Every time my Victorinox needs a battery, I bring it here. They do the work while I wait, and for a fair price.

They charge 4.00 for a batter and 41.70 for labor to install. When I went to pick up my watch, there was another customer in there. The customer too needed a battery. The lady who was helping her noted that the battery change would be 20 or some dollars and to clean the watch would be an extra 20 or some dollars. When my watch came out they told me the total was 45.00 and I asked how much did it cost to change the battery. The woman who worked there said it's the type of watch and mentioned of a few other things they had to "look" at. Do not go here. 45.00 for a change in batter is crazy. Also when I brought in my watch, I asked for a battery and the lady said 45 dollars and it will be 35 mins and just walked away. She never took my name or phone number. After several minutes of waiting for her to come back out, which she never did I left. read more

I went in to drop off a Swiss Army for a repair after someone in a mall said they could not seal the watch for water resistance. They did it for me while I waited for not a lot of money. I needed to use the rest room so I got to see the repair shop. It looked like a hospital OR with the watchmakers in lab coats and more equipment than I had ever seen or could identify. I was so impressed that when I needed a new watch I went back. They have brands that you never see in the mall, and the sales guys took the time to explain all of the features of stuff in all price ranges. I wound up spending more than I had planned because I fell in love with one of the Ball watches, coolest watch ever. Also they are national service center for a ton of brands. I recommend them for all your watch needs. read more

I had taken my 60 year old Swiss watch to two other jewelery/watch repair places, but although they charged me, neither repair was satisfactory. I finally took it to The Watchmaker in Stoneham, MA. It was a long time before they were done, but the wait was well worth it. It has now been more than five years, and my watch (a gift from a now deceased relative) is still working well. Everything about my experience with The Watchmaker was fantastic. I walked in with my Victorinox to get a band replaced and battery replaced. I was told no problem - they'll do it while I wait. I chatted with employees as I browsed watches in the gallery. When the watch was fixed and tested per the manufacturers specs I was surprised at how inexpensive the price was. I brought in the band for the watch but still thought it'd be more. As I was being rung up I even had a little convo about the watch I was wearing at the time which was fun, too. Overall the skill of the workmanship, pricing and demeanor of the staff was great. I highly recommend. I'd trust them with all my watches - from cheapies to nicer ones. My only nitpick is I wish they were open later! Now that I've moved away from the area it's harder to get there when they're open. read more

We needed to repair our 10 years old Omega Constellation watches. The quotes we received from Omega Service center and other authorized centers were higher than the one from The Watchmaker. Initially we thought that there must be something fishy but decided to take a risk. At the end we're highly impressed by that we got. Besides the repair we needed, The Watchmaker removed all the scratches, so our watches look like brand new! And all that at the lowest price we found! read more

I'm a bit torn on this one and I think your mileage may vary with this company. I originally sent my Oris Skeleton in to the company back in October for a quote and was given an estimate of ten weeks for completion. On the tenth week I used their website to send in a status update request. I was excited to get my watch back after an extended period in the shop after my daughter dropped it on the bathroom tile and cracked the back window and affected the movement. They came back and basically told me that they were still working on other watches received before my watch and could not provide me with an estimated completion date. I was pretty annoyed by this and if I had lived in the same town as the company I probably would have picked up my watch and sent it elsewhere. But since I didn't I let it go. They could have molified me by simply stating that it would take an extra two or three weeks to complete the repairs. Instead I was left with no idea when I would receive my watch. They shipped the watch three weeks later so it took them about 30% longer than their original estimate. That being said the repair was great. I requested they repair the cracked window, service the watch movement, polish/buff the steel case and replace the leather strap. They did all of this and I received my five year old watch looking pretty close to the way it looked when I first purchased it. There was one deep scratch they couldn't buff out but I suspect nobody could. The time was drifting off by about ten minutes or more a day after my daughter dropped it and so far the watch is keeping perfect time. Also, before it seems like the reserve was reduced prior to servicing. For example, if I took the watch off before going to bed the movement would stop before I woke up the next day. Now, the watch is able to make it through the night without stopping. This could just be my perception though. The repair was expensive costing me about a third of the purchase price of the watch but a good portion of that was the replacement Oris leather strap Ultimately, I'd recommend this company with qualifications. If you send a watch in add an additional few weeks to their time estimate, and don't expect any communications from the company or if you do communicate with the company, in my opinion, expect poor communications. I was very pleased with the repair so their work is solid. If I could break out the rating I'd say 4.5 or 5 stars for their work and 2 stars for communication/customer service. If possible I think I'd actually rate the company a 3.5. If you're the type of person who can send their watch in and forget about it until you get it back this may be a perfect experience for you. read more

I had a great experience at the Watchmaker. The band on my watch has been broken for awhile and while getting a battery change, I finally decided to get the band swapped as well. I dropped in with no appointment and they had my watch as good as new in less than 15 minutes. Getting back into a rigorous exercise routine so after 2+ years in a drawer I found my Polar FT7 watch and transmitter batteries completely dead. Looked online seeing $9-12 for each battery along with advice to have a professional replace them. Over the last 10 years or so I've sent watches here 2-3 times for new batteries, and had great service - good communication and quick turnaround. I'd get my watch back a little over a week from when I sent it in. These were Swiss Army and Tag Heuer watches and I don't remember what I paid for this service, but it was in line with the advertised prices on the website, "$21 and up" for battery change and a water resistance test. I recently sent two watches to The Watchmaker, a Swiss Army and Tag Heuer, and two weeks after the date my watches had been received, I still hadn't received any email or phone call. I called for an update and was told that they hadn't had time to look at my watches yet. Shortly after this conversation, I received an email with photos of my watches and an estimate: $50 to replace the battery on the Swiss Army watch, $125 to replace the battery on the Tag Heuer. This is an absolutely ridiculous price. I had my watches returned to me and had the Swiss Army battery replaced at a local watch repair shop for $18. I sent the Tag to Tag Heuer's Customer Service Center in NJ and had the battery changed for $95 - this includes new gaskets, checking the watch movement, water resistance test, etc., and return shipping. Customer service is much, much better than The Watchmaker. I would never send a watch here again. read more

The Watchmaker did a fantastic job servicing and polishing my ORIS Artelier dress watch. The watch looks brand new with all of the scratches it had on the case and bracelet buffed out. The automatic mechanism is keeping good time to within a second or two daily. I can tell a big difference in the smoothness of the mechanism in winding it and adjusting the hands. All around great experience dealing with The Watchmaker staff. Very professional and communicative throughout the process. Would recommend them to other ORIS owners here in the U.S. who need their watch professionally serviced by factory trained staff and using OEM ORIS parts. read more

Based on The Watchmaker's credentials on their website, I recently brought a vintage Hamilton watch to them for servicing. The watch had belonged to my father and was in excellent if not outstanding condition. I left it with them with the understanding that they would inspect the watch, and prepare an estimate for a fee of 65$, refundable if I agreed to have them do the work. When I received the estimate I was shocked at the total - $600.00. As a result I did not have them do the work and lost $65.00. Keep in mind that a pre-repair inspection is simply looking inside to make sure all the parts are there, there is no obvious mechanical damage and that there is no rust. This is a 4 or 5 minute process! I ended up taking the watch to a local jeweler/watch repair business where the owner looked at the watch, declared that if was in remarkable condition, and agreed to service it and polish the case and crystal for a verbal estimate of about $125.00. I couldn't be happier with the job that was done. The watch looks like new and runs perfectly. I suggest that if you are contemplating having The Watchmaker do some work, do so only if you have very deep pockets. read more

I had a good experience with the Watchmaker. They initially took all the serial numbers and were very thorough in recording every detail of the watch. They meticulous examined my watch and indicated what needed to be replaced. They were very pricey, but the quality of the work was outstanding. The turn around time, however, was slow but that may have been due to the type of watches I was servicing, Rolex Date Just and Rolex Presidential. It took approximately two months to get the watches back but they look and run perfectly. The Watchmaker did something that no other shop I have dealt with has done. They gave me all the original parts packaging from Rolex and all the parts that were replaced. They are not recycling parts, they are replacing the parts with original parts from the manufacturer. That alone spoke volumes to me as to the quality of the work. They're slow and pricey, but worth every penny. I'd give them 5 stars if the turnaround were quicker. read more

Don't even let them replace your battery because they can switch the genuine parts your watch had when you brought it in with knockoff parts without your knowledge. I discovered their scam 2 years too late (according to the Attorney General's office)when I tried to sell my Omega watch. Evidently, The Watchmaker (the old guy with the glasses and facial hair) did not repair my watch with genuine Omega parts as promised! He led me to believe the only way to fix my watch was to get the parts from Omega. It turned out they replaced the movement with a fake knock-off part from China. I can't recoup the money they charged me because they ruined the value of the watch. The moral of the story is don't even think about investing in an expensive watch because like I said before if you bring it somewhere to replace the battery how do you know they did not switch parts. Also don't even think about buying a watch on eBay unless you can verify it has genuine parts. Otherwise, it is worthless. read more
