She didn't bat an eye at our ask to cater for 135 people at our house and helped us come up with a way to setup two beautiful taco stations that kept lines short and flowing. We had some dietary preferences in our group that I hadn't heard of before and they were able to accommodate it all. Their passed appetizers are phenomenal--I could eat a whole meal of just the tuna tostadas--and the taco bar was so good I saw multiple picky friends go back for seconds. We were a little worried about not having enough food but that's hilarious now knowing how generous their portions were. We shared so many leftovers with family and neighbors and still had a week's worth of food for ourselves which was perfect for two tired newlyweds. Their service was just above and beyond. Everyone on the team was so friendly and patient with our guests. They made sure my husband and I got to try all the food by bringing us a sampler platter of appetizers. Plus every time I walked by the ladies were gassing me up with compliments and one offered to help me zip up my dress when I couldn't find my mom. They left our garage cleaner than I've ever seen it and the gift-wrapped cookbook we found the next day was such a fun surprise! Now I'm just looking for another excuse to throw a party so they can cater again.

The main dishes are expertly crafted with a nice creole/cajun comfort; serving up some serious flavor! The desserts were alright. Cajun Pasta: Wow, this is probably the biggest portion I ever got in San Francisco! Like the size of a suburban chain restaurant meal. Very rich too since the pasta was covered in a creamy and spicy sauce. For me, who's not used those portion sizes, it was literally 3 meals. The shrimp on top was nicely spiced and good for spreading across 1.5 meals. The pasta ratio was definitely out of control and so good. Creole Shimp + Grits: Another delicious shrimp + carbs dish. A really good portion for lunch, though not as wild as the cajun pasta portion. The creole sauce was amazing. So much flavor. And lots of it. Ensured that every spoonful of buttery grits had some flavor on top. The amount of shrimp was decent. Shrimp Po Boy: Plump shrimp fried right to order, so they come out nice and crispy. Pretty simple arrangement with chewy bread, lettuce and tomatoes. There were sauce packets on the table, but a homemade remoulade would have been nicer. Banana Pudding: The flavor was good, but the Nilla Wafer ratio was skewed. I guess there is a thing as too many cookies and banana slices, but not enough pudding. So felt kinda crunchy. Chocolate Cake: A simple chocolate cake with a simple sugar glaze.

On a recent morning, I saw their menu sign (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=vMAxSxAm_8G-6SAJsKcgLA) and called and texted friends about this item. I bought a crab clam chowder, bowl (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=EIKkQRLkRjlApMZNI90Z8w) and was immediately surprised by the generous portion; I took a spoonful when I reached my car and found it coyingly salty. Not wanting to waste it, I made a point to stop at the neighborhood supermarket to pick up a quart of low-fat milk. I added an equal portion of milk to soup and reheated a cup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=hyFJ19p0ks0209JRkOUK4A) as part of my dinner. This was really good as it's hard to beat hot soup. The soup base, consistent with their cuisine, had a Cajun flair with a bit of spiciness to contrast the creaminess of the chowder. There were clams and potatoes in the soup base and, in apportioning my order, the kind lady added crab meat and parsley to top the soup. This actually became three separate meal accompaniments. My friend who works nearby bought a bowl but, also finding it too salty, gifted it to a coworker. My friend returned her gifted cup to me and I repeated my reheating process for yet another meal. I enjoyed my soup but only after tweaking their creation at home. I hope they adjust the recipe going forward. Also, please note that the listed price for the cup size is actually $10.00, not $8.00 as listed on their sign.

This was my first time planning a party for 60 people, and I wanted to get it right. I researched a ton of different cuisines, but ultimately came back to City Smoke House because of their flawless track record. Honestly, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time exploring other options because City exceeded even my highest expectations. The party was at a nightclub in the Castro, and the delivery was perfectly on time. The customer service 1000%. They even provided custom cards for each dish so guests knew exactly what they were eating, a small but thoughtful touch that people really appreciated. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, chicken, smoked portobello mushrooms, barbecue sauces, mac & cheese, potato salad, and tossed salad. With an open bar, I didn't expect the food to steal the show, but it did. Friends and family were raving all night, , "Where is this food from?" The next day, my phone was blowing up with texts about the brisket, the mac & cheese, the works. (For the record: I'm extremely picky about mac & cheese, and City nailed it.) My cousin from the Midwest said that the portobello mushrooms were his favorite. The portions were so generous we had enough to host a next-day gathering to enjoy the leftovers, though the mac & cheese disappeared the night of the party so order extra! In a city like San Francisco, where great BBQ is rare, I only wish City Smoke House had a brick-and-mortar location I could frequent. This is a family-owned business that delivers in every possible way, and I'm beyond grateful to them for making my milestone celebration unforgettable. I hope they stay booked and busy. THANK YOU BRIAN and team City Smoke House.

As soon as we ate the food, we knew exactly that we had to hire them! The food was amazing, they made us feel like we were eating at home with them. Yes, they were expensive, but they do ALOT and provide alot and during+after the wedding, we had so many people telling us it was the absolute best food they have ever eaten at a wedding. - They helped coordinate linens and rentals and helped us when we wanted to do a second meeting to confirm our selections. - They gracefully answered questions throughout when finalizing our menu, and the 2nd tasting was just as delicious as the first. Their service and warmth did not diminish one bit after we signed. - During the wedding day, mr Michi himself handed us a handroll right after the ceremony, and that honestly was one of the moments I remember vividly. - The late night snacks were much appreciated by people, and after dancing, people appreciated the extra fuel. - They even helped clean up afterwards! Even for things that werent part of dinner. Honeslty made our wedding the event of a lifetime and it wouldn't have been the same without the amazing Michi family catering us.

We had two tastings, one upon signing the contract and a final one closer to the date where we were able to bring along family and a close friend. They served us full plates of every dish so we even left with plenty of leftovers, which was such a fun bonus for us! Throughout the planning process, they were very easy to communicate with and were highly responsive via email. It was super convenient having them coordinate the table design at their warehouse, including the linens, plateware, and glassware. While the design meeting isn't a "boutique" curated experience, their warehouse has plenty of options to choose from if you already have a general color palette and vibe in mind. On the wedding day, the staff was extremely attentive and brought us hand rolls before cocktail hour even started to ensure we actually got to eat. The live hand roll station was a massive hit with our guests and absolutely delicious. I also appreciated how open they were to our custom cocktails; I provided my own recipe and li hing powder for a pineapple li hing margarita, which they executed perfectly. Cost-wise, this is not a budget vendor and is on the more expensive side. However, the full-service, high-touch planning and day-of experience, from the tastings to the seamless coordination of all design elements, completely justified the price. You truly get what you pay for, and we have no regrets. If food is a top priority for your wedding, we highly recommend Michi's. Their expertise made our day so special, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!
