Lovely pours of interesting wines, fine specialty cocktails, a bunch of shared plates that included flatbreads, olives, charcuterie, cheese and ultimately a couple of dozen oysters that disappeared almost before the server was able to make it back to the kitchen. What's more to like? Especially nice touches on the oysters that sat on a bed of sea salt with toppings available that included fermented horseradish, a nicely seasoned jalapeno puree and a red wine reduction to perk up the briny little invertebrates. Yum. We did not mess around, spared no overindulgences (burp) and still barely managed to spend $300. Yes, that's a lot of money, but when something is this well put together, very well worth the price in my opinion. And when you're spending that much, any sin gets pointed out in great detail. No such issue. Love to return here and concur with fellow Yelpers the strong rating for this venue. Highly recommended.

Oh, and they have Les Robarts by Suenen. I had to visit four wine stores in Champagne to get two bottles of that. Good luck finding that anywhere else.

The oyster of the week were the Melpeque's which starts off salty, but compensates the saline flavor with a boom of sea mineral richness. Oakley checked in on use occasionally and was also kind enough to give us (since we're Californians) some of the usual things that take place in Calgary (weather, places to check out and etc.) Definitely returning here if we make another trip to Calgary, shout out to Oakley!

Also no explaining any of the dishes - where the oysters came from, what the mignonette sauce was composed of - nada. Plunked down and gone. Oysters were ok - not the ocean flavour I would like. Sauce looked packaged. Had a Caesar salad because our server said it was very good - well your friendly neighbourhood grocery store would have had same, maybe better. The dressing was also drowning the salad so half way through, all you could taste was sauce...lettuce, bacon were floating in it. Steak tartare was very fatty - you could see the chopped up fat which detracted from the beef flavour, certainly not a fav. The accompanying potato chips were heavy, fatty and really an excellent bread with some pickles and mustard would have done the job. The waygu burger actually had a grocery slice of cheese on it - for $34. For the price, a cheese that worked with the caramelized onions, gruyere, swiss or brie would have added so much and complemented the beef. All in all a formulaic service and standard food. Nothing exciting. If the food isn't exciting the staff are not going to be excited to serve it. That was obvious.
