She's amazing!! I really enjoyed the crab claws app- $23. They are served chilled & steamed. This was the perfect little snack. I also had a nice glass of sparkling wine. High ceilings and exposed brick are a few of the ways to my heart. If you've seen a post about this place, you've probably seen a picture of the crackly round, artistic dish and wondered what it was. There are dumplings on the underside of it and you break each one off of the crackly part to enjoy. We did enjoy these but I would've loved a soy sauce to dip them in. They came with chili crunch, peanuts, and green onions but I wanted an actual sauce. They were very standard tasting dumplings and there was nothing extraordinary about them unfortunately. As always, we'd looked at the menu beforehand and decided what we wanted. It does state on their website that their menus can change due to freshness and availability. But we'd both decided on an app and entree we wanted only to get there and have none of them on the menu. I do appreciate a rotating menu to accommodate local items, but I would also love for those to be updated on a regular basis. So after rerouting, we decided on the chicken skewers as another app with the dumplings. These were chargrilled, flavorful, and had a nice crust on them. I got shrimp fried rice and Julia got spicy beef noodles. It was fine but I wish the shrimp wouldn't have been cut up. It felt like they chopped them up in order to not put as many in the dish. At $25 for this, I'd like whole shrimp please. There were a few pieces of raw spinach with pepper on the top. I would've loved a sauce of some kind. I would've preferred shrimp hibachi with fried rice from a Japanese place that included vegetables and sauces. This was not *bad* there was just SO much room for improvement. We both agreed that nothing was awful, but for these prices and the hype, we expected more. Our waitress was super friendly. Bonus points because they had match boxes at the host stand! There was a paid parking lot diagonal from the restaurant, so we had to walk through an intersection to get there. There are some spots up front if you can snag one. Overall, we enjoyed our time here but won't be sprinting back.

Came here for a Thursday night dinner! Most everywhere else in Birmingham had an hour+ wait for…read moredinner, but EastWest had no wait! I'd never been here before, but had been excited to try it out! The atmosphere is similar to the other restaurants on 2nd Ave, and I love the mural in the back. I love a short menu, the menu here is the perfect length. Just one side of a sheet of paper. We tried the cauliflower to start, the flavor was amazing but the fry could have been a little bit crispier. My friend ordered the salmon plate for dinner, which I had a bit of and was INCREDIBLE. I'd definitely order that next time. I had the Mongolian beef bowl, which hit the spot, but did leave a little bit to be desired. I wasn't particularly wowed by the flavor or sear on the beef itself. Service was ok. I'll definitely come back here. The price and ambiance are right for a weeknight winter dinner out. Parking can be a little bit tricky around here. Most street parking was full and we ended up parking in a paid lot behind Neon Moon.

If you're not from Bham, this is definitely a place I recommend adding to your list! It's perfect for a date night, girls' night, or really any occasion. The prices are reasonable, the drinks are good, and the food never disappoints. I always get the East West Wings, and they are PHENOMENAL! One of my absolute staples every time I come is the duck nachos, they're SO good and definitely a must try. I also love getting the spicy garlic noodles with shrimp. The flavors are always on point!

We were seated promptly, although we had to wait until our third person arrived before we could move our tables together. We started with the calamari, which was a great appetizer! For my entrees, I ordered the Cyclone sushi roll since I prefer fried sushi over raw, and the Maa Bowl ramen which included the momos (shrimp) that I also wanted to try the which were SO good! Honestly, I'm wondering why the shrimp momos aren't offered as an appetizer option alongside the turkey and pork because they definitely deserve a spot on the menu! I was especially glad we decided to dine earlier because the restaurant started getting crowded and more lively shortly after we placed our appetizer order. The food was delicious, and I'm already looking forward to returning to try more items on the menu and sitting at the sushi bar. Parking is street parking, so it can definitely be a challenge, but I'd say it's worth it! Overall, a great dining experience, and I highly recommend checking them out!

My drink order was taken (water) and my server, who answered all of my questions, was very patient and pleasant. For my appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls. They were freshly made and came out hot and crispy. I enjoyed them and would order them again. Now the main course. I opted for the spicy Himalayan chicken, medium heat. I love spicy food, and I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the medium level. However, it was very spicy! I did notice however, that the longer it sat, the level evened out some. Still, on my next visit, I will try the mild level to compare. The dish was delicious and very flavorful. The white rice added just the right amount of coolness to the chicken and veggies. Upon leaving, I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken in mild. I'm not sure if it's because it's a totally different flavor profile, but the mild has very little spicy. I just can't believe it's that much difference between the mild and medium levels. The drunken noodles were just okay, in my opinion. There was not a lot of juice, spice not flavor in this dish. On my next visit, I will stick with the Himalayan chicken and order it in mild just to test out my theory. The workers were very friendly and came by to check on me and made small talk with all of their customers, including me. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning again

I absolutely love this friendly fast-casual eatery! We wanted a quick and healthy dinner when in…read morethe area recently. I peeked in and thought it looked so pretty. And of course they had me at poke bowls. It's one of my top 5 things to eat, honestly. But I ordered a Buddha bowl because it's almost the same thing and I felt a little lazy to DIY (not to mention, the Buddha bowl looked tantalizing!) They have other veg options, but I set my sights on that bowl as soon as the friendly counter guy suggested it. It's overloaded with goodness--avocado, deliciously marinated tofu, edamame (yes, it's a protein-rich bowl), tomatoes, shredded carrots, diced cucumbers, greens and more. You're literally devouring the rainbow here, friends. For drinks, they have a modest but decent selection of beer, wine (a decent bubbly in a can!) and sake in addition to soft drinks. The place is so beautiful (and spotlessly clean) with plants dangling from the ceiling and beautiful murals throughout. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.
