I never imagined I would have the BEST drinks of my life at this cozy and intimate bar in Maine. Seriously- no bartender in Boston can even compete with the craft we witnessed at The Wallingford. The quality and creativity of ingredients makes every other drink I've tried seem...uninspired. We tried several drinks off the menu which were all insanely good. The bartender offered to make us a few of her own creations, one being an "original" Mai Thai recipe. I know it might sound dramatic but it was life changing. I didn't think a Mai Thai could be so damn good. To the owner - I applaud your menu and commitment to quality and finding such amazing bartenders. Sadly there's no comparable place in Boston so I will be back to Kittery just for this place! read more

We walked to Kittery from Portsmouth to get a drink at The Black Birch. Either that place is closed or we could not find it. But we were lucky enough to find The Wallingford Dram and our fine bartender Misty. We had 2 excellent cocktails made by a true professional. My wife got a "Golden Hour" a truly delicious tequila (100% Agave) themed beverage. I got a "Painkiller" a great rum drink reminiscent of the Islands. Both were expertly mixed and beautifully presented. If you are staying in Portsmouth walk to Kittery and go see Misty. read more

Tasty, unique drinks and charming bartenders. Might not be great if you have a really big group, because it's a small place. I had a great time here with some friends. I'm excited to go back and try some more of their cocktails. read more

One of the top two places to have a drink. The other place is their sister bar the Wilder. Great drinks, music and service. read more

Delightful. Tiny but very cozy interior in quaint Kittery with excellent atmosphere. And the cocktails...oh, the cocktails...

If you like cocktails made to perfection go here. These people are cocktail geeks. Hand cut ice to homemade orgeat they have all the bases covered. We sampled multiple cocktails during our visit to this hip cozy 25 seat bar, and greatly enjoyed them all. 100% we'll be back. read more

I challenge anyone to try to order a bad drink here. I've only been here a couple times but I will keep coming back. The drinks are a work of art and delicious. read more

It's loud but the cocktails are great. Small and intimate. So many choices. They have little plates. Biscuits with honey butter and pork bun small plates were delicious. Best part is it's connected to Anju noodle bar and you can take your cocktails to the restaurant via back-hall if you are waiting for the noodle bar. Love this spot. read more

As good as anything in Boston. Wallingford Dram nailed the tiny cocktail bar atmosphere. Its kind of cramped, but in a convivial way. They have the appropriate glassware for any drink. And the bartenders really know their stuff. I've tried four different cocktails here and I can't make a recommendation since all were fantastic. Get whatever appeals to you. read more

Great friend spot and wonderful date spot. I very rarely consume alcohol, but the drinks are so thoughtfully made with the highest quality ingredients, I would choose this spot for my rare indulgence. The menu items and non alcoholic choices are perfect for those who don't drink, so I'd go even if I weren't going for cocktails. Lovely, intimate room with a Maine/Brooklyn vibe. read more

Hands down the best bar program in Maine. If the Wallingford was in a city like Chicago, NYC or LA, they'd be destroying the competition. Portland, ME seems to get all the love in ME for cocktails, but The Wallingford slays. Want an expertly made tiki cocktail? They do it to perfection. Tonight I had a Mai Tai (and an old fashioned and a sazerac) and they had me at homemade orgeat. This is exactly how Trader Vic intended his legacy to taste. Their own cocktails are crazy inventive but not to the point of being weirdly esoteric and full of ingredients. They also make classic cocktails to perfection. The BEST old fashioned and sazerac! The bartenders are wildly talented and the staff are wonderful. But don't just stop at the drinks. Have some snacks because they are effing delicious. The welsh rarebit is a thing of beauty. It's warm and slightly spicy and soulful. Damn, I love this place and wish that they were closer to home. Btw, The Wallingford isn't pricy. $10 for a cocktail with stellar liquors and fresh ingredients is a steal. And like I said, the bar staff knows their way around a fine cocktail. read more

This place had been so great for the longest time. Seems like no matter the evening the drinks and atmosphere was great unfortunately I've noticed some of the employees in particular bartenders have changed and are no longer there. In my opinion the well-made drinks ended up leaving with them ;"( read more

Every drink I've ever had here is one of the best drinks I've ever had. They have a limited but really tasty menu. The bartenders are friendly and make every cocktail like they were going to serve it to their mothers (provided they like their mothers). read more

This place doesn't mess around with their cocktails. Whatever you order the bartenders will certainly know what they're doing and make a good drink. With good drinks comes slightly higher prices but you get what you pay for. Only gripe is it's a little small so if it's a busy night you may find seats to be an issue, however it's still worth a try. read more

My husband and I found this place by mistake... or rather, it was meant to be, that the restaurant we were planning on going did not wow us. As we walked by the building we saw dim lighting and a lot of activity outside the bar. We went over to see what was going on and I think we found a little bit of heaven. I fear sharing too much, as I am afraid too many people will find out and we won't be able to get it. The Dram is a magical cocktail bar with well educated and attentive staff, tasty small bites and the ambiance like a "bit of yesterday". read more

This place is as excellent as everyone else here reports. They do need to reprint their menus though: worn out.

A perfect little farm-to-bar spot for any foodie interested in great mixology. Locally sourced cheeses. Very knowledgeable staff. I like to try new spots, but now I only want to go to the Wallingford when in town. Loads of exploration for the taste buds in this cozy little bar. read more

Very good bartenders, friendly and very knowledgeable. Quaint place right outside the navy ship yard. We had the Mai Tai which were awesome. We are occasionally in the area and will definitely stop back in. read more

A truly incredible experience. I had a gin mule and a gin based cocktail that featured chickpea water, cardamom, and nutmeg. We also had the chef sampler meat and cheese plate, warm olives and the brisket sliders. Every sip and bite was exquisite, a full body and brain experience. We kept looking at each other in disbelief. Our bartender Chris was superb, the ambience was totally cozy and appropriate. I've had many fine cocktails at the best spots in Boston (Drink, Eastern Standard, etc) and elsewhere. This was just...even better. As good as it gets. read more

The most amazing cocktails, food, and staff! I prefer going to the Dram on a quieter night to really enjoy the atmosphere but the drinks are so good I don't mind not always getting a seat right away. We try to come here as often as we can afford, especially after a meal at Anju, next door! read more

The Wallingford Dram - Yardgate Punch! - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Kittery, Maine

Probably the perfect little bar, like a small, warm treasure you just want to carry about your day with cupped fingers and show to nobody but your closest friends. With such a timeless, hidden, antiquated feel, you wouldn't be surprised if it's actually always existed, hidden from the world by an ancient cantrip or spell that's only started to be loosened now by the ravages of time, allowing only a few, wary wanderers to unknowingly and luckily stumble upon it. The only thing scarier than the thought of someone discovering it is the opposite, that if no one discovers it at all, it might disappear completely, unknown, which is why, with some hesitation, it's probably worth writing a nice yelp review about it. read more

Absolutely killer cocktails that stack up to the Chicago cocktail scene -- but at really reasonable prices! I had their take on an old fashioned, and was in heaven. Can't wait to stop by again next time I am in the area. Bar tender was super nice and gave us great Portland recommendations too. read more

Best place in Kittery to get cocktails. They also have Anju's pork bun on the menu now so what else could you need?! The bartenders are super fun and creative with drinks if you want to try something new! They let you take you drink to Anju if you are waiting for a table and get called mid cocktail. Make sure to stop here if you are in the area, you'll be glad you did! read more

Perfect, almost impossible to believe this spot exists in Maine it should be in Manhattan. The most knowledgeable bar staff I've come across, friendly and helpful to boot. If you just want a beer or glass of wine that's fine as it's a great comfortable spot but the cocktails are what it's all about here. If your not sure what you want the bartenders will talk with you about what flavors appeal to you and come up with something inventive and probably spectacular. I did not get a chance to try the food items but will be back with that as part of the plan. Wallingford Square is not a large area but this spot is not easy to find, it's actually attached to Anjou and next door to the Black Birch. read more

BEST COCKTAILS I HAVE EVER HAD ANYWHERE BY A SIGNIFICANT MARGIN ( which is saying a lot for someone who travels very often and is always seeking great drinks and food ). It's critical to talk to Misty or Mike about what flavor profile you are interested in so they can help you navigate the menu. All of the drinks are incredible but you could definitely pick something that isn't for you - you will realize it is a very well crafted drink even if it's not for you. Misty and Mike will help you pick one that will astound you. Absolutely worth the price and absolutely worth any wait ( the drinks are complex ). Simply watching them build the drink is fascinating. Quality 10, flavor 10, experience 10, uniqueness 10. Misty and Mike you've changed us. Get ready for cocktails made anywhere else to disappoint you. read more

You know that scene in Star Wars where Luke Skywalker is at the Cantina and is trying to order a drink (before the angry Walrus man patron decides to pick a fight with Luke)? Luke sits down at the bar and actually has to tug on the bartenders shirt to get his attention. OR you know how sometimes a bartender is so rude to your friends that one of your friends walks outside (the walls of that tiny bar you thought you'd try out) in tears? Well I didn't know how it felt to be Luke until last night when we actually had to reach out to the bartender and softly tug his shirt to get his attention (he had passed our table FOUR times each time refusing to make eye contact (when we finally ordered our drinks he forgot one of our orders and had to come back and ask). And yeah- my friend actually left the bar in tears when we first arrived because the bartender forgot he was serving/ caring for humans and not aliens (like at the Cantina who are used to being treated like Walrus man). read more

Cool spot with great cocktails. Both bartenders were completely engaged with one couple who were obviously regulars. Everyone else at the full bar were basically ignored until it came time to pay. Really soured the experience. read more

Best cocktails in the area, hands down. The intimate setting and welcoming/knowledgeable/amazing staff (hi Mike, hi Misty!) make you feel like you are just hanging out in the living room with good friends (well, a little more classy than that, but you know what I mean!). The food is delicious too and affordable, too. My husband and I stop by at least once a week for drinks and dinner. Favorite drinks: The Painkiller, The Nice to Meet You, Yard Gate Punch, East By Gimlet. read more

A recommendation from a fellow bar patron in Portsmouth persuaded me to walk over the bridge one night to check this place out. Not to brag, but as a result of living in NYC for 10 years, along with having a severe weakness for delicious alcoholic beverages (which I swear is not a drinking problem), I have literally been to hundreds of bars and lounges in my life. So I feel I know what I'm talking about when it comes to evaluating drinking establishments. The Wallingford is, and I say this advisedly, THE BEST COCKTAIL BAR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. The drinks are meticulously crafted and absolutely out of this world. The menu is extensive and diverse, and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend in the strongest terms possible. read more

Made a long trip to visit kittery. This place made it special. Huge fan. Great staff cool environment

I like this place and they make great cocktails, but tonight I was really soured the way our group was treated because we had a minor with us. Rather than just explaining that minors are not allowed, we were made to stand for approximately 10 minutes in a very awkward manner while the staff pretended to put away glasses. The staff whispered about each other and kept looking at us which made us feel so awkward. Then, in a very condescending and pretentious way the waitress said children were not allowed. I understand the law and am not complaining about that, it's the rude way this was explained to us. I won't be back anytime soon. There are plenty of other places that make cocktails. read more

My favorite cocktail bar anywhere. I've been chasing down artisanal cocktails all over the U.S., Canada and a bit of Europe for the past 10 years or so and honestly, this little place is my absolute favorite. It is definitely the drinks that I love most here but the small, cozy, down to earth vibe is great, too. It is such a welcoming, quiet spot. The stuff they do with house orgeat blows my mind, and I love it that the bartender took the time to explain to me how they make it, and how I could make it myself at home. Been coming here occasionally for several years now and it never disappoints. For those that might be interested, other bars I love almost as much as this -- Ste. Ellie and Williams & Graham (both in Denver), La Distillerie (in Montreal), and The Gibson (Washington DC). This place is way better than PDT in NYC (though the cookbook is fantastic) or Raines Law Room, and there is just nothing at all in Boston, San Francisco, or London that serves up drinks as enjoyable as these. read more

This place was awesome..... It was later in the evening and we Yelped "bars in Kittery" and found this place. It had 26 out of 26 reviews of all 5-stars.... and now I know why. The bar is super cute and cozy. The three staff members were all very friendly and the mixed drinks were spot-on! The drinks were $10-15 each. The drinks were artfully prepared by the bartenders which made it such a fun experience. read more

This intimate craft cocktail oasis provides a wonderful spot for date night or a night out with friends when you tire of the tourist-filled lobster shacks. My friend introduced us to this new bar while visiting from DC, and the Wallingford vibe would be just as at home in Brooklyn, DC, or San Francisco. Highly recommend. read more
