Reece immediately makes you comfortable, regardless of your skill level or musical style. She also works WITH you on your goals and how you'd like to improve, instead of shoehorning you into a structured teaching plan that might not get you where you want to be. Zero judgment here. Want to work on your technical chops? Cool! Don't care too much and just want to get on the kit and jam? Awesome! Like, not all of us are going to be studio drummers and THAT'S FINE. Too many other teachers approach the instrument like there's only one right way to play, and Reece is the complete opposite. Oh, and: she also teaches band classes for Girl Guitar, which means you can start playing with people almost immediately and level up way faster than you could just practicing on your own. Tl;dr: learn drums. Learn them from Reece. Be badass. Be happy.

Wow. What can I say? Reece is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had…read more I've been taking band lessons from her since April of last year. She is incredible. I started playing guitar about a year and a half ago and needed to start playing with other musicians to get better. I found Reece at Girl Guitar. I was so nervous to play with others, fearful I'd be judged and wouldnt be at the same level as others. But I walked into Reece's class, and man talk about encouragement. I felt comfortable and able to grow. She worked with me individually and worked at my speed. I can unequivocally say I've grown as a musician since taking classes with her. In fact, I've felt comfortable enough to join other bands outside Girl Guitar because Reece not only helped me grow, but made me feel confident I could do so. She is a great teacher. I really cant say enough good things about her! Also, I have to mention she is an incredible musician! She plays rhythm guitar and is an incredible drummer. So many times I struggled on rhythm, and she worked with me to feel the music, and (as she tell me) GET OUT OF MY HEAD. This is something I've always struggled with and she helped me correct it. If you're looking for a drummer go to her. She's great!

This is a place that takes music instruction seriously -- in addition to the lessons there is a weekly music theory lesson and a regular schedule of recitals and musicianship tests. Not being a music person myself, I was a bit concerned at the outset that this might be overkill, but in reality it has served our kiddo quite well and the progress both in his playing and his theoretical understanding is apparent and exciting to watch. I've also used them beginner adult lessons myself (now that I have a piano, why not?). On that side of things they have proven both helpful and highly flexible with respect to the fact that my availability for practice is not what I wish it could be. I've recommended CW to a number of fellow parents looking for lessons and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

Looking for a piano school for your kid? Now that you are grown up - decided to take up piano?…read more This is a great place. Full disclosure - Both my daughters took piano here. It is a fairly large studio - I just looked it up and they now have about a dozen piano teachers - plus some guitar and a cello teacher. There are maybe 10 or so rooms and when there are several lessons going on - it is great to sit in the lobby and listen to all the beautiful music wafting out. Chances to perform at recitals and competitions are available. They also have master classes with really great pianists - from universities and these are for dedicated students at all levels. A great school. There are enough teachers that you will certainly find one to suit you. They have a theory lab for beginner students. The large parking lot makes for easy parking.

The fact is we were contacted directly by the coach to set up a first lesson and had no further contact with your administration about scheduling the follow-up. We sent emails asking that we only be charged for the lesson attended, and as yet they are unanswered.

I started with a few intensive…read morelessons at her house in Wimberly, TX, and now I practice with her for 3 thirty minute visits on Skype weekly - in the comfort of my home. I also attended a weekend guitar retreat she hosted in Spring 2016 at her house. There are no words to express how blessed I am to learn the guitar from her. I find Charlotte to be a "one stop source" for music. She teaches everything from theory to reading notes, getting the right rhythm, techniques, learning songs, scales, voice, piano, etc. While she helps me build a solid music foundation, she also advises me on my posture, my breathing, my practice sessions, and my life habits to be a better guitar player. There are so many teachers out there, but from my experience it is hard to find one that continuously challenges you and keeps you inspired and motivated. What works best for me is to see her on a regular basis instead of once a week (thank you Skype!) We became a team and our lessons are much more like assisted practice time. Each lesson is unique and her method is flexible yet complete and thorough. Contrary to what most people believe, Skype lessons are pretty much similar to in-person lessons. Charlotte can really hear and see everything. I don't feel like it depreciates the lessons. Anyhow, I don't think all teachers can be great teachers on Skype like she is. One can tell that she has experience in that matter with many students living all around the country. I highly recommend Charlotte whether you are a first time player, a seasoned artist, an inspiring musician, or even a music instructor. She has something to offer everyone!

Our daughter played piano her first semester, which ended with a live performance of three songs at the Saxon Pub, presenting to over 100. The next semester she switched to vocals, with a live performance at the Far Out Lounge with her super fun band buddies. The students and teachers take the lessons very seriously but also have a lot of fun. There is one on one instruction blended with small-group instruction. I would say that the instructions provided for instruments (guitar, bass, drums, piano) are a little stronger than the instructions provided for vocals. But no private/one-on-one instructor can provide the super fun, motivating experience of playing in front of a large audience in an iconic Austin venue. That's what makes School of Rock so special for its students.
