Traveling to Grand Rapids, we stopped along the way for lunch at Tabor Hill Winery. We haven't been…read morethere in years. I forgot how good their restaurant is. We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

As a location to stop and sample some wine, five stars. As a location to have your wedding, one…read morestar. Beautiful location, terrible business to work with. They fail to mention that you're required to spend a 20k minimum on your day, you can only work with the caterer that they choose (which I would give them a lone star also) and that same caterer will do everything they can to provide mediocre food at high end prices. The scenery was beautiful, and the wedding planners were helpful. But the overall process was covered in tricks and price gouging. For the open bar that they offered, their staff was very good at opening multiple cases of wine without needing to, which we then had to pay for. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for your wedding day venue.

Everyone loved the food and unique presentations. The staff were incredibly friendly and flexible and a joy to work with. They made me feel so important, like this was the biggest day of the year for them and I know they are very busy. I can't say enough positive about them but by far the most helpful thing was something rather unexpected. About 2 months before the wedding, I met with them over the phone and in person to go over their pre-wedding questionnaires. Not only did this form help make sure we were on the same page with absolutely every detail, the process helped me realize some areas where I had been a little delinquent in my planning. This was especially helpful for the DIY bride. Highly recommended for any upcoming event.
