We have never been disappointed. Steve is honest and straight forward - he always talks us through the options and lays out the pros and cons of each without any pressure or hidden agenda. We have a list of projects we are looking to do in the coming months (and years); there is nobody I would trust more than Steve to get the jobs done!

Steve Raymond is a wonderful contractor! We have used him for years for small projects, and…read morerecently hired him to do a big project: adding a new room on our home. He gave us a fair quote, helped us through the whole process, and did great work, the room is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! Whenever unexpected issues arose, he found and explained the root cause and offered a solution at a very reasonable price. Right at the end, when we found the door was cut to the wrong size at the factory, Steve advocated for us and secured a brand new door at no extra cost. Steve is remarkably punctual and dedicated to his craft. He maintains constant communication, ensuring we're promptly informed of any developments. His pricing is consistently fair, and his work exemplifies quality and precision. Steve consistently seeks to address challenges in the most effective manner. When we faced an issue with rotten siding, he was the sole contractor to propose fixing the flashing above the siding, preventing any future problems. It's this level of attention to detail and commitment that truly distinguishes him. His quotes are always fair, and very accurate. If the price goes up, he asks first and offers a variety of solutions. If the price goes down, he's always returned the excess at the end. I'd trust Steve for any project at my house, big or small. He's a wonderful person, and a wonderful contractor.

Eric Duchesne, the owner of Decks-N-More in Nashua NH, is a crook and a drunk…read more Our association hired Eric to do a few small jobs which were done "OK." We then needed a larger job - to replace 21 doors for a little under $26,000. He originally wanted a deposit of $19,000 - almost 75% -- substantially more than the usual 50%. We refused but agreed to divide the project in half and give him a 65% deposit ($8,800) for the first phase. He was supposed to use the deposit to purchase materials to be stored on our property. Instead, after many months of phone calls and excuses, he showed up with just one door which wasn't as specified, but he did manage to work around the problem and install it. Then it failed and he did a temporary repair and promised to replace it, and get on with replacing 10 more. But many more months of phone calls, emails, and excuses passed. He finally arranged to return and replace the faulty door on a Monday morning. He didn't show up, wouldn't answer the phone, wouldn't respond to voice or emails, nothing. He apparently spent our money on living expenses and financing other projects as his company melted down; he wouldn't even face us. Our lawyer attempted to either recoup our money or at least get the doors he was supposed to have purchased, which he hinted that he had. Again, he didn't show up with the doors as promised and stopped responding to our attorney. We sued him in Hillsborough County NH court and he wouldn't respond to the court. Today he owes us the original $8,800 plus about $5,000 in attorney fees. Lastly, as the problems with Eric surfaced, several of our associates reported him reeking of alcohol after lunch and after an afternoon break. Look elsewhere, unless you're looking for a thief and a drunk.

I recently had Decks-N-More demolish my old 16'x10'deck and construct a new 16'x12' deck. Their…read moreestimate was actually the highest I received, but it was the most thorough and therefore I chose them for the job. As far as the new deck itself....I am very happy. The work that the 3 man crew did was excellent and the deck looks great. The problem that I have with Decks-N-More is the ridiculous overcharging when it came to replacing rotten wood between the old deck and my house. After removing the old deck, they found some rot on less than 15' of the pressure treated sill board as well as the bottom 8 inches or so of plywood sheathing along a 10 foot stretch. I confirmed with the crew that the damage did not progress any further than these boards. In total they had to replace approximately 15 feet of 2x6 (it was actually less but I am rounding up) and approximately a 10ft by 8inch piece of plywood sheathing. The wood for this would not cost more than $50 or $60 and I am being generous with this number. The crew of 3 guys took 2.5 hours to replace the rotten wood (started at 11:40AM and finished just before 3PM with a 1 hour lunch) The owner Eric ended up charging me $800 for the repair, and claimed he was doing me a favor as he should be charging me $1200. When I complained he did reduce it to $700, but this was still grossly overcharged. Do the math....$700 paid - $60 in stock = $640 in labor.....that equals $256 per hour in labor!!! He tried to give me a song and dance about increased liability, some nonsense about how he pays the guys and so on, but from my perspective this is a gross overcharge on a job that was already on the high end as far as pricing. It's a shame because the 3 man crew that worked at my house was professional and did a great job. I can't understand why a contractor would be willing to weather bad reviews over a few hundred dollars but Eric is. I informed him of my feelings and that I would be posting reviews to reflect my dissatisfaction and he seemed to not care. My advice to anyone thinking about hiring this company: DON'T. But if you insist on dealing with them, do yourself a favor and pin them down on the written estimate as to how such things will be billed (get them to put in writing the per hour labor cost and request receipts for the material used).

I was so impressed by the photos they posted I just had to write a review! Our previous home was a…read morefixer upper and needed a complete renovation, which was very costly. The house we now own is brand new. What prompted me to review this company is the owner's comment about their "smooth as glass" finishes without any nail hole marks and such. I also noticed that this company used the appropriate paint finish for trims and hallways and such, which means they received proper training. We've hired a painting company in the past that loved to use matte finishes everywhere, including high traffic areas. Within 2 weeks, these high traffic areas quickly developed marks and handprints, so the walls had to be repainted with washable paint. I also noticed that the "after" photographs of worn materials were fixed, patched up, and painted to "like new" condition! Incredible. Looks way better than the paint finishes in our brand new house, btw. Their prices are also very reasonable. We're finishing our basement bathroom and I wanted to hire this company ASAP---until I realized they're in a different state about an hour away from us. Boohoo.

I don't know why it says San Francisco, since I'm in NH…read more Steve did the two things that, from my point of view, are unforgivable for a contractor. He said that his quote was too low when he showed up to start work and didn't want to do the job. And then, after he said he'd give it a try, he quit in the middle of the job to work on another job. Here is the whole story. I hired Steve in September to clean and stain my large deck. He said he didn't need to come over to see it. I should just send him pictures, which I did, along with the dimensions. He quoted me a price for cleaning and a price for staining. There was a lot of rain in September here. When there were finally a few dry days, Steve came over to clean the deck. He immediately told me that the deck was huge and he would lose a lot of money at the prices he quoted. I offered to give him some extra money. He was still unsure whether to do the job but said he'd start and "see how it goes". Although he does have a pressure washer, he didn't bring it. He intended to spray on the cleaner and then just hose it off. Our deck needed a better cleaning than that, so I started scrubbing it (with a special scrub brush that I had bought) after he sprayed on the cleaner. This worked pretty well. Steve then borrowed the brush and continued to use it. He did a mediocre cleaning job. My wife and I did some additional cleaning after he left. There continued to be a lot of rainy days. After another week or so, Steve contacted me and told me that he wouldn't be able to complete the job. He had another job for a builder, I think, that he had to start. And he didn't know if or when he could come back. So, I had to go hire someone else to stain the deck.
