Everything has been repaired but the communication in the beginning was less than acceptable. Also…read moreeverything was going great, repairs being completed, items ordered, etc. but then the maintenance manager came up to me while I was outside and said he was replacing the oven as a favor to me. I explained to him I am not looking for any favors but for everything to work as they should. He made it seem like he was doing me a favor and not his job. In the end I am happy with the repairs. Mack is top notch and an asset to their team, the maintenance manager needs to learn some customer service skills. I am very happy here and with the community. Everyone is nice and friendly, very pet friendly community.

We have put up with this apartment complex for 8 months now, and I can't stay silent any longer…read more Like many of the other reviews, the maintenance responses are horrendous. They either do not respond at all, or they slap a bandaid on a massive problem and call it fixed. The latest saga is pictured below, our upstairs neighbors flooded our unit with piss water and the office/maintenance team has done NOTHING about it for days. We were promised someone would be by to look at it today, and unsurprisingly, nobody came. Our AC unit is broken and our apartment reeks of piss. It's absolutely disgusting. We thought we lucked out with this apartment complex because it's deceptively presented as nice, but we were incredibly wrong. The most upsetting part of all of this, is that we're not even in the unit we were promised originally. Two/three days before moving in, in the middle of a cross country drive from California, we got a call saying our top story unit (that was supposedly available a month prior when we signed the lease) was suddenly not available. They said we could take another unit, or we were out of luck. If we had gotten the unit we originally signed a lease for, we wouldn't be in this situation right now. A good summary of how they handle maintenance here is that, when we moved in, we noticed almost all of the nails in the carpet were sticking up and pricking/stabbing us while we walked. When maintenance FINALLY showed up, the told us "oh just hit them with a hammer yourselves". DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX.

Don't rent here...we underwent a couple of emergency hardships, and we are paid bi weekly. The…read moreresult is that we fell behind in our rent. We were capable of paying 2/3 of what we owed, and were ready to pay for the remaining 1/3 in ten days, delays due to bi-weekly pay check issues. Landlord would not hear anything about it. This mystified us, as we had always been a little tardy with payments due to the bi-weekly paychecks, and he accepted this for over 17 years, with late fees paid without issues. Now all of a sudden he took an all or nothing position, plus another $500 in legal fees that he claimed were generated by his lawyer filling out a two page eviction threat form. We had been calling this landlord clown for about 10 days before this random chance meeting in his office, and he had completely ignored us up to that point. We were trying to express our questions and concerns to his secretary. His secretary stated that he has many people calling him about these issues, and he just ignores these calls. His secretary suggested that she found it frustrating having to ignore these people at his request. During this conversation with his secretary, he happened to come into his office, and we finally faced him directly. He simply stated that he does not respond to these inquiries, as "they are in the hands of his lawyer." The secretary went silent. It was at this point that he gave his all or nothing ultimatum, and we happily decided to leave this scum. He runs his property very poorly. He will "fix" things that have nothing to do with the real quality of the facility; he will spend 1000's replacing bushes making a few sidewalk dips for disabled, cutting down all the trees, or put in a new pavilion, but does nothing to deal with the numerous pot holes that infest his parking lots, expect replace it with this crappy tar gravel that ends up coming out the pot holes anyways. Every year these pot holes get bigger and bigger. You may also not the structural damage on the left side of the front roof corner as you come in. These two things should raise red flags in most savvy apartment hunters. He maintenance man is lazy, and makes you feel like a pain in the ass when repair service requests. Many tenants chose not to deal with him, as at least one elderly lady also coo-berated, and live with falling apart bathrooms, kitchen areas, etc. Me and another tenant laughed as we saw a group of landscapers that he hired leaf blowing leaves on the edge of the property INSIDE the tree line of the woods. When it snows, I hope you do not work third shift, or work in a job that does not accept "snow days", as his lazy boy maintenance man will not even start the engine of his snow plow until the snow stops falling. When we left, the joke of a land lord took the security deposit and had not problem charging another month of rent for December even though we were only there until Dec 3. He also loves to over charge, essentially profit take, his legal fees, which he happily passes to tenants on for an additional hundreds of dollars. Something to heavy for you to lift and get out of the apartment? Don't worry, if you leave it behind, he will charge you hundreds. Does this landlord clown want to keep his business? Maybe he sub consciously does not, and wants to drive people away. When we left, it looked as if almost half of the rentable units in the building were unoccupied. Brian Ghilliotti Update: The only handicapped access to the facility I was in was a ramp that led out to the back by the pool. You then had a choice: take the side walk straight, and go over a section of side walk that is completely destroyed -and unsuitable for wheel chairs or push walkers- on account of the fact that the ground in that area gets saturated with ground water during the rain. Then you can walk all the way around the building to the left toward east lot, which has a handicapped side walk dip to the parking lot. Or you can turn right, and keep going for even longer distance toward the west lot. I did not see work done to make a handicapped side walk dip to the west parking lot. Instead you have to keep going all the way around the west side of the building and then along the northern side of the building until you reach the front entrance. For all the money spent on making handicapped side walk dips to the northern and eastern parking lots, this land lord clown did nothing to create some sort of ramping at the stairway area in the front entrance. I hope people who use wheelchairs & walkers have help with going down the front entrance stairs; otherwise, plan on taking a long trip to the handicapped ramp in the back of the building. It will be a real pain the the winter. Many times the sidewalks leading from the handicapped ramp in the back are uncleared for a long time after a snow fall. Part of it is laziness, the other part is that the sidewalks are in such poor shape that it is too difficult to shovel. Brian Ghilliotti

Management has failed to provide a secure front door for the 1160 building the entire time I have…read morelived here. A new elevator was installed which breaks down even more than the old one. Elderly men and women must climb multiple flights of stairs with heavy groceries because they are unable to fix a brand new elevator. The pool did not open this year either due to a maintenance issue. Also, you may as well live in the same unit as the tenants above and below you because there is no soundproofing whatsoever. People constantly fight and yell at all hours of the night and nice cars are broken into and wheels are stolen. Overall, the quality of this place continues to decline as rent continues to increase. I highly recommend finding anywhere else to live as it is less than mediocre at Stonegate.

I just moved out of Town Place after living there for five years. It was a great experience all…read morearound and I would recommend it to anyone looking in the Middletown/Cromwell, CT area. Everyone who works there, from the management/office staff to the maintenance people have been great! The location is perfect as you are only about a mile or so from I-91 and two miles from Rt. 9. It's about 20 minutes from Hartford and 35 from New Haven. But it's a quiet area as it is set far enough off of a main road that you don't get any traffic noise. It's also only about a ten minute drive from Main Street in Middletown which is great for bars, restaurants, movies and some shops. In five years, I think I needed to call maintenance only three times (two times were minor problems), and all three times my issues were fixed immediately. That includes this past Fourth of July when my A/C unit crapped out. On a holiday, from the minute I called to the time it was fixed, took under 45 minutes total. These people are good. I've seen some people say the price is a little high, but it's comparable for the area as I looked at others before I chose Town Place. And keep in mind, included in the rent they have a nice pool which gets sun all day and never gets over-crowded, and a small but nice, clean gym with good equipment. They also have some grilling stations around the property including a couple of very nice ones built into stonework in the pool area. Every unit has a washer/dryer and some have fireplaces as well. They had also just begun putting up new siding on all of the buildings. As for the reviewer that gave this only one star...I have no idea what he's talking about. His complaints are ridiculous. Of course there are rent increases, that happens everywhere. And his comment about the lease? Again, no idea what he's talking about. It couldn't possibly have been more simple - nothing sneaky about it at all. Especially compared to the War & Peace version I had to sign at my new place! Even upon move-out, everything was painless. And I had my security deposit back in less than two weeks! Overall, the property is nice, it's convenient to everything, the grounds are well maintained, the amenities are good, and the office and maintenance staff are great! I recommend Town Place to anyone looking in the area.

Still 2 years later and now a home owner, I would never rent from this place.
