LJs goes yard- pickles, bbq sauce, mozzarella cheese.

Let's talk about The Yard. I will start off by saying the pizza is beyond delicious. Delicious isn't even a good enough word to describe it. It is so delightful that it is making my mouth water just thinking about it. So fresh. That being said, understand that fresh pizza does take time to make. This ain't frozen, boxed up pizza that you pop in the oven and it's ready in 15 minutes. This pizza is made by hand. I actually saw them rolling the dough, and carefully adding the ingredients. Do not come here when you are already hangry, tapping your little foot, and rolling your eyes, ready to snap. Come here when you are not quite hungry yet, but "getting there." Come when you want to let your kids run around a little and play some ball with them while you wait for your pizza. Go to The Yard if you want to catch a sports game outside on their awesome porch and have a drink with friends while you wait for your freshly made pizza. This was my first time going with our friends (who are regulars), so I can only speak on one pizza: "LJ's Goes Yard" This pizza had brisket, mozzarella cheese , bbq sauce, and pickles. The brisket was flavorful and tender. The sweetness of the barbecue sauce paired nicely with the sourness of the pickles. The crust was perfect... just the right texture and not over cooked. I loved it! My only regret is that we got only one pizza. We are a family of 3, (2 adults and a toddler) but we can eat. Pro tip: get 2 pizzas. Worst case scenario: you take some home for later. I also want to mention that the environment was great. Plenty of space for kids to run. Very family friendly. Corn hole, a spot for kids to play baseball, plenty of baseballs (plastic so no worries about getting a black eye), bats, footballs, etc. Beer was cold, and they even brought some heaters out for the porch area so we could stay warm on a chilly Texas night. Staff was friendly! I Definitely recommend this place. I will be back to try some more pizza and possibly some of those pizza rolls I kept seeing them make by hand. #pizza #handmadepizza #smalltownlife #pizzalover #pizzatime #smallbusiness #brenham #brenhamtx #SupportSmallBusiness #familyfriendly #friends

Growing up in the country, parks were pretty much the only place that you could go to without…read morepacking a bag and going to the city to take your kids to the zoo, amusement park, etc. Henderson Park, however, holds a special place in my heart because of the family reunions that used to be held here. May was our month to come together and celebrate family and food (lots of food) and get reacquainted. Unfortunately, for years, Henderson Park didn't receive the maintenance needed to make it plausible to continue having reunions here anymore, but I was shocked to see the upgrades to Henderson on a recent visit to Brenham. Lots of tlc has been poured into this park to revitalize it. In fact, I didn't even know how much history was apart of the park until I read the newly installed landmark signage that designates Henderson as a Lone Star Legacy Park, the highest honor that a park can receive according to the Texas Recreational and Parks Society. The designation was received in 2022, but the park is actually older than Fireman's Park across the street, which received the Lone Star Legacy Park honor in 2014. I'm just glad that this historical landmark has been restored and rejuvenated with a new venue with AC, which is a great update because my family use to place screens on the windows and run fans when we used Henderson back in the day. You'll also enjoy a bbq pit on the premises as well as a covered partition with picnic style benches as well as playgrounds, basketball courts and a baseball field which has a extraordinary place in history because Henderson (which was the park designated for African Americans during segregation) gave the Negro Leagues (and that is what they were called, so I am not going to change history here) a place and space to play. I am so glad that the baseball park remains a vital part of the park as well as the addition of a waterpark around the entryway to Henderson. Spacious and attractive, a day at Henderson provides some relaxation, relief, and literally a breath of fresh air if you visit. I'm excited to bring the family back together post covid to relaunch our reunions at Henderson in the near future, but I give pause and recognize how great it is that history still holds a special place in people's hearts and minds. Henderson Park will forever be a part of history. Let us not only celebrate it but cherish its presence and preservation to keep history alive in our community.
