What a delightful jewellery store! I stopped in to look for a Christmas present for my best friend…read more The lovely sales lady spent over half an hour with me choosing the perfect gift, and even gift wrapped it in Christmas paper no less! They have a wonderful selection, there is literally something for everyone here. There are modern pieces, a small selection of estate jewellery, more classics or boho type pieces, and even a small selection for men. There is also a huge price range which is nice, many affordable pieces in the $50-100 range and also some precious stones and metals in the $500 + range. If you love jewellery or are looking for a special gift for someone, you won't leave here empty handed!

I myself have been in this location many of times just to look at all the beautiful pieces that are for sale or to see what was being produced. What I mean is that not only do the sell jewelry as well as Estate Jewelry they will customer design and create some of the most unique and exquisite designs that you will see. I love to go in and look in the counters and glass cases to get some ideas. As well they are able to repair your jewelry as well. Now pieces like you will find here are going to cost you some money but like my mother always said Quality over quantity and that is what you are going to get here Quality.

Nestled below a few steps off Spring Garden Road, this jewelry shop requires an extra glance to notice its there. The steps are deep, so be warned--I can see them being tricky for some. Visitors need to press the buzz to get inside, and its immediately obvious that this place isn't for tooting around. Teeny-tiny, but elegantly stated. The exposed brick wall and open workshop give Fawcett's its own hands-on personality. The goldsmith, Blaine, welcomed me kindly and was very helpful in giving me the shop scoop. While the show room displays mainly engagement rings, formal bands and the like, the business is built on custom designed jewelry. Everything is made right here in the shop, behind a wall divider, so as the goldsmith works, you can roam the shop and see him go. Its a different experience, and I liked it. The jewels are too rich for my blood, but maybe some day. Blaine mentioned that they were branching out with some newer and lower price range product, so don't let price stop you from going in for a peek. Overall, the work is excellent and the friendly, personably service seems A +. Open for over 18 years, its no wonder Fawcett's is still kicking.

I obviously didn't work as closely with them as he did, but in my dealings with them since then they have been nothing but polite and sincere - I think they like my ring even more than I do! Re-sizing was free and we are now working on designs for a band to go with my ring. The only thing I can't comment on here is price - my guy refuses to disclose what he spent, but I would imagine it was a lot based on the quality of the stones and the gold work. Pricing is not for the faint of heart, but what you get is quality and craftsmanship. There is no rhodium plating here - you get the real deal. The customer service is also excellent, particularly when contrasted with the service of chain stores.

Classic hippie store! I would imagine the local high school and college women would love this…read moreplace. Loads of Indian block-printed cotton items, plus tons of reasonably priced jewelry. Also tons of cute knickknacks like little figurines, Christmas ornaments, baby mobiles, and home decor items. They're open late, too. I could have browsed here for hours if I'd had the time.

Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. I had a great time browsing their large jewelery section. I almost bought the cutest bracelet, but it was a tad too big for me :( Staff were very nice. I always stop by when I'm in Halifax to poke around a bit, and be reminded of my style as a teenager, lol.

When you think ultra high end, most of us are trained to just think of Mills Brothers, but with gorgeous boutique shops like Frida, Halifax's luxury scene has a lot more depth than we think. Tucked away in the Bishop's Landing piazza, Frida is a feast for the eyes featuring truly incredible custom-made jewelry and one-of-a-kind pieces brought in from Italy and beyond. The in-store experience is a sight to be seen. Reminiscent of a Valentino showroom on the Las Vegas strip, or a bespoke tailor on Savile Row, the entire room shines with diamonds, golds, silvers, and more. The owner is usually on site and happy to tell you more about her work, the pieces, and the custom orders that are worthy of celebrity engagements. While it's well outside of my price range - or even the price range I hope of having at SOME point in my life - this store is worth a look, if nothing else than to see some of the most magnificent jewelry you can set your eyes on. The $3,500+ ring was a personal favourite of mine...
