I visited this shop early on a Saturday morning. I had gotten a tune-up at a bicycle shop in the Greater Boston area in preparation of cycling Vermont Route 100, and picked up my bike on Friday night (the night before I planned to leave). When I brought it home (and after the shop had closed) I found that my bike's chain was making noise in certain gears. I tinkered around with the derailleur to try to fix the problem, but to no avail. I feared that my Vermont trip would have to be cancelled. I decided to try to find a shop in Brattleboro, my planned starting point, and selected this one because it opened the earliest. I visited there early on Saturday, explained the issue, and immediately was introduced to a mechanic (I asked for his name but have since forgotten it, unfortunately). He kindly and patiently explained what he was doing as he went through his evaluation to diagnose the issue, and invited me to stand alongside him to watch and learn. Within minutes, he deduced that the height of the derailleur was incorrectly adjusted by the previous mechanic, causing the chain to rub in high gear. He made the correct adjustment and it worked perfectly. Amazingly, he didn't even want to charge me more than $10, although I insisted on giving him that and then some for his help (and for basically saving my trip). I love cycling, but I know that visiting bicycle shops can be a frustrating process. Many bicycle mechanics seem to delight in making the customer feel ignorant. Here, the mechanic was not only skilled and instructive, but he was completely without pretension. It is a shame that I live more than two hours away from this shop, or it would be my default for repairs. As it turned out, the mechanic's adjustment on a Saturday morning ended up saving my cycling trip, and the bicycle has functioned perfectly since.

They bought my first board from them in 2001, and have continued to buy anything I can from them because of the customer service and care for their community. Bill and his staff have always been so helpful in guiding me in my purchases to ensure I get the best equipment for my needs. I am working with Bill right now to purchase a new board from them even though I live in Scottsdale, AZ now. He's been great steering me away from companies that aren't producing great stuff anymore, and introducing me to better options that I will enjoy more. First of all I question his business practices, he forces you to buy two sets of steel which should have been my first red flag. He also has a major integrity issue and in my opinion taking advantage of people by forcing them to buy two sets of steel. Jay's communication is terrible and doesn't respond back. I then asked for a refund and he tried lying to me and telling me orders are 2-3 weeks out when I intitally spoke to him. I canceled the order 5 days later and he lied to me trying to tell me that he was expediting my order when I never asked and tried to charge me an 18% restocking fee for nothing. He then said he initiated a refund over $500 on 5/19/2025 and it's 06/12/2025 and I still have not received anything. I then told him to just Zelle me back the money. Jay has an excuse for everything and is not an honorable person in my opinion. I am still without any refund after he assured me it could take up to 14 days. It's well past the 14 days and still no refund. It's one excuse after another from owner Jay for steel he never shipped and I have not received. Avoid doing business with this arrogant owner at all costs. It's nonsense excuse after nonsense excuse. I strongly encourage everyone not to support this small business owner who is not honest and from my experience is a pathological liar.

We spent another 15 minutes in the store looking at boots and wandering around but no one once asked if we needed help finding anything. The three men hadn't moved from their chat session as we left the store. Would never return.

And they'll do all the hockey basics here - sharpen your skates, sell you some tape, fix your equipment, and so on. A 3/8" hollow on my skates and a 2005 Chianti? The perfect combination.
