Horrible..had to go to them for a few years..the recent 'expert' there accused me of 'lying' about having had refractive eye surgery 13 yrs ago and other such things. Outrageous. When it came to picking out glasses, straightforward pricing and no upselling, unlike other places. I highly recommend Dr. Nelson and have scheduled the rest of my family to see him. Two stars so it gets seen and not written off. I had a terrible experience at this vision center. During the visit, they were barely communicative with me, the Dr did not listen to anything I said, the front desk staff was too busy on their computers to pay attention to me, assist me with insurance and paperwork, or even answer my questions. Since then, I started experiencing a major increase in eye strain, migraines, light sensitivity, and fatigue in my eyes. I finally was able to afford to pay out of pocket at another vision center (since I wasted my one in two years eye exam coverage at Visual Connection) and I did not tell them anything other than my current symptoms. They recommended a certain adjustment to my lenses (a prism) based on the exam results WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT VISUAL CONNECTION REMOVED from my glasses and argued with me I did not need despite the 4 years I had already gone with a prism that helped. The doctor refused to even consider a prism in my glasses and insisted it was unnecessary and because of that I have been suffering for a year and causing who knows how much additional strain on my eyes and nerves because the doctor thought he was smarter therefore why should he listen to me? I do NOT at all recommend this place. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, they don't pay attention to you, they don't listen or hear your concerns, and they are not personable. And save yourself the literal hundreds of dollars of having to buy a whole new set of f**** lenses simply because they refused to listen or pay attention. read more

So far, my wife and I had back to back appointments. When we got our prescriptions, they had confused our information. Wife went back to get it straight and she was put off. They said the doctor was busy and would call when he wasn't. Didn't take her name or number and dismissed her basically. Folks, you only get one chance to make a first impression and this one missed the mark. read more

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. There are alternative options rather than go to a place that target elderly and handicapped.

I ordered glasses for my son who was 2 years old and has a tracheostomy. He spent his first 15 months of his life in the hospital. We had his eye prescription done at Seattle children hospital. In January we ordered his glasses and 2 months later we received them. They checked his prescription before they fitted him and then went home. My son cannot speak due to the trach and development was delayed due to the fact he spent the first 8 months in the ICU. In June we went back to get a second pair. About 6 weeks later we got a call and I went to pick them up. Upon receiving I immediately took them home and returned them back with the hour with his first pair. We noticed that the new glasses the lenses were 3 times the size of the first pair. They scanned both pairs in their machine and then took them to the back office were I waited about 30 minutes. They came to the conclusion that the lab made a mistake and sent them back to be corrected. Another 6 weeks later we got a call saying they were ready. When I picked them up I checked them immediately and noticed that they came back exactly as the last time I didn't bring the first pair. They asked me did my son say he have problems seeing? I told them that he can't speak due to his trach. The employee behind the desk said that she remembered me from the last time, and will send it back to the lab saying they've been having issues with the lab. Another month or so later they called and said his glasses were ready. I brought my son's first pair with me and when I received the glasses there were exactly the same. I asked them why are they so different from the first one? They took both pairs of glasses ran them through the machine and took them to the manager again. About 45 minutes later they came back with the conclusion that it was because the first pair had polycarbonate lenses. My response was how come they added it to one and not the other? They didn't have a answer. I was then told I needed to pay more for the lenses for them to be the same. I paid and waited another month. Now it's near the end of October, I received another call they my son glasses were ready. I went to pick them up and to my surprise they were the same size as the last 3 times. Now I'm upset, I told them nothing had changed I grabbed my son's first pair from the car and handed them to the front desk employee. They take them to the back and 45 minutes later, they came out and asked me to have a seat where they seat customer's for fitting. I was told that the issue was that the first pair was made wrong by the lab. The employee telling me this information was the same one I dealt with the first pair. I asked how come it took 4 different times it took it before someone caught the mistake ? The employee couldn't respond to my question, instead I was asked if my son said if they were bothering him. I once again took her that my son cannot speak due to his trach and I am his only voice. I then said you all are supposed to be medical professionals are y'all that incompetent that y'all can't fill a lense prescription thank God I didn't get his exam there. The employee sitting in front of me started crying and an employee who was wearing a mask yelled that I needed to shut my mouth. I proceeded to get louder and yelled through the store. The employee with the mask then said she will call the police. I told them I didn't give two damns if they called the police, WTH are they going to do. The employee began verbally attacking me telling me that I'm out of line and their not going to tolerate my attitude. I told them I shouldn't have to tolerate their incompetence as a paying customer. Trying to not deal with the employee with the mask I asked why was she talking to me because at no point since I was there did I say anything to her. One on the doctor's came out the back and told me that he would help me in his office. The employee At the same time the employee is continuing attacking me verbally as I'm walking to the back. So I verbally attacked her back, no one at any time tried to remove this employee from the situation to deescalate me or her. Even with her boss right there did he address the verbal attacks towards me not the cursing. But when I started cursing I got kicked out. I was told I can't talk to their employees in that manner, but it was perfectly fine for their employee to verbally attack and curse at me. None of this should've happened the correct lenses were too thick for the first set of frames. They take no accountability for their actions and don't like to hear of the business failures as a whole. I kept wondering why they didn't change labs if they're constantly making mistakes. The mistake was solely on the business and their unqualified employees. The manager called me 5 days later and asked me my side of the story. I said don't you have cameras? He said yes but it doesn't have audio. I began telling him then was interrupted and he then input whatever the employees told him. read more

David Whitemarsh is one of the rudest people I have had the misfortune to deal with in recent years! I was happy to find an optometrist near my home that honors my vision insurance. I simply needed a check-up on my eyes. The front desk staff was nice yet Dr. Whitemarsh was a nightmare! He was excessively curt and rude, he made me feel as if I had ruined his day just by being in his presence. When I asked questions about my eyes during the exam he acted as if answering me was more than he could stand and with little to no feedback. He rushed through my exam and I felt like he could not get me out of his office fast enough, then he barked orders at the front desk staff and stormed off to the back of the building. I have never felt so dismissed and belittled at a Dr.s appointment. I work with the public and will not have any qualms with letting people know their money would be better placed elsewhere in the community. I will definitely not be returning and will find an optometrist that is respectful to their clients. read more

I have made a couple of appointments and then needed to cancel and reschedule due to illness, changing vision insurance and my reschedule for tomorrow was due to my supervisor needing me to stay later than expected. When I called I was advised I would no longer be allowed to schedule a new appointment as I had rescheduled too many times. I was very distraught as I was looking forward to visiting this clinic and perhaps getting multi-level contacts. It was humiliating to be told I would need to call in daily to see if there were a cancelation. Bye Bye.....I have excellent vison coverage and you lost my business which is probably a good thing because your services now appear to be charlatan and I would have spent my hard earned money and my vision benefits on an unworthy product. I was a new patient and asked about the contact exam portion, in addition to the eye exam. I was informed it would be $49 @ the time of the exam plus an additional 45-50 @ follow up. This seemed high to me, since my insurance was going to be paying for the eye glass exam, so I looked up old reviews and called around. I found $100-120 was the price, in total. I was looking for clarification and understanding, I was met with condescending remarks and a defensive attitude. I was told, it's a convenience, that they take peoples insurance & essentially, it is what it is. $180 compared to $100-120 ‍ read more

They cancelled an appointment at the front desk 5 minutes into arriving because they were inept at accessing my insurance info and rushed me out the door rescheduling more than a month out. If people had any "choice" when utilizing their providers, this dumpster fire of a so called business would be out of one. read more

The staff is not very knowledgeable. Scheduled me an additional exam to check for glaucoma. When I showed, they would not see me since I did not have a referral. (They never submitted a referral to my insurance company. I scheduled an appointment for my spouse. They later called and said he could only be seen every other year. I commented that he was covered every year, which they denied. I looked up my benefits and sure enough, he is covered every year. Needless to say, I've found a new place. read more

Called them today, had an eye issue, the not so please lady that answered the phone after I told her what was going on, said oh sorry we are not open, so you need to go to urgent care. Very glad I didn't take her advice and found a new eye doctor. I had an ulcer in my eye, and was told going to the emergency would of solved nothing. Way to go! I don't know why I use my insurance nor waste my time with them. You would think they would have a doctor on call. All they worry about is there over priced inventory. I am not a happy customer! This health care office refuses to state to patients that all employees are either fully vaccinated against C19 or are providing weekly negative tests in lieu of vaccination. They claim "Can't do that because it violates privacy." They must think patients are stupid. IT'S OUR STATE LAW THAT ALL HEALTH CARE WORKERS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED OR PROVIDE WEEKLY NEGATIVE TESTS. Thus, this really tells patient that this office is in violation and this place is dangerous to patients. I tried and tried to get them to connect to me by using FB Messenger, which up until a few days ago THEY ADVERTISED ON THEIR HOME PAGE, and no one ever answered. (I have hearing problems.) I had sent five messages via FB Messenger. I truly believe they removed the "Connect Now with FB Messenger" off their home page because I was trying and trying to get help. I finally had to stop there in person. The two women at the front were RUDE and acted like it was some kind of sin for me to want to know if their office was compliant with our state law and with keeping me safe. [After all, eye care is all about others being "in your face." Why would I NOT be concerned about their practices???] Notice the many other VERY POOR reviews about employee attitude. read more

Staff here is very friendly and willing to work to ensure that you pay as little as possible out of pocket. They are also very understanding if your children come to a visit with you. Great doctors who take the time to make sure you are satisfied with the product you buy. I absolutely loved the staff and everyone was very helpful. But when I went back to see the eye doctor I was told I needed to loose weight and thought that was the most disrespectful thing an EYE doctor could say to someone. You aren't my primary care doctor who specializes in health. Also you don't know me! I had a daughter two years ago, went through post partum depression and have been recently working really hard at exercising every day and trying to eat healthy! He had no place saying that to me and I left there astonished and almost in tears! Don't know if I will be returning after that experience!! read more

The worst experience that I ever had. The VA assigned me to Visual Connection because staff was short at the VA. I got the referral from the VA and called these people to set up an appointment. The person on the phone set me up with an appointment, and mailed me paperwork to fill out. A week before my appointment, I asked to see if  I could swing by to find the location and turn in the paperwork. I was told that was ok. The office was closed between 1200-1330. There were blanks because I did not understand the questions. I get there at 1330, and the door was locked.  I wore a mask and followed social distancing protocols. Also, there was a black sheet covering the door from the inside. At 1335, the door was still locked and I called.  They keep the door locked during business hours. You get let in, but the door is locked after entry. The person who opened the door was a heavy set blonde woman with lots of tattoos. I told her who I was that I needed help filling in the missing blanks. She said that I don't have an appointment. I told here I know, mine is the following week. I need help filling in the questions that I don't understand. She tells me that I have to fill these out outside. I tell her that I don't have a support to write this and I still need help to answer these questions. She shoves a clip board in my face and was getting ready to slam the door at me.. Just before, I go in and go straight to the counter.  I again ask that I need help to fill out these questions. She banters back and forth about the appointment. She tells me how rude I was, and I told her that she was rude by shoving a clip board in my face.  By this time I needed to use the rest room because of a medical condition. She said no, but another lady told me where it was. When I was done, I saw a man standing and thanked him,  for the use of the rest room.  I asked for help filling out the form. He was saying that I don't have an appointment, and I told him the same thing. He tells me to leave, and I told him that I am getting this ready for my appointment. He told me tht there will be no appointment  that I will not be seen here or ever. He asked for my name . I said what I had to say and left. I contacted the VA and they set me up with another provider. I also gave a full account of what happened. I stressed that the way they treated me, I don't want to see that happen to another Veteran. read more

Even though the office was hectic, the receptionists maintained a cheerful attitude and worked efficiently. Dr. Whitemarsh is very pleasant and indefatigable. Despite one optometrist out sick and the ongoing construction, he breezed from room to room, never seemed rushed, and provided thorough exams on my husband and myself. After waiting the 20 minutes for the eyedrops to become effective, he examined us and took pictures. I have never seen results presented like that, nor has an optometrist ever explained his findings as thoroughly as Dr. Whitemarsh did. In addition, besides the prescriptions given to us, the results of the entire visit were mailed to us. I have great confidence in Dr. Whitemarsh and will return. read more

I have always gotten in fast and never had to wait in the waiting room long. The doctors have always been pleasant, thorough, and professional. The problem, however, is the receptionist staff. Each time I call they are snippy, and so eager to get off the phone with you they practically hang up on you. My last appointment they spoke ill of customers as I sat in the waiting room. A woman called to make an appointment block for her family of 5- they joked snidely that she "better show up" to each other, in clear ear shot of me. A man came in and asked to use their phone because his car was having issues, his cell phone had died. After he left they made fun of his tattoos and haircut, again with me sitting right there waiting. After I got my prescription done a woman walked me over to choose from the free frames they have available. After looking for a while I really didn't find find anything to my taste. I walked up to the desk and let her know I wasn't seeing anything and would like to take my prescription and look around town for frames. She without a word wrote down a prescription slip for me and I kid you not, tossed it on the counter and said "have a nice day", turned around and ignored me. I misplaced my prescription slip and called in a few minutes ago to see about coming in to have a new one written for me.. The woman said "Okay is that all?" "Yep, that's it." I said. "Okay bye." *Click*.. She hung up on me in the rudest manner I've ever had from a "professional" business. I recommend Walmart. They are the most polite and caring people to possibly get serviced by. read more

I had no problem with the exam itself but everything else was not ideal. When I called to schedule an exam during Covid precautions and kind of got laughed at for asking questions - it was in the background and not to my face but still not appreciated. Then during my appointment I had scheduled for contacts and glasses they didn't do a contact exam even when I asked specifically about it and was told my appointment would continue after I was dialated. I had to run for another work appointment and never got my contact exam. Then when I called to see about a contacts exam they said it's be $60 out of pocket even though they are a preferred provider and insurance said I still had my full benefits for the contact exam. I called the visual connection and was told if I want contacts regardless of my insurance coverage, I had to pay out of pocket. Mmmmmk no thanks. I have chronic migraines from a head injury so me and whatever optometrist I chose for future care will be close and well paid. I'm about to order 4 pairs of glasses with different specific tints per my neurologist recommends to try and another years worth of contacts. The front staff needs a bit of an attitude adjustment though. read more

Super efficient! Super friendly! They took me in 5 minutes early and testing was fast and thorough. You don't have to take a lot of time having exams with competent and efficient staff. I totally agree with Ashley! Their office personnel is super unfriendly and very incompetent. TRIPLE CHECK YOUR BILL!!! Will never go back there again! I had my annual exam but they couldn't do a couple of tests which are fully covered by my vision plan. So they re-scheduled me for an appointment 4 weeks later. I went back, they did all the tests, and the receptionist said I was all good to go. Left the office and 3 minutes later I receive a call from the lady that ran my tests letting me know, that I was supposed to pay for the visit. I got suspicious and told them to send me the bill. The bill came in and I almost had a heart-attack: $300 is what they wanted for my annual exam which is fully covered by my vision plan after I make a $20 co-payment. I called them and told them that my insurance covers all the cost after I make my co-payment, they said the person working on my case was not in and that she would give me a call back the next day. I called my insurance after that conversation told them the whole story, to which they were really surprised because the second visit was not showing in their system at all. She also told me that they cover the whole exam including all the tests, and I should only pay $20 for my co-payment. Well the next day I didn't receive a call back from Visual Connections, so I called back myself. Finally got a hold of the lady handling my case, explained her the whole thing and she said that my insurance doesn't cover those kind of tests ... I told her to send me an itemized bill to list all the costs, because on the bill you couldn't even see what they charged me for. She sent me an itemized bill right away on which I saw, that they charged me close to $100 for the 2nd visit, that they themselves had scheduled because they couldn't run the tests the first time in. She said that she would take that amount off. I told her again that my insurance would cover the rest, and she again said that my insurance doesn't cover those tests. Right after that call I got on the phone with the insurance company, and she called Visual Connections to let them personally know that they cover all costs. Long story short in the end I only had to pay my co-pay, but would I have not pushed back I would have paid them an extra $260!!! Now that is not small change ... As Ashley said before the doctors are great, BUT the office personnel is HORRIBLE!!!! read more
