The young gentleman working at the counter needs some humility and some life experience. Hopefully today he learned that when you go out of your way to mischaracterize what another person says, there are consequences, especially when laced with unearned self-righteous indignation and coupled with a refusal to serve the customer. The interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. Businesses thrive or fail because of their people. Judging from many of the other reviews here, I am by no means alone in experiencing very poor customer service. I reached out to the owner with my concerns using the name and number provided to me at the store but I never heard back from that person. The person in charge of the company's yelp did reply to me below which I appreciate but there's no reason for further communication, better to lay this to rest. Especially when there are enough options in southern Maine to go elsewhere. Try GREEN TRUCK in Kittery, INDICO or MARCS ORGANIX also in Kittery. Other spots too - up in Ogunquit or down in Eliott. I know for a fact there ARE indeed several nice folks who work at theory wellness- but for me, there's enough other options so I don't have to take the chance. I'd rather go someplace where I feel more comfortable because the staff are more welcoming. At theory, I felt like I walked into someone's bad day and they just happened to be a bud tender. No thanks.

The chances of you getting a cart that clogs and getting a mouthful of stuff is great and frankly disappointing considering all the other options on the same road. i've asked them about this and the overall response is user error... if you mainly use carts like me spend a few extra more for a longer lasting one

I am a pro member and spend ALOT of money with gnc. Every store i have been to I've either had minimal help from staff, been lied to, or been treated terribly. As GM of multiple small retail locations. I would not enployee half of the people I have encountered at other locations, or with customer service at the 800 number. But then i met April yesterday. She spent over an hour with me helping me, informing me, and educating me. All while making me feel like she cares. To corporate: April just saved, and retained a customer. I will now be driving 30 minutes out of my way everytime i need something simply because of the passion she has. You folks need more April's. Don't lose her. She is the best thing your brand has to offer.

If you know what you are looking for though, the employees all seem to know the layout of the store pretty well. Product is grouped (more or less) by brand and not by type of product. Make sure you're aware of that when looking for a specific supplement. Prices, especially with the yearly membership are rather competitive with online shops. I was rather shocked. Granted, I had to drop $15 on the membership, but I saved almost that much with an order of glutamine and creatine. Not bad! Whey is one item I don't buy here because the price isn't very competitive at all. Not sure why, but I can get it cheaper almost anywhere else (small tangent: not all protein is made the same, look up nitrogen spiking. You'll be glad you did). I pop on here often since I live in MA and all supplements are taxed. Between that and card savings I save quite a chunk of change every visit.

The variety of products was more than I've seen elsewhere. Michael Parolisi, the District Manager, was very welcoming and attentive the minute we walked through the door. He was extremely knowledgeable about ALL of the products and made recommendations based on his own personal experiences, popularity of products sold, most appropriate uses, concentrations, etc. While we were looking around, he stepped away to help another customer who walked in and gave a specific complaint for which she wanted product. He was able to immediately give a great recommendation and make her visit as efficient as possible. At one point he even offered to run a product batch through their system based on lot # to give me even more information about ingredient content. Wish this store was closer for us because we would absolutely shop here again.

They prepare sushi and other Asian delights on site, and have a large selection of wines and beers. Hampton Natural Foods is a lot like Trader Joe's, but a little bit more higher end, and pricier. The wine section is very impressive, as is the cheese section. The place is always packed when I go there, so the lines can be a bit daunting. You can find a lot of unique brands that you won't see elsewhere, but be prepared to pay premium for them. Staff is friendly, and always ready to answer questions. I think the check-out people know that their lines tend to go slowly, and they're always gracious about thanking customers for coming (even if they have a small purchase). I've had no complaints about Hampton Natural Foods. Then again, I visit every few months. I think if this were my main place to shop and get all of my essentials that I'd be broke in no time.
