My daughter and I chose this restaurant to treat my husband for his Father's Day meal. We eat indian vegetarian regularly in and around the area but this is one I've only ever seen when I've passed by on the bus to/from visiting Northwick Park Hospital.
Firstly, I would say that a lack of convenient parking must put a lot of people off from going there. Even with my husband's blue badge we had to park some way away and walk back to it.
The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 13:30, which was a little off-putting as I'd phoned to book a table on the assumption that Father's Day would make it harder to find somewhere to eat.
Now this restaurant is unique in being an Indian Tapas restaurant and bat. We expected to share items and to have small portions. As it happens, the portions were reasonable and we came away with a box of food for lunch tomorrow!
I'd asked for a glass of Pinot Grigot Rose as I'm fussy about wine in that I don't like dry wine. The waiter advised me that he had better roses than those on the menu and would bring them out for me to see. The one I settled on, Sentina Rose, he told me was sweeter than the others (I was rather afraid he was trying to get me to have a glass of dessert wine!) but, in actual fact, it was a dry, if not more so than the Pinot Grigot I normally order. It was drinkable and at least it wasn't as acid as some wines I've had in the past, hence my love of Barefoot wines which never disappoint!.
We shared a Vegetable Panorma, a mix of indian starters. My daughter had Paneer Makhni and husband and I both had the Vegetable Grilled Tapas - whish was various vegetables that had been roasted over a flame (pretty similar to our starter, to be honest). The flavours were wonderful although our meals were marked in the menu as medium but I'd say they were on the spicy side of medium!
We enjoyed our meal, we came away full up but it's not a venue I would go back to on a regular basis, maybe just for special occasions. Our meals worked out to £15 a head.
If you enjoy modern indian food (not the anglicised version you get in some indian restaurants) then you'll enjoy eating here. There was another family who arrived whilst we were part way through our meal. They have a bar with the lighting that changes colour and I'm sure that, if there'd been more clientele it would have a really nice ambience. I liked the fact that we weren't subjected to Bollywood music or indian wailing (sorry but that's how it sounds to my ears!) the background music was unobtrusive apart from recognising "Papa don't preach" by Madonna at one point! read more
