Great Service, Great Skis I had a great experience with Nordic Skater this winter. I found a too-good-to-be-true deal on a skate ski set from Salomon on their website, then called them to ask abut sizing (just to be sure) and reached Josh on the phone. He confirmed my size would be available, but perhaps not for the ski set I had originally been looking for. His whole demeanor was far from the typical sales talk you get elsewhere, felt much more genuine and not about selling the most expensive equipment possible. I ended up making an appointment and driving up from Boston later in the week, arriving there late in the day. The store had the largest selection of cross country skis I have seen here and turned out to be one of the few places where employees can pronounce the brands they are selling, which instills confidence. Josh put together a ski set for me to meet my budget and added a few additional deals to make it worth the trip while staying open past the official closing time. I ended up buying a Peltonen skate ski set with Rossignol boots and Swix poles and never regretted it. I was looking for an exercise to integrate into my running routine to lower impact on my knees and ankles and heard about roller skiing. As an intermediate user of cross country skis in the winter, the idea of continuing that training into the summer seemed like a good fit but I had little to no knowledge of how to get started. After some online research, it became apparent that Nordic Skater was a leading educational and sales resource, and they sold the V2 line of roller skis, made in the USA. I had several phone calls with Jamie and his staff. They were all knowledgeable and patient with me, with the express focus of first making sure roller skating was a good fit for me and then second letting me rent a set prior to buying to ensure I this is something I would really want integrate into my exercise routine. Nordic Skater is a great local business that sells high end Nordic Skiing and nordic skating gear for athletes of every background. I bought my first pair of classic roller skis from Nordic Skater when I was in high school and trained hard on them for 3 years. During that time I won 2 VT state championship nordic titles and qualified for 2 collegiate NCAA championships. Nordic skater provides the gear needed for a high school, collegiate, or professional level nordic skier racer. They have great service! Jamie Hess is very friendly and knowledgeable, and can help answer any questions you may have about gear for skiing or skating. Also, Nordic Skater has lower prices than almost any retail shop, so that is a huge benefit! I've been roller skiing for over 30 years. I live of all places in St. Louis that hardly gets any snow, forcing me to roller ski 95% of the time. I came across Nordic Skater from an on line search and have purchased V-2's, Skikes' and snow skate skiis. I was impressed with the questions asked prior to the sale in terms of getting the right item that I wanted. In other words their interest in helping narrow down my focus was instrumental in getting the product that I needed. Bottom line is I wanted to purchase a new pair of roller skiis, didn't know what I needed and was led to a pair that fits my workout level, interest, and goals. They have a good return policy too. Our daughter competes in Middle School Nordic skiing and already had roller skis for skate technique, but needed classic roller skis now too. I filled out the online form with her info on Sunday, and did not expect to hear back for a few days as the Nordic Skater is closed Sundays. I received a phone call Sunday afternoon, was offered a great package price and team discount... and we were not pushed to buy more than we really needed. The roller skis shipped Monday, and arrived Tuesday in NH Lakes Region for just a $15 shipping fee. Our daughter used them Wednesday at practice and they're exactly what she needed. I am a complete rookie to roller skiing. I invested may hours online, made some phone calls and ultimately one of the OEMs I contacted recommended Nordic Skater. I made many calls to them, and I feared I would wear them out with questions. They have been fantastic, patience beyond what I would have ever imagined. They were kind enough to look at photos, explain and recommend the best equipment for my needs and location (central Indiana). Rent can go towards the purchase. Even though I live down in southern New Hampshire, I always go to Nordic Skater for my rollerski needs. They have been consistently helpful and friendly in their services! I most recently bought new wheels and road ferrules from them. They helped me figure out what exactly I was looking for, changed out my old wheels for me in-house, and instead of having me come back to the store to pick up my skis, they even shipped everything to me in a very timely way! I needed a pair of skate skis and was having a hard time finding what I wanted in my size and not getting much help from some of the places I tried. I called Nordic Skater, and they asked me to send a photo of my boots. They got back to me right away and gave me advice about which skis to buy, which were actually less money than the ones I was considering. They know a lot about nordic skis. Gave them a call and explained the situation, that I needed a new pole and had a race the next weekend, and they shipped me a new pole completely FREE of charge. It arrived two days after I called. I purchased a pair of Rossignol skate ski boots online, but they ended up not having my size by the time they tried to ship my order. They called me to follow up on the order and found a boot and size in another model that worked perfectly. They were very helpful, offered an excellent price, and I got the boots in two days.
