This review is for the restaurant not the pub. We came for lunch and found all the usual Irish pub…read moreofferings. The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Murphy's has great character and friendly service. It's a pub and a restaurant, but the atmosphere…read moreis definitely dark and pub-like. Very noisy when busy, but that's part of the fun! Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

I loved my time at the vintage. I was in town from America to see my family in Kanturk. They…read morerecommended the vintage and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I got a pint of Guinness and the roast of the day. The roast was absolutely excellent. I really enjoyed the gravy over the top and the stuffing underneath. The meat was cooked very well. The service was great and made me feel at home on the other side of the pond. I really enjoy when the server walks you through the menu after you ask questions to help you arrive at the right entree, which is exactly what happened. I will be visiting again before I go home and definitely when I come back to the fine town of Kanturk.

I'm not quite sure why The Vintage is showing as a bottle shop, but this bar/restaurant is the best…read morein town! It's warm and cozy with plenty of dining space. I love the stone and lacquered wood finishes inside. This is the kind of place where you see the owner invested and working at his restaurant. I came here with my boyfriend, his brother and sister for lunch and can say that The Vintage did not disappoint! The food here is much nicer than you would expect at a bar and there was proper wait staff which is why I would consider it more of a restaurant than bar or bottle shop. Anyway, we sat down and ordered 2 appetizers, 4 mains, 3 desserts and 2 coffees all for the whopping price of 73€, I nearly fell off my bar stool. Such good value for delicious food and good portion sizes. I shared some of the mushroom soup and brown bread which was so flavorful and creamy but not too heavy. I could eat that brown bread all day but resisted since I had a fillet of fish on the way. My fish was cooked perfectly, not over battered and super moist. Almost everyone at the table ordered the fish which was a crowd pleaser. The table shared sides of veg, potatoes and chips which were all delicious, I'd say my favorite was the broccoli. Despite being smothered in creamy maybe cheesiness, I can still say I ate my greens for the day, right? Whatever they put on it, I could eat those just on its own....ok with a side of that brown bread. I would definitely come back. It's not a fancy Star rated restaurant in looks and feel, but a warm cozy place where you could take the whole family or just enjoy with friends. I felt the food was extremely good value and service was excellent.
