Every 1 Star review here is not an exaggeration. This is my 2nd encounter with the woman who runs this place. The first time was over a year ago returning an Amazon package and the only reason I remember her was because how rude she treated me that time. This time was exponentially worse encounter with her. My problem was not with this location. It was with the online appointment service. I wish I'd read the reviews before driving out of my way to this location. I needed to have a document notarized. The website let me make an appointment, but when I got to the store, I was told they didn't have a notary. The young man working at the counter was helpful, but he shouldn't have to deal with this issue. After reading the other reviews, it sounds like he has to face disappointed customers all the time. UPS needs to fix this, and only offer appointments at the stores that offer the service. read more

I went to this location, yesterday, to send a return to Amazon. The first thing I see when I walk in is a young woman behind the counter, just deciding to put a face mask on as I'm walking in, and is wearing a t-shirt, gym shorts, and flip flops with socks. The first thing she says to me "do not walk up to my counter right now", so I'm like "okay" and stepped back behind the tape on the floor. Bad start. "What do you need?" She asks me, like I could possibly have the audacity to walk into this store for anything and interrupt the literal nothing she was doing. "I have an amazon return", I said. "Put it on the counter and step back. I also need the code." So I put the package on the counter and step back like she asked, still baffled at how rude and standoffish she was being. Like I get that we're all a little on edge because of the pandemic, but I was wearing a mask, being cautious and practicing social distancing, so there was no valid reason for her to take her day out on me like this. So since she asked for the code, I didn't know if she wanted me to read the code to her from my phone or bring it up to her to scan, so I waited for her instruction. Finally, she said "put your phone on the counter and step back, sir" like I'm a complete idiot for not following such basic instructions. At this point, I just wanted to get out of there, so she scans the phone, gives me my receipt and says "thanks, have a good one" and I was so angry at this point, I didn't even respond to her. I'm perplexed that someone so rude, unprofessional, and just plain nasty has been able to keep her job for this long, and judging on the previous reviews, any attempt at disciplinary action seems to have gone nowhere (probably because they're so desperate for employees due to the aforementioned high turnover.) And I'm sure this review will go nowhere, too, but I needed a place to vent my frustration and share my experience so someone else who has had a run in with this woman will feel validated. Enter this location at your own risk, or just drive a little out of your way to go to another UPS Store where you hopefully won't be dealing with someone like her. This store is not worth the stress it causes. It is rarely open on time, even pre-COVID. I was there at 10:45 a.m. yesterday and no one was there. There were three other people trying to ship items as well. I tried again this afternoon. The woman with a terrible attitude was literally throwing boxes off the counter and kicking them around the floor as she "helped" one customer. The next person in line got into an argument because she said he couldn't ship his box. He told her she "had a fantastic attitude" and left. Today I went in to this store to ship a Spectrum router and return a amazon package. There was a staff member who was very rude to me and the previous customer. She was an African American Woman with a shaved head. She seemed bothered that she had to service the customers. WORST UPS STORE!! PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO SOME OTHER STORE NO MATTER HOW CLOSE THIS ONE IS. I was so angry with how she treated me and the previous customer that after I was done I just walked away to prevent myself from losing it. It says "notaries" as their description on here but they do not offer notaries. They either used to and need to hire a new person to do the job or they no longer offer the service. When they called they advised that I try getting a notary at State Farm instead. read more

I inquired about the cost of shipping an antique bar mirror with them. It is a large mirror that could not ship via normal UPS, it had to go freight. After an associate misquoted the first time, a manager stepped in and quoted me a freight price of $349.00 + $150 for a specialty box. She even confirmed it the next day with a phone call. That was within reason with the buyer of the mirror, so I put down a deposit, so they could order the box. Two days later someone else contacted me saying that they had misunderstood the information and that the price would now be $3200.00. Which is totally outrageous, considering they had quoted and accepted a deposit on the order. It appears that the UPS Stores do not train their associates in the use of freight shipping. If you are planning on shipping something, avoid going through the UPS Stores! read more

I have upped my review of this store by one star, because yesterday I received a callback from the store manager, Kevin. We spoke for about a half hour and he was very kind and concerned with my negative experience. It sounds like staff turnover has been a challenge with the 3 UPS Stores he and his wife own. I appreciated the time he took to speak with me, and as a result, will attempt to visit this particular store location again. I will report back on my experience whenever that happens. read more

This store moved to a new location (not Julian Place, it's in Nottingham Plaza now) and has new staff. I've gone to this UPS for many years on a nearly monthly basis. Things have improved greatly. If you are hesitant to go to this location, don't be. With the new staffing, I've been treated very professionally and they have been friendly and helpful. read more

I just went to the UPS Store on Nottingham Road and while I have found the person who runs the store to be unfriendly in the past, today she was downright abusive. My crime? I asked where she would like me to place my package (there are two counters and two scales) and she proceeded to berate me for most of the time I was in the store. If I could leave only zero stars, I would. I am 62 years old and have never been treated so rudely in my life. The employee actually seemed angry that I came in the store. I had received an email an hour earlier telling me my package had been delivered there. She just typed in my last name, said the package wasn't there and there was nothing she could do. She refused to even look at the email on my phone, saying "that has nothing to do with me." I said "but you're the UPS store." She informed me she was only the associate, not the owner, so she did not represent UPS and could do nothing. Go to any other UPS location in Syracuse if you can. If I could give zero stars I would! The reviews below are so similar to my experience. It is incredible that this woman still works there and that they do any business at all. IfI stopped in to drop off some prepaid packages. I was the only one in the store and she wouldn't get up from a chair in the back. She barked at me "what do you want?" I very nicely explained that I needed to drop off returns. She pointed to the scale, scanned my items sighing between each one and then throwing each one in the back of the room. A few hours later only half of my items were marked as scanned. These were expensive items! I returned this morning to check on the status and find out why the two were not processed and they aren't open. Over an hour after they were due to open and still no one has arrived. I have seen at least SEVEN customers come and go in the time I have been waiting. I feel bad for the owners and the lost business but if you choose to keep employees that are rude, offensive and clearly not dependable then it is your choice. I just hope I don't lose the money for these items that I dropped off at this store. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience with this store. It is the most convenient to work and the day I went to ship my package, I was there at 9:30 and the store was not opened yet. I had checked the website and knew what the hours were supposed to be. I went on to work and ran back over in the afternoon. As the older gentleman was making my label and charging me for my box, I was asked the value. I was a shipping a coat in for repair. As I said the value of the coat, the woman that I have read previous reviews about stepped out from the back and looked at me. I didn't think anything of it at the time. A few days later I receive an email from where the coat was going and they received a damaged box with no coat inside. I did everything I needed through ups to be told I then needed to go through the actual store. The guy on the phone at the store seemed cheery and unsympathetic for the fact that something I shipped never made it where it was going and then hasn't done a great job with following up and helping me in this process. It's now been over 4 weeks and I yet to have a check in my hands so that I can replace my coat. I will never ship a single thing from there and I walk past the place daily. I agree with the other reviews that some of the people do not belong working with the public. I understand finding people is tough, but I wouldn't put my name anywhere on this place and it's in such a better place than it was before. read more

I have literally driven further away to a UPS store farther from home, in order to avoid this store because a particular staff member there is so unpleasant. I literally thought she personally did not like me, until I read the other reviews for this location. If you like to stare into the eyes of someone who looks at you like they hate you, then go for it. I brought more than $800 in business to another UPS store specifically to avoid this. However, on the last day of my move and without a car or time I HAD to go here, and yes my last moments living in Syracuse were awful because she was so rude to both me and the friend who drove me there. If I could give zero stars I would. The shaved headed woman is always a pain to deal with. I've experienced many customers getting frustrated and storming out with her screaming at them as they leave. My mom owns a business that does all of our shipping with UPS. Since COVID started, some of our packages randomly get sent to the store for pickup and it's always an argument when I try to pick them up. I have been in dozens of times and it's the same issue over and over again. My first name doesn't match the contact on the package but the business' name is also on there. I have even had to show her my business card to "prove" that I was an employee. She is extremely rude and unpleasant to speak to. Whoever the owner is should be ashamed and embarrassed that this is the way his business is represented. Learn some manners. I wish I could say I would never go back but that's not an option since my packages are sometimes going there. I'm looking forward to the call I will have with my contact at the corporate office. read more

The lady working there was perhaps the rudest customer service rep or behind the counter employee I've ever met. I walked in and before I myself could even say hello, she looks up as I'm putting my packages down on the scale and says: "Now, what could I POSSIBLY help YOU with?" I already had labels on and I asked to ship them out and get a receipt. She did not respond. Without making eye contact with me again, she took my packages, literally threw them on some pile in the back, and dropped my receipt on the counter and walked away. I recently purchased an iPad Pro from Best Buy in preparation for the upcoming school year. I am a teacher, and therefore am very dependent of this device to do my job during virtual learning. Due to my short timeline, I paid $21.99 for expedited 2-day shipping. Two days later, I received a notice on my door indicating that UPS had attempted (and failed) to deliver the package to my apartment and that it would be rerouted to the nearest UPS access point, which in my case is the Nottingham Rd. location. I will also add that there were 5 people home in the apartment at the time of the "attempted delivery". The next day, I received a confirmation of delivery to the store from both UPS and Best Buy, and that the item was awaiting pickup. According to the confirmation the delivery was also signed for by a UPS employee (I will not name the particular employee, but based on prior reviews, you can probably make an educated guess as to who that employee is). Upon arrival, I was treated dismissively and told that the delivery had not arrived yet despite the electronic confirmation I had received. They suggested I come back later that day to check if the item had arrived. I visited the store 3 times that day, and spoke with the owner several times, who indicated that the package was indeed missing, but that he had no power to rectify the situation because he was barred from making a claim through his internal system. He told me I would have to make a claim online or call UPS customer service line. Needless to say, these were dead ends as well, and I am unable to file a claim on a package that has been marked "delivered", regardless of the fact that it has vanished. Making a claim over the phone is also impossible according to UPS customer service. Fast forward 7 days and I am out $900, 6+ hours of time attempting to get answers from UPS, and still have no iPad. I do not recommend using this store unless this level of corporate ineptitude is your idea of cosmic humor. read more

I've been going to the Julian Plaza UPS for a few years now and have had numerous business and family boxes to ship on a deadline. The store owner and employees have always been there for me. Angela, the agent who has aided me the most, can always be counted on to be professional, knowledgeable and in complete control of what needs to be done for you. She answers my many questions in an expeditious manner and goes out of her way to help me fill out forms, set up the settings I need on the copier, etc. I rely on this store (and Angela) and recommend it highly. We entered the store and immediately got yelled " only three inside the store". We didn't argue it and went outside. There was no signs saying only 3 and felt we didn't deserve the treatment off the back. We go back inside and we had a scheduled appointment to get a document notarized. We politely mention that and she rudely says" we don't do that here! In an aggressive tone. We asked why would the schedule an appointment and she said " I don't know , we don't do that here again in a very rude tone. We ask to speak to a manager but she says " sorry can't do that" so we say can we see a business card to contact him, again in a rude tone "NO". From the start she is rude to the customer for no reason. Customer Service is not only bad but I have to say it's extremely terrible. Save your trip , DO no go there. I rather drive a bit more and be content with who you are treated. The manager takes no responsibility as he lets he walk all over him. Corporate should READ these comments and fire her. She does not belong in a place where you're suppose to work with customers all day. She clearly doesn't enjoy working there NOR like customer service. If I could give "ZERO" stars I would. A month ago I went in, received attitude from a girl with a shaved head and was told "um this is NOT the u.s. Post office" when I explained that is how I wanted to send it. Spoiler alert, yes they can and the owner is the one who told me they could. There is a P. O. BOX at that location which is the only reason I had to go there. This time, a month later, I had the same issues, had to have them show me the screen and explain to them which option needed to be sent once again. This time when I expressed frustration and explained this is what happened last time and I received attitude, the same shaved head girl who gave me problems the last time BLEW UP "Fuck this, if you have a problem get the fuck out of the store you fucking faggot!" I called the owner Kevin at another location and was simply told "Thank you for being direct, I want to hear what the girls have to say". No apology, no expression of remorse or disgust, no offer of anything. Just "I want to hear what they have to say". It is disgusting and absurd that anyone be talked to like that for being legitimately irritated by horrible customer service. I didn't do or say anything to warrant such a disgusting response. I imagine people here are being overcharged and having things take longer because those girls don't know anything. They pick the top option even if it's more expensive and will arrive a week later. I know, because I've had them show me the screen and showed them the right one multiple times. DO NOT trust your packages with these people! I called ups store corporate and the owners tried to retaliate by contacting the woman they know I work for (her p.o. box I went to there) to lie about me, discredit me and get me fired. I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my entire life. I have been coming to this particular UPS store for a while now because it is in my neighborhood and in the past, the gentlemen who have been there have been great. The one particular woman who "helped" me today was nasty to the customer in front of me (an older woman who was confused about the documents the employee had just handed her without saying a word) and then acted like I was inconveniencing her when I needed one document printed. When she took my thumb drive and asked me what document I wanted to print, I told her I didn't know the name of it and would need to see the documents on the screen. She rudely responded with "you're not touching my computer". If customers aren't allowed to touch your computer, then why is it not behind the counter? Why is it in the lobby area of the store? This is not the first time I have experienced her rude behavior, but I'm just over it at this point. This store will no longer receive my business if that woman continues to treat customers that way. read more
