacent to the pub, which allows for plenty of parking, and it's free. The pub is very accessible by bus (the 17 and the 44 stop directly in front of the pub) and by the luas (Dundrum stop), which is about a five minute walk away and can be seen from the bridge of the luas. However, this pub does have a reputation for being a bit of an "old man's pub," which is a shame, since it is actually quite a friendly and delightful place. Eventually, around 16:10 the manager came asking in a rude manner if we were to dring something, so we said yes and ordered some pints. Right after the waiter came to place a "reserved" plate on our table. So I asked what's the meaning and they answered that there were customers coming at 17:00, I replied back that we were customers already sitting it that place, he said they have a policy for customers drinking only to stay max 2 hours at the table. I went to speack with the manager and the answer was the same. I felt unwanted and poorly served. I believe such rudness cannot be forgiven. Never again in such place where they do not know the basic rules of savoir-faire, quality service and politness. Moreover, the place was dirty and the coffee quality was questionable!
