First time at the new valley hospital and I was extremely impressed once inside. The navigating their campus outside is a bit confusing as parking and signage are not very helpful. I recommend using their valet as it saves you ample time. Once inside the staff were extremely helpful telling me exactly where I needed to go and which elevators and turns to make. Visiting my grandmother was easy and extremely pleasant. The new rooms are laid out extremely well as they have bathrooms, ample chairs, and a bench that turns into a bed for overnight guests as well. read more

I came here on 2/10 for a diagnostic mammogram due to a swollen breast filled with fluid and significant pain. I informed the technician of my condition before the procedure began and my concerns about the process. The mammogram was handled in a way that felt unnecessarily forceful. When the images were not coming out clearly, because of the swelling and fluid, I sensed visible irritation. I was pushed against the machine, my breast was forcefully squeezed in a manner that increased my pain, and I left me more sore and anxious about further aggravating an already concerning condition. I cannot recommend this facility based on that experience. read more

My husband had a great experience with the doctor who performed his TAVR procedure. However, we were most disappointed with the time frame he was given regarding his cardiac physical therapy. His procedure was on 1/20/26, but they weren't offering physical therapy until 3/5/26. It seemed counterproductive to start so long after the procedure. We were able to secure him cardiac physical therapy through a different hospital that started in early February. read more

If I could give no stars or negative stars I would. Notice the difference in the ratings since they left Ridgewood. I never had such an awful experience in a hospital as I did with them. I also would tell them to never call themselves a "care team". I was barely responsive but until my husband was carrying me to the bathroom they finally took me in. The pct there didn't think to take my vitals and asked my husband my name and decided to slap me in the face to "check" if I was conscious. I didn't respond but I could feel and knew everything that was going on. She still didn't check my vitals and called a code and stated cpr. I felt that! Thank goodness she didn't break my rib. The "care team" came in and told her to stop. You think with the altered neuro they'd do a ct scan right away- wasn't until my son called and told them to. That was 5 hrs into my er visit. I was admitted. The hospitalist was supposed to visit 2x, never showed up. But guess what- she was in the hospital both Times. I have epilepsy and until it was suggested by myself they finally connected me to the eeg machine. Guess what- that made a difference! Never send a loved one there. Go to Hackensck, Englewood, or Holy Name. I expected the highest of valley but I can tell you it's beautiful and got great chicken parm! read more

PROS: this is a brand new hospital that looks amazing! The staff is nice, they're clean and organized, and good at medical treatments compared to other hospitals. Parking is free and plentiful as well. The ER nurse Sharon was very helpful and friendly!! CONS: it takes forever to get service as my friend waited in the ER for a while. Not sure what happened here ....but since 2024 in my experience the entire Valley reputation, quality care and level of care has significantly declined in my opinion and the opinion of my circle of friends and family that have had negative experiences lately. It is sad because there are alot of great workers we encountered but the hospital protocols and fragmented care and the delay in the pharmacy meds being ordered and delivered is a big problem. The communication also could be improved upon. And the pushing for consults dnrs and unnecessary doctors coming in and billing medicare and these patients just to ask the same questions over and over and charging patients for this proves this hospital has turned into a business only now. Kickbacks incentives should be focused on patient care and not maxing out a medicare.visit and kicking the patient out in order to maintain a false sense of patient success. WE have had multiple incidents where delays and errors have caused more problems and then they kick you out without resolving the issues created there. I also along with other guests went to the Cafe area to eat and it was disgusting. Asking for disease spreading and hepatitis possibly. The stations were filthy fingerprints everywhere, self service, no cash, employees and guests together, very low quality unhealthy beverages and food offered and the food that sits out in buffets . The food they give the patients is also the most unhealthy and poorly prepared and thought out. Don't be deceived by the shiny floors fancy lights and giant tvs. We also had a bad er experience where we were asked to share an er bay with another sick person.... and even with this giant hospital they still had us waiting in the hallway in a bed. There is just too much not to leave a negative review. And being in healthcare myself for years I seen the decline in Healthcare overall for some time now. I took my husband to Valley ER. If I could I would give negative stars. The entire experience was horrible. Doc name came to see and nurses didn't care at all very cold and didn't care. My husband was in sever pain to a point were he was having a hot flash (possible high blood pressure) from the pain he couldn't tolarete. One of his eye blew a blood vessels got all blood read. they didn't care and didn't even want to come see him. So few mins later I asked for a wheelchair so I can take him to a different hospital and she didn't even look up and started walking. Few mins later she dropped off wheelchair and left. This is insane. You can make brand new facility but if you can't have more sympathetic staff and doctors. It all means nothing. I lost almost 2 hours with all this and went to Hackensack Hospital and we received excellent service. I live in Paramus and I would never recommend anyone Valley. ER is too small and very industrial looking. The ER looks old and outdated, I would never know this is a new hospital. Valley should have hired the architect who designed Jersey Shore Medical Center. Ridgewood resident having to visit the new Valley Hospital in Paramus Emergency Room for the first time. Waited almost six hours to be seem by a doctor. Nurses attending my husband were nice but the folks at the nurses station did not have the greatest bedside manner. Seemed disconnected from ER patients they were there to help. We got a room but kept having to ask for the basics - water, ice pack - as nobody asked about his pain level or what he needed even though he was writhing in pain. Pros: Nice, new hospital with all the amenities. Medical staff, communication, and processes really, really need to be improved in the ER. This was not what I expected from the new Valley Hospital, having been a resident here for so many years. Please do better. read more

This was my first time visiting this new hospital which opened after I moved from New Jersey to Delaware in 2021. I visited my older brother here. I was very impressed by the whole hospital including the entrance, lobby, hallways and rooms. I have visited the HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, when I lived in Bergen County. HMH Hackensack University Medical Center is an older hospital. Unlike HMH Hackensack University Medical Center there is no charge for parking here. My older brother stayed in a very nice large room with lots of automation features including automated blinds and video conferencing with any doctor or specialist in the world. There was also a robotic patient monitoring system. During my 6 hour stay the doctors, specialists and healthcare staff were very accommodating to my older brother and my visiting family. I heard that Valley convinced many of the doctors and staff from HMH Hackensack University Medical Center to move to this new hospital. During my 6 hour stay I also experienced staff passing out drinks and snacks in the hallway to everyone including patients, staff and visitors. I would return here to visit anyone although I hope there is no reason for any of my family or friends to be admitted here. I hope they all stay healthy and well. Best wishes to all. read more

the worst hospital experience ever. I got hurt at work, split my finger open, requiring stitches. waited in waiting room for 2 hours, saw a nurse who moved me to another room for two more hours. when I complained, the nurse smiled and told me "it happens on medical mondays". the nurse gave me 4 stitches to close wound. when I went to my personal physician, he had asked if I was the one who stitched up my own wound, and said what a pitiful job the valley hospital had done. in his estimation the wound required at least 10 stitches. valley hospital then billed me,$5356.10 in two seperate bills. the valley hospital is the worst ever. don't waste your time and money at The valley hospital. they will certainly ROB YOU BLIND read more

If you need care go elsewhere. Took a friend there on a Monday. He is a older gentleman who never went to the doctor. I tried to explain what the nurses and doctors need to do for him and calm him down as he may have been experiencing possibly a stroke or a concussion or something else. Nurse practically ripped the curtain open and scolded us for talking. I went to the desk to explain. We are talking to calm him down to get him to feel comfortable and relax as he hasn't been to a hospital in decades. She gave me a look like whatever. Go elsewhere for care. This place was a nightmare. They rebuilt the hospital to be bigger and better but wow. Every employee but the nurses were rude, lazy and seemingly miserable. The security was a joke, fighting with me every day when told my mother cannot go through metal detectors due to a defibrilator. The valet parking attendants were the absolute worst. My 88 year old mother was there for 6 days and left with bed sores. She was not changed/diapered as she needed to be. I arrived on three separate occasions and she was sitting in her own filth/not changed diapers. I spoke to the head nurse who just made excuses for the staff. If you need to be there with an elder person you need to hire a private aide to get the incontinence care/feeding and hydration that they need. I had 2 occasions in July 2025 to be brought to the Emergency Room because of a dislocated hip. The first time I was treated almost immediately, put into a room, given IV pain meds, hip was popped back in, and treated so well by all. The second visit was different because they were so very busy. I was in the hall from 7:00PM to 7:00AM before the Dr was able to see me and pop the hip joint back. The staff did everything to help me be comfortable, kept me on IV pain meds, got me to a bathroom, and were so kind. After we left I felt very satisfied with our experience. However 4 days later I have yet to have a radiologist read my X-ray and there is this strange flap of skin where the PA stitched my split lip. Visited an orthopedist yesterday who told me my knee is cracked in 3 places. Asked what the radiologist at the ER told me and I said I never heard a word. Valley has such a good reputation. Every person at valley hospital is extremely caring and very smart. I use valley doctors and all the medical groups and I recently went to Valley ER. Even though it takes a long time to get out of there they take good care of you. My leg was swolen and hurting. My legs had a Baker's cyst on it with fluid but that's not why the leg hurts. I also after an MRI know that I have a year in my knee that I didn't know about. They did a vascular scan, ct scan + MRI and now there's a chance they might be able to fix my leg and I might be able to walk normally, but better yet maybe have the pain go away. Nice doctors and nurses. My internist is Dr. Hart and she is the greatest. So smart and kind. read more

I have spent the last 2 days in the ER for chest pain (at times debilitating), shortness of breath, lower legs so swelled I can't see my ankles and when it hits bad I can barely walk. So Yesterday morning I went to the ER, they did an EKG, and Blood work. Results were 'unremarkable'. Last night at 9 PM I went again. This time, they did the same tests with the same results but added a CT Scan which was negative for 'acute' findings. I spent 10.5 hours there and was told they didn't know why I was having the symptoms I'm having, and go see a carologoist next week. I called a doctor relative who called them idiots. My symptoms are the same for a heart attack, Pericarditis, and Pulmonary Embolism. They should have run an Echocardiogram and or a VQ scan. I'm headed over to Hackensack Medical Center to get expect care. read more

This is a good place to grab a bite to eat -- what other restaurant is open 24/7? It's a whole experience here, too. First, they give you morphine (pretty intense but I can hang with the best of them), and then they leave you alone in a room full of people who are screaming about different ailments. The servers are all committed to the theme as well; they'll frequently come in and check your blood pressure and give you more morphine. Eventually I got brought into the main dining room. It's a bit cramped eating at table in bed; can't imagine what I would have done if I came with a group. Still, my food was very good. Loses a star because the price is exorbitant. I paid $22,000 for salmon? I brought this up with the manager and she mentioned that there were a few hidden fees (tax, service fee, hernia repair surgery fee, etc.) that added to my total.
