I am clumsy, I walked in with basically zero confidence, and I'm pretty sure I invented a few new ways to make simple exercises look complicated. Somehow, Thomas never made me feel embarrassed. He just kept encouraging me, correcting my form, and convincing me I was capable of more than I thought. Against my better judgment, he kept telling me to do "one more rep" and "trust the process." Unfortunately for me... he was right. I'm down 12 pounds and 4% body fat, and the funniest part is I wasn't even following all of his instructions. (Apparently I was supposed to walk on my non-training days. I thought those were strong suggestions LOL) The gym is always clean, the equipment is well maintained, and all of Thomas's clients are nice. Everyone is encouraging, celebrates each other's progress, and makes the gym feel welcoming instead of intimidating. Now I have more energy, my clothes fit better, and people keep asking what I've been doing. So thanks for that, Thomas I guess. A…read morelittle history: 36 years old, female, used to work in the kitchen for a while, jacked up my body - herniated discs, costochondritis (arthritis in the ribs, yes that's a thing, look it up), sprained right ankle that never healed, surgery in my left hand which resulted in my right hand compensating.. yada yada, the list goes on. And then for about a year I just ate a bunch of junk, sat on my ass for days and days, never exercised or stretched - I come with baggage, to say the least. I chose this gym for mainly the following reasons: 1) there were old grammas in the pictures - because I totally identify with them 2) Kei studied Kinesiology at USC 3) the pricing is super fair 4) I liked their website, Yelp page, and general online presence. I've been training with Kei for about 3 months now. We had to start super slow but Kei took his time, never rushed me, paid very close attention to my complaints, and always knew how to adjust so that I could continue to strengthen without any further injuries. I've definitely gotten stronger - household duties have gotten considerably easier. I just feel so. much. better. The goal is to get lean and mean, which I'm sure Kei and Mars can take me there but most importantly I needed someone who could help rehabilitate this broken body and Kei delivered. :D And training is fun. When I first started training with Carlos about 18 months ago, I honestly didn't have an expectation on what I was getting myself into but I soon found out I'd become a loyal customer. In the beginning, I still had a gym membership with 24 hr fitness; one that I'd had for about 10 years but I rarely if ever went to. I'm happy to say I have stopped wasting be my money with24 hr fitness and am more than happy with the results I have had under the instruction of Carlos. In the beginning, I was a little scared. I'd never really done any weight training but I must say, I love it!!!! I come consistently every week, three times a week because I LOOK forward to my workouts. Yes, I may complain while I am doing them, but I feel really good after I am done. I'm really impressed at what I have accomplished with my squats, deadlifts, push presses and bench presses, along with all the other stuff I thought I'd never be strong enough to do. Don't let the small look of the gym deceive you! You will see results. I am the strongest I have ever been. Not only can I see the physical changes in my body, I can feel them too. When I started I had a really awful lower back pain...gone! I injured my shoulder doing rec sports and Carlos helped me nurse my injury and continue training. Carlos is seriously awesome!
