I've been here twice, the first time was just to get a bottle of gin which was pleasant but unremarkable. The second time I went here was for one of their "grand tasting" events which was terrible. I went with several friends all in our mid 20's. I'm not sure if we were pegged from the beginning as "cheap college kids" or something but the treatment received was astonishing. Granted this is only my second wine tasting event ever and this is only an isolated experience so I'm giving them two stars assuming future experiences might go better and because as a store, they seem acceptable. Now, back to the tasting. My 3 friends and I had always talked about wanting to go to one of these tastings at the vineyard that we see every time we drive by. When we heard about the next tasting we decided try it out and stock up on our favorites. We headed out later that night, walked up, showed our id's, signed in, giving them our address and email, and in return we received some small sample glasses. We have all been getting non-stop emails ever since (sometimes 2 or 3 a day!) which we can't seem to unsubscribe from, but thats another matter entirely. Upon entering we realized this was a rather well attended event and most of the other people present were clearly experienced wine tasters, they appeared to have all brought their own glasses and were all good friends with the people serving wine. We assumed these people would be just as friendly with us. At the first tasting table there were 3 whites and 3 reds to pick from and no one else in line so we walked up, requested the wines were were interested in, tasted them and wrote down our thoughts, no problem. The person serving the wine did not offer us any comments on the wine such as its history or the flavors that we should expect and was otherwise not very talkative, assuming this was an isolated experience and that we would learn more at the next table, we moved on, at least we tried to move on. Thats when we looked at the next table to realize that the server was still talking to the same group of people that he had been talking to for 20+ minutes now and they had long since finished tasting wines. We moved over there and tried to politely interrupt so that we could also sample some of his wines. The people were very rude, refused to make room for us at the table and did not acknowledge our presence. One of the less patient people in our group ended up just breaking into the existing conversation after standing there for 5 minutes and requested to try a specific wine, the server poured him a taste and then went right back into his conversation, ignoring the other 3 of us that were also standing there waiting for service. Another one of us interrupted and asked for a pour, was served and then again he went right back into conversation. After the two more abrupt members of our group tried a wine or two at that table, the rest of us decided to move on to the next one. At the third table we saw a familiar scene, a server deep in conversation with a group of people that appeared to be talking to him for some time, again we tried to break in to try some of the wines but this time we were told to come back later. We complied and moved onto the next table with the identical situation, in fact there was only one other table not in conversation and as we approached it, the server placed his wine under the table and walked away to go attend to something else. At this point we getting the distinct feeling that we were outsiders in a very exclusive club, we didn't have the right wine glasses and we didn't know the right people. I'm not sure what we were doing wrong but we ended up leaving after only tasting about 3 wines each and just made our own wine tasting back at home. My hope is that vineyard reads this and realizes how difficult it can be for some people to enter an exclusive scene and tries to make their wine tastings a bit more "newbie friendly" - maybe put a "wine tasting for dummies pamphlet" out on the table so we know when its appropriate to interrupt and when its not? I hope when we get the confidence to go back to the vineyard for another tasting we will feel a bit more comfortable and hopefully have the opportunity to actually buy something. read more

This is a great place for wine. They have every kind of wine under the sun and offer a program where they will buy your used wine bottles back and give you a dollar credit towards the purchase of a new bottle. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The store is small but set up very nicely. We buy a lot of our wine here. They also have fresh cheese and other tasty treats to compliment any pallet! read more

My go-to wine shop, and its location inside the Stop n Shop on 114 is just an added bonus. I'm there at least once every 2 weeks. Three tremendous upsides: (1) the selection is better than any shop its size, including an excellent selection of good but not hugely expensive ($30-$80), (2) the service is usually excellent -- Bill, his daughter, and some other staff are very knowledgeable and ready to give recommendations, and (3) 20% off any mixed case, which is the best discount around. read more

All the other reviews here focus on the wine/beer side of things. I don't drink much, but I am told they have a good selection, including some decent craft beers, by my more knowledgeable co-workers. What I am here to talk about is the food... specifically sandwiches. I work two buildings down and have eaten sandwiches from them for years now. Did you know they make sandwiches? Surprise! A hidden sandwich shop! We needed one and they delivered. They've had their up and downs with the deli, but things seem to be in high gear now. They have a big menu, and they're happy to customize any piece of your order. The guys I see regularly behind the counter are friendly, helpful and make a quality sandwich. So you should go, and support the sandwich shop! Keep them growing! They've started to make hot sandwiches (and some non-sandwich things, too). I've only had cold so far. I typically eat veg for lunch, so I've had their hummus wrap many, many times. It's simple and good. They've added a couple more veg-friendly sandwiches that I look forward to trying (and my veg-only coworker is thankful for). I've also had their "Rare Roast Beef" wrap, which I don't think is on the menu any longer (or has a new name?) and the sandwich version of what now a wrap: the Thanksgiving burrito. (I think I mangled that name) Both excellent. They use excellent cold cuts and cheeses, I think mostly Boar's Head? Anyhow, go and be surprised. Sandwiches! I have gone to this store twice. I was looking to buy an $85.00 bottle of wine. Each time that I went I was treated horribly by the counter persons. The first time I went, the woman gave me a bottle took my credit card and said"oh sorry that bottle is part of a case." Then she took it back? The second time ( yesterday) I was still looking for the same wine, the woman at the counter was the rudest person I've ever met. I tried to explain what I needed she said" what's your point?" I said it was an $85.00 bottle of wine and asked if she could direct me... Nope she ignored me and hot herself a cup of coffee. Then she too pointed to s case of the Caymac and said there's two cases right there but I don't know if I can sell you one? They really need to realize that customer service is part of customers returning to their store. I will never go there again read more

This is the perfect place to swing by on your way home or on your way to a dinner party. They are always ready to help you and really take the time to assist you in pairing the perfect wine to your event or meal. And these guys have never steered me wrong on a single recommendation. It's also quite convenient to have The Meat House sharing the same space. There are plenty of nights when I've run in there in a panic for a good bottle of wine or a few marinated ribeyes when we have unexpected company! read more

So I was on the hunt for Sweet Carolina Sweet Tea Vodka and I ran into a man doing the liquor inventory at The Vinyard. He said he'd never heard of the vodka, but would be happy to look into it and give me a call if he found it. Two days later I got a call saying he received the vodka and it was sitting on the shelf waiting for me! The Meat House also just opened, so now I don't have to drive my lazy butt all the way across town for marinated meat :). Big fan! read more

Decent selection of beer but prices are constantly $2-$3 more than any other place around. The wine selection is mediocre and again, more expensive than other places around. The Meat House is here, which is convenient but I would never go there for regular shopping. The store advertises "Giant Wine Sale" all the time but there is no such thing there. Prices are way too high. Also the $1 for wine bottles is a scam. You only get $1 per bottle for future purchases and can only use $1 at a time. read more

Nice liquor store, good selection, clean, high class , the deli is gone now & its a meat market. I haven't tried that yet. Parking can be tough. Very expensive though. The Captain Morgan I buy for 1/3 less is Plaistow taste the same. They would get one more star if not for the high prices. read more

The staff is also friendly and knowledgeable about their product and are also helpful with recommendations. But the best thing about The Vineyard is their Grand Wine Tastings!! Where else can I get a complete case of delicious wine for under $100 and have already tasted it all so i know what I am getting, plus I got to pick and choose what I wanted? This place was unbelievably rude. I went in with two friends (all in our mid 20's) to buy a bottle of vodka for a holiday party. The two ladies at the front refused to sell me the alcohol because I was from out of state nor would they allow my two friends who held Massachusetts IDs. Absolutely amazing beer selection. My friend and I were blown away by the unique and obscure brands they had! We ended up picking some up from Hawaii and we'd never seen the brand before. The rest of the store is nice. You can buy an assortment of meats and cheeses. The woman behind the register greeted us as we came in and the man behind the deli wanted to help us right away. I know they sometimes have a good assortment of prepared foods (or did- I haven't been in a few years) but it was early and we didn't see anything aside from dips, spreads, and cheeses on display. this is a pretty decent place. really close to my house, and they give you $1.00 for every empty bottle of wine you return, toward the purchase of more alcohol. they have a nice selection of wine, beer, and hard alcohol. they also have cheese, crackers, chocolate, meat, desserts, snacks, and appetizers if you wanted to throw a party and have some food out to go with your drinks. good customer service as well. it is a little bit more pricy than kappys, but it's worth the convenience to come here. if you get added to their email list they send you emails about their events they have which are fun. read more

Ok -- Backyard wedding for 230 people with fantastic wines? Oh yeah, Bill, Kerry and The Vineyard team outdid themselves again with a selection that made even the snobbiest of guests come back for seconds and thirds. Let's stop at that. As Mother of the Bride with an event background, I wanted to make sure our wines were top notch without breaking the bank. Bill took the caterers menu (from Kate's Table) and matched it with whites, reds and roses that were delicious. I've known Bill for over 10 years and he's always provided excellent service, customized selections and puts together terrific gifts for fussy friends and clients. Overall, a great shop!! The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a very nice selection of spirits. If you aren't sure what you want, Bill - the owner, is very knowledgeable and can help you figure it out. My fiance & I always look forward to the tastings offered there, especially the grand tastings. We learn something new every time and sometimes find wine from grapes we never heard of before. It's fun to learn about different wines from the sommeliers and discuss them with other tasters. In addition to the spirits, the shop also carries fresh meats. After living in Andover 16 yrs I have spent a fair amount of time shopping for wine, beer and spirits. I thought NH liquor store was worth the trip for their prices and the in-town shops for wine tastings and service. I have been surprised to find that The Vineyards in North Andover offers superior pricing and tastings and customer service. It's an added bonus to purchase their high-quality butcher and deli meats at great value. I am grateful that the owner, Bill Dwyer, has great taste and a strong desire to please. OK so living in North Andover we try to frequent local merchants! We send our 22 year old son to the Vineyard to buy beer. After the way he was treated and the way the saleswoman spoke to me on the phone we will NEVER FREQUENT THE VINEYARD NORTH ANDOVER AGAIN.. 1st - our son is 22 years old and he wasn't carded ( thought the law was if you don't look 40, you're carded), 2nd - as he is walking to the car, not even off the sidewalk yet, the case starts to leak and he tries to juggle the case so it doesn't drip on him, the handle breaks and he drops the box. He returns to the store and explains how the box was leaking and asked for a replacement . The woman tells him "it didn't leak on the counter so sorry" ..., 3rd - he asks for a bag to clean up the glass and she hands him a plastic bag ( don't know about you guys but I learned never to clean up broken glass with a plastic bag, that is how people get cut., 4th - he comes home tells me the story and I call to complain, asking to speak to an owner or manager. I was told none were there so I explained the story to a nice polite gentleman. He passes the phone to a woman who has an attitude from the very beginning. I explain how upset I am and that I am a frequent customer and try to frequent our local merchants. She says "what did you want me to do, it wasn't leaking when he left the store". I explained how he found her to be rude to him and she says "I wasn't rude". So I then say "so you are accusing my son of lying about the box leaking and that he dropped it .That he came back in, lied and was looking for a replacement with a lie. "She said "Yes, I am saying he lied". Well .... I can say that my husband and I WILL NEVER FREQUENT THE VINEYARD NORTH ANDOVER AGAIN!!!! read more
