First time at the new valley hospital and I was extremely impressed once inside. The navigating their campus outside is a bit confusing as parking and signage are not very helpful. I recommend using their valet as it saves you ample time. Once inside the staff were extremely helpful telling me exactly where I needed to go and which elevators and turns to make. Visiting my grandmother was easy and extremely pleasant. The new rooms are laid out extremely well as they have bathrooms, ample chairs, and a bench that turns into a bed for overnight guests as well. read more

Then my doctor gave me a third time--"maybe." I can't reach anyone there. The patient portal refuses to let me register saying I don't have a legitimate email--which is ridiculous. I can't reach anyone there. I was only told someone would reach out to me--"maybe." My only option is spending the afternoon on hold and then getting bounced around. Caveat: One can be in the ER for HOURS! And that was on a "moderately busy" afternoon. We were there for 6 hours before my parent was admitted. They could use extra staffing in the ER. The ER doc was competent but perhaps had too many people to tend to. Once upstairs, the team was attentive and worked together like a well-oiled machine. The single rooms are modern and as pleasant as a hospital can be. Nice to be able to see who has been in the room via the history on a screen. Now I'm not fond of hospitals or medical buildings in general, cause in reality places like that make me uncomfortable, but I came here to see an elderly patient who is a mutual friend of a friend of mine, the patient at the moment is being well taken care of, the hospital itself is pretty organized and with adequate ample space as well as sanitized, I also like the selected doctors that show up on the TV screen in the room, but IMO I think every patient should have their own assigned set of RNs instead of different RNs everyday for the same patient, until the patient is discharged, then if necessary, a private nurse can be assigned after, that way, different doctors won't make the patient confused and figure which doctor is which, but overall, super grateful that the elderly patient has been taken care of in general, overall, it's a nice hospital, I also like the ambience of the waterfall and the butterfly garden when you leave the hospital, I also like that you don't pay for the parking when you park your car, unlike some of the other hospitals I have been to, so that's a plus.. read more

Communication failures throughout this health system. There are still nurses with power and control issues. Nurses are consistently dismissive and often mislead intentionally. Last issue was with same day nurse who describes herself as the charge nurse. Repeatedly gave me misleading information and displayed dangerous behavior in my opinion. Nurse that will not listen to family caregivers when they have extensive knowledge of their loved one is always a mistake. Misleading them intentionally by leaving out information or answering questions in a manipukative way is not going to build trust. Michelle was the angel who rescued us from the very unprofessional nurse we experienced. I also thought that charge nurse should be reprimanded for the way she showed up to work with ill-fitting scrubs pants dragging in hospital filth another sign she doesn't respect her job. Also she seemed to be putting on quite a show for what appeared to be student nurses. I also dont know how putting a blood pressure cuff on a calf over the patients post op leg compression sleeve is an accurate way to take an accurate bp reading.... and use that reading to medicate a patient off of. When confronted she began exhibiting hostility and abuse of power and control along with retaliatory behaviors....also witnessed by Nurse Michelle....a sweet Middle aged blonde Nurse who said she had been a long time valley employee. I am addressing a situation last fall and winter. October thru December where my Husband, a patient of Dr. Kevin Wood, Oncology was told he must go to the hospital immediately for a procedure called a JP drain to remove fluid from his abdominal cavity. My husband was admitted to the hospital after an ER visit and released after 10 days. He was readmitted in Nov for the same procedure and again, admitted in December. He did have some complications from a prior Gist Tumor surgery in 2018 that he had been under the care of Dr. Wood, for follow up since 2018. HOWEVER, Dr. Wood NEVER visisted or spoke to him in the hospital. The surgery team also did not follow up with my husband and they left him in the dark, not knowing what was wrong. His JP drain test results showed no cancer cells in the fluid. Dr. Wood, nor any other doctor, even the pathetic hospitalists, never spoke to my husband or myself about his condition or prognosis. They basically left him there to die. He caught Pneumonia while in Valley which ultimately took him down. I ended up transfering him out of Valley on my own dime. A biopsy at the other hospital proved he had metastasis in his lung and suspicion from the valley notes, probably in his abdomen. This was never discussed with us at Valley. Doctors dont talk to patients anymore? I wrote a letter to The new CEO Dr Robert Brenner, Dr Yallowitz the Chief Medical Director and Dr. Casper the Chief of Oncology. They responded to me and did meet with me twice to discuss my concerns. My concerns were mainly that patient Care at Valley is non existent. The surgical oncology team is terrible, especially Dr. Winkler, who should have made a referral, and Dr Wood was dissapointing. After treating my husband for 8 years, he could not even reach out by mail to express his condolences, never mind reaching out to his patient of 8 years to discuss that he was failing and probably dying, which he did the end of December. Valley Hospital is a hugh dissappoinment. The Chiefs of staff admitted to me that these Doctors did not know how to help my husband most likely, then why did they not refer him to someone who might have been able to?? Instead they let him lay in the hospital and get pneumonia. He was not important to them. Their hospitalists are useless and uninformed. Especially Dr Daveed and Dr Angiolino, The system of medicine in this day and age of "Hospitals are businesses" leave the patient to be the least important pieece of the puzzle. Its pathetic and sad. I lost my husband, my children lost their father. Dr Wood just lost a patient, he'll get another one. I would not recomend Valley, especially Oncology. Hind sight is 20/20. I feel like a fool. There are so many other problems at Valley in the ER and with Nursing, My husband Fell as Nurse JOLANDA allowed that to happen on her watch and he had 6 Staples to his head!!! She couldnt get to him in time and did not call me till 4 hours after it happened. Shame on her!!!! Shame on Valley. This hospital has gone downhill!!! Please, if you have a bad experience, write a letter (email) to the CEO and the Chiefs of staff. Patient advocacy can help you. Demand a meeting in person as I did.. express your concerns and demand they listen and hear you. This is the only way they MIGHT understand. Take the time to speak with them in person! read more

I came here on 2/10 for a diagnostic mammogram due to a swollen breast filled with fluid and significant pain. I informed the technician of my condition before the procedure began and my concerns about the process. The mammogram was handled in a way that felt unnecessarily forceful. When the images were not coming out clearly, because of the swelling and fluid, I sensed visible irritation. I was pushed against the machine, my breast was forcefully squeezed in a manner that increased my pain, and I left me more sore and anxious about further aggravating an already concerning condition. I cannot recommend this facility based on that experience. read more

My father, Thomas Materna, had surgery on April 27, 2026 and on at noon the next day the case manager never came to see him and was negligent in assisting him when it was her duty to do so. It's the hospital's responsibility to hire the right staff. No wonder the ratings for this hospital are very low. We intend to leave another negative review elsewhere. read more

PROS: this is a brand new hospital that looks amazing! The staff is nice, they're clean and organized, and good at medical treatments compared to other hospitals. Parking is free and plentiful as well. The ER nurse Sharon was very helpful and friendly!! CONS: it takes forever to get service as my friend waited in the ER for a while. Very small gift shop and a cafeteria that closes early OVERALL: I recommend coming here as a general hospital. My husband had a great experience with the doctor who performed his TAVR procedure. However, we were most disappointed with the time frame he was given regarding his cardiac physical therapy. His procedure was on 1/20/26, but they weren't offering physical therapy until 3/5/26. It seemed counterproductive to start so long after the procedure. We were able to secure him cardiac physical therapy through a different hospital that started in early February. read more

I took my husband to Valley ER. If I could I would give negative stars. The entire experience was horrible. Doc name came to see and nurses didn't care at all very cold and didn't care. My husband was in sever pain to a point were he was having a hot flash (possible high blood pressure) from the pain he couldn't tolarete. One of his eye blew a blood vessels got all blood read. they didn't care and didn't even want to come see him. So few mins later I asked for a wheelchair so I can take him to a different hospital and she didn't even look up and started walking. Few mins later she dropped off wheelchair and left. This is insane. You can make brand new facility but if you can't have more sympathetic staff and doctors. It all means nothing. I lost almost 2 hours with all this and went to Hackensack Hospital and we received excellent service. I live in Paramus and I would never recommend anyone Valley. ER is too small and very industrial looking. The ER looks old and outdated, I would never know this is a new hospital. Valley should have hired the architect who designed Jersey Shore Medical Center. Ridgewood resident having to visit the new Valley Hospital in Paramus Emergency Room for the first time. Waited almost six hours to be seem by a doctor. Nurses attending my husband were nice but the folks at the nurses station did not have the greatest bedside manner. Seemed disconnected from ER patients they were there to help. We got a room but kept having to ask for the basics - water, ice pack - as nobody asked about his pain level or what he needed even though he was writhing in pain. Pros: Nice, new hospital with all the amenities. Medical staff, communication, and processes really, really need to be improved in the ER. This was not what I expected from the new Valley Hospital, having been a resident here for so many years. Please do better. read more

If I could give no stars or negative stars I would. Notice the difference in the ratings since they left Ridgewood. I never had such an awful experience in a hospital as I did with them. I also would tell them to never call themselves a "care team". I was barely responsive but until my husband was carrying me to the bathroom they finally took me in. The pct there didn't think to take my vitals and asked my husband my name and decided to slap me in the face to "check" if I was conscious. I didn't respond but I could feel and knew everything that was going on. She still didn't check my vitals and called a code and stated cpr. I felt that! Thank goodness she didn't break my rib. The "care team" came in and told her to stop. You think with the altered neuro they'd do a ct scan right away- wasn't until my son called and told them to. That was 5 hrs into my er visit. I was admitted. The hospitalist was supposed to visit 2x, never showed up. But guess what- she was in the hospital both Times. I have epilepsy and until it was suggested by myself they finally connected me to the eeg machine. Guess what- that made a difference! Never send a loved one there. Go to Hackensck, Englewood, or Holy Name. I expected the highest of valley but I can tell you it's beautiful and got great chicken parm! read more

This was my first time visiting this new hospital which opened after I moved from New Jersey to Delaware in 2021. I visited my older brother here. I was very impressed by the whole hospital including the entrance, lobby, hallways and rooms. I have visited the HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, when I lived in Bergen County. HMH Hackensack University Medical Center is an older hospital. Unlike HMH Hackensack University Medical Center there is no charge for parking here. My older brother stayed in a very nice large room with lots of automation features including automated blinds and video conferencing with any doctor or specialist in the world. There was also a robotic patient monitoring system. During my 6 hour stay the doctors, specialists and healthcare staff were very accommodating to my older brother and my visiting family. I heard that Valley convinced many of the doctors and staff from HMH Hackensack University Medical Center to move to this new hospital. During my 6 hour stay I also experienced staff passing out drinks and snacks in the hallway to everyone including patients, staff and visitors. I would return here to visit anyone although I hope there is no reason for any of my family or friends to be admitted here. I hope they all stay healthy and well. Best wishes to all. read more

the worst hospital experience ever. I got hurt at work, split my finger open, requiring stitches. waited in waiting room for 2 hours, saw a nurse who moved me to another room for two more hours. when I complained, the nurse smiled and told me "it happens on medical mondays". the nurse gave me 4 stitches to close wound. when I went to my personal physician, he had asked if I was the one who stitched up my own wound, and said what a pitiful job the valley hospital had done. in his estimation the wound required at least 10 stitches. valley hospital then billed me,$5356.10 in two seperate bills. the valley hospital is the worst ever. don't waste your time and money at The valley hospital. they will certainly ROB YOU BLIND read more

If you need care go elsewhere. Took a friend there on a Monday. He is a older gentleman who never went to the doctor. I tried to explain what the nurses and doctors need to do for him and calm him down as he may have been experiencing possibly a stroke or a concussion or something else. Nurse practically ripped the curtain open and scolded us for talking. I went to the desk to explain. We are talking to calm him down to get him to feel comfortable and relax as he hasn't been to a hospital in decades. She gave me a look like whatever. Go elsewhere for care. This place was a nightmare. They rebuilt the hospital to be bigger and better but wow. Every employee but the nurses were rude, lazy and seemingly miserable. The security was a joke, fighting with me every day when told my mother cannot go through metal detectors due to a defibrilator. The valet parking attendants were the absolute worst. My 88 year old mother was there for 6 days and left with bed sores. She was not changed/diapered as she needed to be. I arrived on three separate occasions and she was sitting in her own filth/not changed diapers. I spoke to the head nurse who just made excuses for the staff. If you need to be there with an elder person you need to hire a private aide to get the incontinence care/feeding and hydration that they need. You will not get it from the basic nursing staff. read more

I had 2 occasions in July 2025 to be brought to the Emergency Room because of a dislocated hip. The first time I was treated almost immediately, put into a room, given IV pain meds, hip was popped back in, and treated so well by all. The second visit was different because they were so very busy. I was in the hall from 7:00PM to 7:00AM before the Dr was able to see me and pop the hip joint back. The staff did everything to help me be comfortable, kept me on IV pain meds, got me to a bathroom, and were so kind. Yes, maybe they were understaffed, but I saw them treat everyone with the best care. Thanks to them! read more

Its not the small community hospital anymore. Over an hour wait in the ER waiting room only to be sent in to the pediatric ER to get a bed in hallway so, we left. Staff seemed like they couldnt care less and the magic is gone. For a new faciity, doesnt seem well thought out- over capacity on a Thursday night. Small community hospital is gone. I don't know where else we can go but, sorry to say, totally unimpressed. read more
