Terrible experience. A caretaker who speaks limited English went in with a pre-paid label and a fully packed box, and was charged $17.41 for an unnecessary box with no clear explanation. This should have been a simple shipment. When I followed up, the manager (Kathy) was dismissive and unhelpful. No transparency, no effort to explain the charge--just poor customer service. This felt like taking advantage of someone who couldn't easily question it. I would not trust this location--double check every charge. read more

I went to this store to utilize is Amazon return services. As I was passing by the store I could not find the store front. After several attempts I was able to locate the store due the presence of Amazon advertising on a ground decal. Had I needed to use the UPS services I would have not found the store. It was difficult to go inside because the store is not American Disability Act Disability friendly. I had to sit at the entrance door for a while as I looked at the employees in the window. They stared at me, but did not offer any assistance. Luckily a person walking but opened the door so I could get into the small building. Amazon services was able to send my package with a label for the value of the Amazon Prime cost (no fee for shipping a return). read more

10/29/2025. The manager of the store is an absolute doll. Willing to go the extra mile for anybody with a smile. However, the employees are inot so great. Including today when a gentleman literally they slammed the door in my face and gave the cut neck sign! Refused to take a package with a label on ready to go. TERRIBLE! Go somewhere else. They dont know how to pack things and honestly they dont care. They sloppily packed network equipment and didnt even use foam, bubble wrap and any protection. A tremendously overworked crew always manages to get the job done quickly & efficiently as possible, although you would think it was the first time some folks had shipped something. With the advent of Amazon returns there's always a line, sometimes out the door. I don't know how they do it. They don't smile a lot but neither would I. Be nice to them! Worst possible service, ran here 20 minutes, got here right at 4pm, the woman customer service person watched me run across the street, looked me dead in the eye, and took the sign in and refused to open the door! All while servicing 1 customer inside. This is not how good businesses are run. Zero empathy for people who clearly are out of breath trying to mail something out. Just trying to make life difficult for other people when all it took was 1 minute to scan something. Ups should be ashamed of this level of customer goodwill destruction. Setting poor example for other workers who might understand and have some empathy for how the world should function, where we provide some grace for one another and not intentionally try to kick others at the exact moment of need. read more

Had a notary appointment at 163 Amsterdam Ave at 3:30pm. Showed up at the Store at 3:30pm for my appointment. Unbeknownst to me (and not listed on UPS's website), the Store moved to 187 Amsterdam - a block north, as noted on the Stores window. Got to the store by 3:32pm. The notary (Eucharyst) REFUSED to notarize my documents because I was 2 minutes "late." I explained that I did not know the Store had moved and apologized for my "tardiness." She continued to REFUSE to notarize my document - stating she NEVER notarizes after 3:30pm - even though my appointment was for such time. I offered to pay extra cash but she continued to refuse. There was no one at the store - no lines in front of me or behind me. She had no reason, other than her bad attitude and wanting to "stick it to me" for whatever reason. I explained the importance of the document and the urgency I had to mail it out via UPS (thus giving the Store more business). She could care less and did not once give me the decency or respect to look me in the eye. I have been coming to this store for over 10 years - I am a loyal customer. Eucharyst has never been friendly and clearly lacks customer service 101, but I never made an issue of it until now. Unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. Natasha, another employee, has always been professional and kind when I've been there. Don't ask Eucaryst for any help. read more

I love how a couple of (fake!) 5-star reviews are listed following all the 1-stars! if the was a zero-star option, I would've picked it-- I've been to a lot of UPS stores in my time and this has got to be the worst! rude, rude and RUDE. The competency level here is bad. I came in to pick up an online order and showed my ID. The young woman said the package wasn't there based on my name and sent me away. I had to show her the tracking number on my phone and tell her it was delivered to the store, which it was. She saw on my phone that it was delivered a few days ago and tried to dismiss me, saying that packages are sent back after a week. I had to point out that it hadn't been a week yet before she entered the tracking number into the computer. Only then did she tell me that the package was there. To top it all off, I was charged $12 to pick up the package. I would rather risk having someone in my building steal my package than to come here ever again. read more

I dropped off a package here, well-packed and taped, had them scan the label and give me a receipt, and they went on to lose the package and never had it picked up. (The store claims every package is picked up the day of drop off and they made no effort to look through their disorganized clutter for it.) "Customer service" (information obfuscation and hoop-jumping hell would be more apt department names) had me call, re-call, transfer, read them the tracking label over and over and over, randomly disconnect, and resort to using the military alphabet to try to get the point across that this location lost my package. It got escalated endless times, and to their claims department twice. They also claim that franchises are "out of their control" and that the best method is to have a driver pick up the package. (Good luck getting that scheduled!) 100% terrible experience and I'm going to take a thousand-dollar loss thanks to their incompetence and mismanagement. read more

I've tried to give this location the benefit of the doubt multiple times and each time every employee acts as if supporting customers is the biggest inconvenience. Go to the 72nd Street location. They are professional and service oriented. It's 1000Xs worth the extra blocks walk. I'll never return to Amsterdam location. Horrible. read more

I've been going to this UPS store for four years. I have shipped countless packages. I've had the pleasure of working with Eucarys, who is exceptional. She is always pleasant, professional and calm in the sometimes "line of customer" fire. I've shipped so many packages to my niece and nephews that she remembers their names and asks how they are when I come into the store. I've actually used her as an example of the client service standard when talking to my own sales team. You are lucky to have her as an employee. I was at the UPS store today and met Nelson. Once again, I had a terrific experience. He was so sincere and helpful. UPS Store #6514, I don't know how you do it, but you are winning with customers in the middle of Manhattan, where warm client service is lacking. Congratulations! read more

I am not sure what is wrong with this particular UPS store but it is not representative of the other UPS store locations. Because this location is the closest one to my apartment, I gave it several chances and was uniformly disappointed. The notary is never there. On a visit to the store today 7/11/15 a guy screwed up a project I paid for, despite me being the only one in the store, no pressure. He seemed more focused on sexually harassing his female coworker and spent about 20 seconds on my documents. When I called out his errors on my project, he repeatedly asserted that it was disrespectful to criticize his work and he wouldn't tolerate anyone complaining about it. You rarely find this particularly emboldened type of laziness and inept outside of social welfare housing situations. Go to the post office on Columbus, the UPS store on 72nd instead, or the FedEx store at Columbus circle instead. read more

Pleasant and expedient staff. It's a small location but that doesn't mean you wait long. Each associate moved quickly, answered questions quickly and accurately, they were all knowledgeable of services and options to help customers. It's only 4 stars because I needed to use the computer and the system is rather slow but they charge you for time. $5 for 10 minutes but it takes you 4.5 minutes to log in. read more

I went to send a package, it was an expensive item, so the total came to $41 with insurance. Right after sending the package, I realized I used the wrong address, and had to quickly call them within 10 minutes to hold the package for me. The employee confirmed with me that they can hold the package for an hour. I go back in about 20 minutes, and the employee tells me that they took the package, and there is no way for me to retreive it. Another employee goes to the small room behind, and the manager doesn't seem to care either and doesn't bother to come out to help me. The employee comes back and tells me I need to come back the next morning to request a return. Instead of any apologies or fix, they emphasize that there will be no refund. I called UPS directly, and they say that I need to fix this with the store, as each store is run privately. I have not had a bad experience at other UPS store, but this branch seems to be irresponsible for what the employee says or does for the customer, and the manager doesn't seem to care about it. Thankfully, the package came back, and I had to buy another shipping label to send it to the correct address. I will not be coming back to this branch, there is another UPS store pretty close by.
