If you value your lives and safety of your occupants. Do not take your car here. Took my car in for what was initially a clutch replacement that turned into a transmission replacement. They had my car for a month and a half and even after the repair, the car still did not operate correctly and was leaking oil. Yesterday while on my way to and from spokane, my kids and I were almost killed when the steering knuckle of my car came off. My car was not put back together correctly and nothing was torqued down, to include the transmission housing connecting to the motor. After calling the owner. He stated that he had fired the employee because this has happened before. Low mechanical competencies and ZERO quality oversight. This place is the oppitomy of a backwoods shady tree mechanic. She would call to check on it and most of the time with no answer or call back. Wow - If you are reading this and you have not been ripped off buy this guy yet, don't let it happen to you - find another place! Do not trust this company! I hope this is the last review written on theWrench because nobody else in the future should decide to trust that they will get proper service there. This review feels unnecessary, as it is like all the others. But out of concern for our neighbors I thought I would keep the poor reviews updated and current. It really does seem that a class-action lawsuit should be possible for all of us who made the mistake of letting this guy rip us off! So last winter was bad and finally decided to get the 4WhDrive fixed. That was fixed. But immediately afterwards new, never before problems arose: a tranny leak, a water leak, the battery died because of their gerry-rigging. etc. etc. Like another reviewer, I don't like giving bad reviews - that's why I'm writing this one 6 months later... but after getting the battery fixed, and the empty radiator/water leak fixed - we still haven't had the time to fix the transmission leaks - so still dealing with what they caused - so frustrated. December 2021 we went in because our truck was leaking and making weird noises. We always use this place for oil changes. So we thought they would do a good job. They told us that the switch on our dash had accidentally turned on, and it caused our rear differential to go bad so we paid $1400 to have it fixed. Fast-forward to almost a year later, we had been transferred to a new state and we were having problems again there were oil spots all over the driveway. We called them because it had a year warranty. John the manager Said he would work with us. Yes, send us copies of your paperwork blah blah blah! After a couple of phone calls, he said to get an estimate from another place here and find out how much it was gonna cost to replace the rear differential., And then send him the estimate and he would pay for it. so we did all that and then he ghosted us! We tried to report him to the Better Business Bureau, but what they told us was he already had an F rating and they couldn't do anything about it because they don't reply to the Better Business Bureau either! So basically we were screwed out of our money. We had to pay $3000 to have it fixed and replaced! on top of the $1400 that we paid him! I guess a new manager came in and called us and said he wanted to work with us. After a couple of phone calls he ghosted us also! This totally sucks do not ever take your vehicles there they will just rob you of your money! Brought my vehicle in for investigation into a grinding noise coming from a component somewhere along the serpentine belt. I was informed that upon a stethoscope diagnostic, there was a failed part or bearing in the A/C compressor. I authorized the repair for a new, non-OEM part. The following day, I was told that my water pump was having issues as well. I decided not to allow them to fix it as I wanted a second opinion. Upon the Wrench replacing the A/C compressor, the audible grinding noise still persisted. I had come to pick up the vehicle with the expectation that the noise would still be present, but my A/C compressor would be replaced with a new one. Upon picking up my vehicle, it was clear that the "new" A/C compressor's clutch was stuck in an engaged position with no heat or air coming into the car. In addition, the pully and clutch showed evident signs of tremble and wobble as the car is running. I was billed, before the maintenance to note, $1250. I received opinions from 5 other qualified mechanics (Frontier Auto, Midas, Firestone, etc.) in the area with all of them saying the replacement A/C compressor was faulty. Upon returning to the Wrench to address the situation, I allowed them to look into my vehicle. The mechanic also noted that the A/C compressor they had installed the previous day was faulty and can happen with new parts. I asked them multiple times to view the part which they took from my vehicle so they could explain why it was broken. They kept giving me excuses as to why they could not. I will make this clear, they expressed wanting to make the issue right by replacing the water pump for free in addition to fixing the A/C compressor, though with my new knowledge of this business I was very cautious about doing that as to risk further damage to my vehicle. I told them the only way to make it right was by refunding me the price of the A/C compressor or ordering a new one to give to me so I can fix it myself. They could not do that as they wanted the part, they just installed so they could receive their return credit. I made it clear to them that they are not going to be working on my car again. Avoid this place, read the reviews, the BBB reports and take your business elsewhere. The good: -They patched a nail in my tire too, looks fine. -Offered to make it right with free labor (though I'm not trusting them with another botched job on my vehicle.) -Offered me a ride home when I initially dropped my car off. The owner, John Crowley, suggested I use their partner lease finance company to get the work done sooner than I had budgeted. He finalized that transaction with the finance company (which later I found out was fraudulent as the work is supposed to be COMPLETED before they finalize and get paid.) and I had already made a payment to the company before he even had possession of the vehicle. Zero communications after I dropped off the truck. After over Two weeks of trying to get answers I finally visited in office. My transmission had been taken out and sitting on the bench but no repairs had even been started. Had the vehicle towed to a reputable dealer who has now completed the truck in under two weeks. BUT remember that financing. Yeah. He never cancelled it. He informed them he wished to submit an invoice adjustment but never finalized or contacted them about ANY adjustment. He claims to have spoken with them yesterday but seems to forget their communications are recorded. He never made such and attempt. Snap attempted to call him to no avail. After texting him I intend to press charges, he magically started receiving communications again and yet again lied and said he had spoken with them "yesterday". I took my 2003 Toyota Prius here to get the, AC recharged. This used to be a job I could do myself but the freeon is now outlawed for the public so you have to have a shop do it, I had got 2 prior quotes for$160 and $200 and when I took it to the wrench they recharged it before giving me an estimate and then charged me $450 just to recharge it which took them 15 minutes and $5 of freeon. I would recommend staying away from this shop. They are very shisty and will rip you off. This is by far the worst auto shop I have ever been too! read more

John replied he had received a call from my number and was returning the call. I replied I didn't call and I don't know who they are. Your telephone number is posted in blazing red on my missed call list. Being nasty does not phase me in the least however. Possibilities: 1. My telephone screwed up and your telephone did not call my telephone at all. 2. Your telephone did call my telephone without you making any attempt to call this business at all. It may or may not show up on your outbound call list. Being as crazy emphatic as you are must be incredibly frustrating to those you live with. You are probably frequently wrong about things but do not have a large enough imagination to realize it." To Whom it May Concern: I'm one of those guys who, in my seventies, is quick to speak up when things aren't satisfactory. So I believe I have an obligation to speak up when someone does something well. I had some minor repair work done at The Wrench in Silverdale not too long ago, and the owner, John Crowley, not only ensured outstanding work at a fair price, but gave me a complimentary free oil change, available anytime it was needed. I finally scheduled that oil change for Monday morning, and saw then that they now also offer detailing services. It seemed like a lot for what I thought of as a carwash. But I have arthritis in both wrists and don't scrub things easily, so I decided to try it. I have to say, this was way more than a carwash. They washed and waxed it, and cleaned every nook and cranny inside and out, using high-end commercial cleaners and treatments that restored the original luster to the whole interior. They even got a couple of stubborn stains out of the carpet. In short, they did outstanding work that was worth every penny. My 2013 Subaru Outback looks new. I may get it done at The Wrench at least once a year now. And I'll definitely get the car serviced there from now on, whatever it needs. Posting this review, I happened to read a few of the other reviews, and was astonished at a few folks' negative comments. From my experience, people get upset over the littlest things these days, and then tend to exaggerate if not out-right lie about their experience for the most paltry of reasons. But I can tell you, there is no right way to do the wrong thing, and Mr. Crowley proved to me that he knows plenty of right ways to do the right thing. The Wrench in Silverdale had been my go to auto mechanic for almost three years and the work was always good. They repaired my brakes on my Infiniti 2008 QX 56 this past October, 2023. After the repair the brakes felt very soft and barely stopped the vehicle and the emergency brake didn't hold at all. I call John Crowley and he told me that I didn't know what repaired brakes would feel like and there was no action necessary. I took my Infiniti to Liberty Bay Auto. They found that the brakes repair wasn't correctly done, some of the parts were left out and that one of the rear calipers brake lines was leaking brake fluid onto the emergency brake pads. The Wrench left with barely functioning brakes and no e-brake. I cost me $1,460.71 to have the errors corrected. I went to John Crowley and discussed the errors. He again acted as though there wasn't any problem, but that he would "take care of it". It appears he meant that he would do nothing which is what he has done. I paid over 2k to have work done on my nissan suvs. Every single wheel hub assembly was done incorrectly leading to further damage and re replacements needing to be done as well as replacing the axles because of it. Also was charged for parts and the manager stole from me. And was charged again for a part a second time and they refuse to give me my money back. This guy is a liar and his employees do shotty unsafe work. Hes been screening me and my husbands calls. I have witnesses as well. He wont refund me the parts either and is trying to make me sue his old manager when i came in and paid the business for work done that was not done. Do not trust this business with your vehicles. I don't like giving poor reviews unless it is earned. I took my car there with a Groupon for an oil change; apparently it was not covered. Ok, no big deal so I paid out of pocket. Needing a break job already I was up sold and agreed to it. Unfortunately they were not able to finish the job completely (parking break) and I had to return when they received the part. Although the break sensors were replaced my break indicator light remains on and I was advised that since they didn't know what to do that I would have to take it to a BMW mechanic. Furthermore, one of my hubs on the wheel was not put back on. When I explained the situation I was text back that they had noticed it wasn't firmly attached when they returned it (though I was not informed). I received a follow up text saying it would be taken care of which it wasn't. Again...I hate giving bad reviews and the owner seemed genuine in his concerns but bad service is bad service. read more

The business owner himself was running the counter when I needed a rearview camera installed on my vehicle. His employees have different skillsets that compliment each other which makes for an efficient business. Now the second time I am back, I have asked for an additional installation for a dash camera, they are handling for a fair price. early this month someone had sawed through the front of my catalytic converter pipe. so i went here to hopefully get it welded. they charge by the hour so of course they took an hour to do an "inspection" which very obviously should not have taken an hour. then nearly 2 hours after giving them the key they call and tell me they welded it shut. i paid around 200 dollars and when i got to my car i saw that they just poorly wrapped foil tape around the pipe and called it good... two hours and nearly $200 of my time and money wasted for foil wrap. don't go here people read more

I worked primarily with John, who repeatedly failed to delivery on the dates that he suggested. His inexperience with my vehicle almost caused additional damage when he struggled to properly remove the key from the ignition. He was hostile when I confronted him about the constantly shifting timeline and his lack of honesty. Ultimately, the repairs I received (brake caliper and pad replacements) failed catastrophically within three months. I have zero trust in this business and their employees. I came here last year around September to have my brakes checked because the brake pedal would pulsate while going down a hill and I'd hear a thumping sound. I had a 2014 Honda Civic with only 32k miles at the time. I had just bought the car from a reputable dealership, and it was well cared for by the previous owner. With that being said, the guy who was inspecting my car (wish I could've gotten his name) said that my brakes were warped all the way around (this I expected) and one of my cv axles he could "lift all the way up" and needed to be replaced. Hmm. I was quoted $1600 to replace EVERYTHING. I freaked out and I was ready to pay all that money that I didn't need to spend. When the lady at the front desk asked the man who inspected my car if he wanted to show me the cv axle and how it "lifts all the way up" he shook his head no. Wonder why. Luckily I wasn't fooled by this guy's lies and went somewhere else. The next place I went to literally took me under my car to show me that axle DID NOT BUDGE. The lady at the front desk was really nice though, and offered to give me a discount. I just wanted to make you aware of the poor service I recently received at your Silverdale location. As a mechanic on the east coast and very familiar with this older car, I offered advice as to what I thought may be wrong. I understand that the employees did not need to listen to me, I was just trying to be helpful as I have worked on these type of cars for over 40 years. After feeling the estimate to fix the car was significantly high, I told them not to service the car. The employee and I were both frustrated and had words so, after the holiday, I flew out to the to west coast to tow the car and fix it myself. I offered to pay for their time and was told by the employee it was all set. I also understand my car is older but I take care of it and value it. The car was not as I left it as I returned to pick it up. It has a broken light, cracked bumper, some kind of solvent splattered on the car that has either ruined the paint or bubbled on the side, had a different used wrong battery thrown in it and tie wrapped in place and and the car was unlocked. The battery that was originally in the car was warrantied and also fit. I am not sure what happened while the car was at this garage but it is not cool to treat customers or their property so disrespectfully. read more

This is a very tired car at nearly 190K miles. The Wrench brought my baby back to life and kept me informed as to every step. I initially was not a very patient customer and made quite a scene, but John Crowley made things right. That was very much appreciated. I have been an attorney for nearly 40 years. Poor work, and shady owner standing behind under trained staff. Took car in for thermostat replacement, found the turbo charger was cracked, was sent a photo via text of a crack in a car part, agreed to replace turbo. After 5 days I was called and told it was ready to pick up, John said "they took it for a nice long test drive it all was good. When I left the lot the car would not stay running i immediately went back and opened the hood and there was no coolant in the recovery unit, in my car that is the only place you can put coolant in the car. The called the next day and said it was ready, I don't think they went on a nice long test drive with no coolant in the engine, they said they forgot to connect the hoses for the turbo and that that's why it wouldn't stay running. Then to try and smooth things over John offers a free brake job, I need the car to stop when I put the brakes on, so I will not be taking up the offer. I still have new issues since I went to the wrench, I just recently found that a relay had been shorted out causing a slow drain on the battery, when I saw the story on the news about the technician test driving a car at over 100 miles an hour I just thought more people who have had a bad experience here need to speak out so that others dont suffer the same bad experience. I will never go to that shop again and will advise all others to call another shop. read more

SCAM!!! They are running a scheme at this shop. John R Crowley the owner used to be a criminal defense attorney and had his license revoked for misconduct. I took my Range Rover in for a noise it was making, nothing crazy. John said it was a loose bolt and that was what was causing the noise. BUT, said my car needed other work and was not safe to drive. I had just purchased my vehicle 2 months prior to this so this sounded odd to me. Given I'd just given birth to my baby I was a concerned mom and was like maybe he's right I shouldn't drive it back home. Little did I know that was the beginning to my nightmare. Long story short he charged me 4K for all work my car "needed". When we got home my husband went under the car and realized he'd only replaced one thing of ALL the things he said it needed. We called John numerous times to ask him about it and when we finally got a hold of him he said it was a miscommunication between him and his mechanic and he thought the vehicle was done. This is a BIG miscommunication to have. After that we did research and found out this guy does this on a daily to people. Of course he never answered our calls again and kept getting the run around from his manager. Don't take your car here if you don't want to be part of a SCAM!!! After they took care of my Tahoe, I took my husbands camaro to them, and they tried to upsell me on serious suspension parts that I thought was just worn tires out of balance. Guy upfront said it would be about a grand and a half to fix the bad steering rack and pinion, when all the wheel needed was to be rebalanced, and After getting a second opinion and seeing for myself, I was right. Meineke took care of me, and visually showed me (I'm mechanically inclined, but lack the space to do these things myself) that absolutely nothing was wrong.
