I don't particularly care for waffles but decided to try one and I am sure it is the best waffle that I have had in a very long time. I am staying in the Romance room; it's very comfortable but small. It does have its own bathroom; not all the rooms have private bathrooms so make sure and ask. The Inn is self checkin and very easy. I love the outside space and sitting on the patio. I would definitely come again.

I had a confirmed reservation and gave the front desk employee my name. She couldn't find the reservation, so she asked whether it might be under a different name. I told her no, and after she and her coworker looked into it, they discovered that my reservation had been given to another guest. The other guest (let's call her Jane Doe) had been checked into the room that was reserved under my name and my credit card. She had provided her own ID and credit card, so I genuinely don't understand how the employees managed to assign her a room using my reservation in the first place. This is more than just a simple check-in mistake. If that guest had damaged the room, incurred charges, or otherwise caused an issue, those charges could potentially have been associated with my reservation and payment information. That's a pretty serious failure in handling a guest's reservation and financial information. The employees realized their mistake and had to call Jane Doe down from her room to the lobby to straighten everything out. Thankfully, she was actually in her room, and thankfully both of us remained calm and understanding about the situation. But here's what really bothered me: not once did either employee apologize to me or to Jane Doe. Not even a simple, "We're so sorry, we made a mistake." Nothing. Mistakes happen. I understand that. But when you make a mistake this significant--giving someone else a room under another guest's reservation and credit card--the bare minimum is to take responsibility, acknowledge the seriousness of the mistake, and apologize. Instead, we were left standing there while they fixed a problem that they had created, with absolutely no apology or acknowledgment. I expected much better from a hotel. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable trusting this hotel with my reservation or payment information again.

Would have given 5 stars, but there is no gym and our room was next to a "staff only" area and the night staff was pretty noisy during our first night. I think that the city probably stocks the pond - it was very cute to see kids successfully fishing before the wedding. Because of the amazingly beautiful weather, we were able to have the actual ceremony outside on the shores of the lake - however, even if it had been rainy it would have been lovely to have the wedding indoors in the delightful space. It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that Aspen Hall was built specifically for weddings. It is a hall that would seat about 150 people fairly comfortably. It has an industrial kitchen and is surrounded on one side by a spacious porch with plenty of tables for sitting, mingling, and hangin'. There was plenty of parking for a smallish wedding but for a larger wedding you might want to consider alternatives. I highly recommend this space to anyone looking for event/wedding space in Bend.

I felt bad for the front desk staff trying to check in a long line of guests because the computer system was very slow and we all waited a long time. I am writing this review on my phone while waiting for my computer to load because the internet keeps going in and out, and when it is working, it is VERY slow. Also, the bathroom area is outdated. My sink is cracked, the toilet seat is peeling, and the shower is dripping all night. The cleaning is suspect, as I found old contacts on the bedside lamp. The furniture choices are uncomfortable: a fuzzy stool for the desk and metal chairs for the table. The desk and fridge are full of snacks and beer for purchase (not my thing but maybe others appreciate?). The outlets by the bed and desk are used up by the lamps. No extra towels in room. I haven't tried the pool area yet.

In the bathroom we got two little bars of soap, a lotion and a conditioner. No shampoo. Wtf? Luckily I hoard hotel shampoos and conditioners, so I already had some. The A/C was the jankiest thing I have ever seen. It looked like they sawed a hole through the wall that wasn't really the right size for it... and it was apparent. It was also SO LOUD. The curtains wouldn't open how I wanted them to open, and I wanted to open the window to get some fresh air but it took both of us to scoot it open it was so stuck.
