A hidden gem behind the Kwik Trip on the corner of 51 and 70. The Wild Boar has an extremely vast and unique menu offering game meats and their own bakery items. The inside was charming, a traditional looking Northwoods establishment, and it was very clean. The two girls working were extremely pleasant as well. The food is incredible. Everything is seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. The portions are very generous and the toast selection is phenomenal. We had the meat lovers omelette and the raspberry oatmeal pancakes. The pancakes were the best I've ever had, and they're going to keep me full for a very long time because of the oats that were mixed into the batter, I didn't even put syrup on them they were that good. I think we have an official "spot" for breakfast now. The Wild Boar has a lot of really interesting wild game options that you won't find elsewhere, plus a lot of in house bakery items. I stuck with a classic breakfast of maple sausage patties, perfectly done over medium eggs, tater tots (LOVE that this is an option) and homemade cranberry wild rice bread. That bread was amazing - dense and full of cranberries - our server said she recommends people get the turkey sandwich on it and I can see why! Prices are reasonable and the plates are big. This breakfast spot is tucked away but you can get right in! They have Bloody Mary's, great size cups of coffee and serve a Sunday Brunch & full breakfast menu at the same time. We had lunch there, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was attentive, even though they were busy. The food came out quickly and hot. Ample portions, and very tasty. I had the Philly sandwich, with a very good au jus. Lots of tender roast beef, and al dente fresh peppers and onions, with not too much cheese on top. Had to use a knife and fork it was so big. My wife had the BLT. Quite good Their potato salad wa delicious, with a hint of bacon. Stopped in for breakfast on a quiet Monday morning before leaving town and we had a great meal. It's definitely an "Up North" kind of place but that's what we were looking for. All our meals were delicious. Everything had extra flavor which was appreciated. There were sprinkles on all the waffles and French toast and seasoning on the eggs which added a little touch to the plates. I had the Peasant Omelet which had all my favorites: bacon, cheese, and hash browns! A side of tater tots hit the spot. My daughter enjoyed her Belgian waffle. We also enjoyed the Strawberry Stuffed French toast and the special of the day was Blueberry Fritter French Toast that was covered in fresh blueberries. Confronted with out-front advertising and a menu card that, at first, suggested this might have changed to a Mexican restaurant, I wasn't excited about staying for breakfast. I changed my mind when I saw traditional breakfast fare listed (and served all day) and I'm glad I did. The meat-lovers omelette was terrific with a generous amount of ham, sausage and cheese. My companion was pleased by her chicken salad sandwich (the accompanying potato salad was pretty bland) and soup as well. A disappointment was the freshly made bread and the highly touted cinnamon roll. The wheat bread was dry and the cinnamon roll served cut in half with the frosting on the side, left it dry as well. Service was quick and friendly and price higher than expected but not out of line. I'd return but wish they still offered the fresh muffins I remember from years past. read more

Solid 4 - the food was honestly better that I expected! Wanted to Try Era but it was crazy busy so came up the road to here - and we are always looking for a good breakfast but just hadn't tried this place. My omelet was really good. The tots were amazing. The bacon and sausage pretty good. Fruit was really fresh. The 4 is strictly for the food. Unfortunately they forgot to put in our order so took a long while for food and the place can definitely use a update on table clothes and animals on walls. The light breading was perfect. Stopped here for the first time for breakfast. They have a unique selection of Benedict's, which I love! I tried the smoked salmon Benedict with capers, onion, tomatoes, spinach and hollandaise. They serve it properly with poached eggs thank you! It was delicious! Unfortunately the hash browns were cold but I wouldn't have eaten much of those anyway. I let the waitress know and she thanked me for telling her. They also feature rabbit and venison sausage if you want something really unique! First visit - cute place. Stopped for lunch on a Wednesday as they are closed on Tuesdays. Our server was courteous and friendly, helping us make our choices for lunch. Food was served fast and hot - everything was delicious. They have some small bakery cases and a small bar serving cocktails, beer and wine. We picked up several blueberry turnovers for breakfast at the cabin - the turnovers were average at best but the brownies looked great - I'll try those the next visit. We had a very nice dinner here and wanted to give them the props they deserve. First of all, we liked the menu which contained many items not seen at other restaurants. Ostrich Wellington? Osso Bucco? My wife ordered the Torellini Gratinata and really enjoyed it. It contains chicken, shrimp and wild boar bacon - which I was smart enough to sample - delish. The sauce of course is what makes the dish- a wonderful blend of rosemary Parmesan and garlic. Her salad before dinner was fresh and worth mentioning. Kudos also to the half loaf of warm bread. I tried the pan fried bluegill- another hit. It comes with beans, fries and hush puppies - a nice touch. Our daughter had the Alfredo noodles. The prices on the kids menu are very fair as were the prices on the house wine. The wine selection is pretty good for those looking for something better than house. Overall, we really liked our meal - I'm not sure what the other reviewer here didn't like about this place. We are glad we tried it out! **the breakfast menu looked good and we will try that soon. This used to be the location for Ella's. I can only speak about the breakfast here at Wild Boar: Came in on a Sunday morning with a hangover. I got a hash brown griddle with ham and some other meat. There was a male waiter who was super nice and helpful, but our waitress was awful! It was as if she couldn't handle more than one thing at a time. She was never rude, just seemed to have issues when asking for more than one thing at a time. The food needed salt, BAD! I'm not usually a salty person (no pun intended), but I needed to add a good bit of salt to my food. I guess this is good for people who can't have salt, but I felt it was super bland and tasteless without some salt. I also ordered a smoothie and the waitress was honest and told me it was premixed. I tried it anyway and it was pretty nasty, I would definitely skip on that! I would pick somewhere else to grab breakfast. Not only did we have to sit in the Minocqua traffic on the way back into town, but my tastebuds (and headache) were left feeling less than satisfied. read more

Was there July 3 2019, although the food was 5 stars(fresh and portioned perfectly) but the service was subpar. :( it was busy and we had a really young and novice waitress. She was rather ill mannered. ( ie: she came to the table and asked what we wanted and didnt greet us) I also didn't like that her shirt was dirty/stained and tryed to tell us her penmanship was bad so she may come back to redo the order. Surpirse I was not when my order came incorrect. BUT in light of that the savor of the day was the waitress with the pink bandana( sorry didnt get your name) she was amazing and covered her tables and fixed all of the younger ones mistakes. If we had pink bandana waitress it would be 5 stars since she and the chef were amazing read more
