We had to go to a wedding and a graduation in the area so we booked our trip with Nancy via email. When we arrived we were greeted by Nancy's daughter and showed around briefly, then to our room. They have the cutest little dog and a couple of cats which are lazy and very friendly. Our room was huge, very nice and very clean. The bed was very comfortable, much more so than just about any bed in any home-away-from-home that I've stayed at, the only comparable bed would probably be the beds at Hampton Inn (which will cost you about $159 a night I might add). We were the only ones staying the first night and were able to name our own breakfast time, we chose 9am. The next morning we woke up to the smell of bacon and went downstairs for a wonderful breakfast of fruit plate, apple-french toast and bacon with juice and tea (neither of us drink coffee). We spoke with Nancy for nearly two hours about the area and really enjoyed our time just sitting and talking. The next day we had another wonderful breakfast before departing. Our first experience with a bed & breakfast was a great one. I think we were very fortunate to have chosen such a beautiful historic house run by such a wonderful family. As a side note as a techno-addict I appreciated the fast, free wi-fi (fast enough to stream Netflix). Unfortunately with our wedding and graduation we did not have time for a proper tour of the grounds and the area but since my girlfriend has family in the area we most certainly plan to come back. This is a fantastic value for the money and far beats anything you will find in a hotel, in cleanliness, comfort and value. And what hotel that you stay at is going to have such a cute Pomeranian to eat breakfast with? I loved the place so much I tipped Nancy generously and I would recommend everyone else do the same, you shouldn't have any problem affording it with the money you save from staying at a Holiday Inn!

What I loved most about it was the family managing the place. Clearly an immigrant small business ownership and very sweet couple, they discounted my room for telling them I found the place on the Internet. They have me a king-size bed and the room, though sparse, was clean, with a tv, air conditioning unit, and CFL lightbulbs (the soft light kind, not glaring). My highest priority was finding a safe place to stay because I'm a single woman and was traveling alone, with a lot of my belongings in my car. I felt perfectly at home here. The room was private, the bed huge and comfortable, and there was coffee in the office in the morning. I should say though, if you're scared off by a bathroom short a few bulbs in its mirror light or by an analog tv, this is not your place. I was happy!

Seemed to be short handed but they all worked hard and buffet was always filled. We checked what we wanted for dessert on the lengthy list of all homemade choices. We got in late Friday night, unfortunately we found the next day we had bed bugs in our room. We have pictures and we showed the owners. We asked to check out early and I asked for a refund. The manager messed around forever on the computer then gave me a print out and wrote on my paperwork showing that my credit card was already billed for the weekend but that it would be refunded for the weekend and the trouble we had with the bed bugs. It has been since July, I have emailed and tried calling and they do not answer their phone. My credit card still does not show a refund from them. I do not recommend this place to stay! I would drive to the nearest town and stay some place that is trustworthy.
