So I took it to the UPS Store to get them to package it, thinking I would get it boxed there and then drive back to FedEx to drop it off. The team there offered to build me a custom box, though they wouldn't be able to do it until Monday (this was on a Saturday). I was leaving town Sunday, but when I told them that they said it was no problem; they offered to wrap the box and take it to the nearby FedEx shipping center in the shopping center on Monday, when I was out of town. They did so, and called me to confirm it Monday, and the package arrived with no trouble. Really appreciated them going the extra mile on what had been a very frustrating day up to that point.

The man was really liberal in his measurement of my parcel (way overestimating the dimensions of the item). I had to reason with him about his measuring methods and he remeasured and readjusted the price quote. 1st quote: 'it is going to be over $200' 2nd quote: 'it is going to be about $150' 3rd quote: 'it is going to be $110' Lesson: Do your research beforehand - call and get an estimate. While I'm not surprised at hearing UPS dropped the ball/package on their end she offered to accept my package regardless and stated she'd arrange a pick-up nonetheless - they should be ever so grateful to have a representative who goes out of her way to fix an error on UPS's end that she shouldn't have to be bothered with yet she seemed all too happy to go out of her way to assist and help me out nonetheless!
