This place is a joke. They charge exorbitant prices for boxes and shipping and they refuse to use the boxes that the item originally came in because it is an Express box, even though the label is paid for. They just want to gouge the customer. They messed up a shipment a few months ago which ended up costing me $150 and I should not have tried to use them again today. My bad. Walked in, empty store, 2 young men looked up quick, then stood there avoiding eye contact. I had to ask if I'd be helped, awkward. Reluctantly one threw out his hand, took my package, scanned it, shoved out the receipt, zero eye contact, not even a grunt. The strangest, most rude & coldest experience. This place is the WORST and I will never go there again. First off, the store is filthy dirty. Try washing the front door once in awhile! Have you ever heard of a vacuum? Just nasty. The staff seem like they want to be anywhere else but there.. customer service sucks! My small package cost $23 and change to ship, I figured, ok, that's a lot but I guess that's the going rate.. I tried paying with a couple of brand new $2 bills, and the assistant manager would not accept as form of payment. It's US Treasury bonafide CASH. I ended up walking out in frustration and disgust. I then proceeded to go to Mount Sinai post office where the package was $13 and change and the attendant gladly accepted my two dollar bills. I went here for a return item to the big online retailer. I had the QR code and item was properly boxed and had no shipping labels or anything on it. This store REFUSED to ship item back to A retailer unless I purchased packaging from them for $10. What a scam buyer be warned. The UPS Store in Mount Sinai's hours show 8:30AM opening, Monday through Friday. Today, was the second time I have tried to go to this UPS Store at 8:30AM. I waited for over 5 minutes, and the gates were still down in the store. Whoever is responsible for opening this store on weekdays, should not be in charge to do so as they are not on time! I was a Store Manager and if the store was not opened on time, there would be consequences! I will be sure not to visit this UPS Store again! Very disappointing. read more

We are living during a strange time in our lives. Masks cover our faces as we briskly walk by one another with hopes of accomplishing our goals and returning home. It is tough to smile as we can no longer see the mouths of those we walk by. Conversations are short as we keep a distance between those we come into contact with. Customer service skills have become non-existent and it seems that everyone is just out for himself (let me add "herself" before I receive 1000's of complaints from the "Potato Head" fans.) I must say that Taylor had excellent customer service skills. I have worked in many different areas and things can sure become stressful when there is a line of people and you are the only one working but not for this bright individual. Taylor was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and was willing to help to make sure that the needs of the customer were met. I was in another UPS location and the employee was very angry and having a rough day so I decided to drive here and I am glad I did. I see several negative reviews on here and I can guarantee that those people have not worked with Taylor. I review many places so believe me when I say that I definitely recommend Taylor at this UPS location. And he is a notary......an extra bonus. The UPS store in Mount Sinai ( Store 3167) is awesome. Every time I go in there the workers go above and beyond to help me. Vinny was awesome today, in helping me get my packages shipped to my son. I never have any problems and my packages are always delivered on time and with no issues. The workers are always very friendly and helpful. I won't go anywhere else. Today, i probably had the worst customer disservice situation by a UPS troll named Blake, who tauted himself as the store "know it all" store manager at the time to another male employee. At first, Blake was very helpful in getting a very important item for sale, possibly worth thousands of dollars packaged. I did not tell him it was worth that much but he may have accrued its value from the fact that i inquired about requesting insurance. he said ups does not provide insurance on said item. I asked Blake to put some cardboard to protect the valuable photograph which he did when he took my bubbles envelop with the photograph with the contract to the los angeles auction house. i waited about 5 minutes and heard blake say "i could leave now!" i said i want to make sure the photograph is in the envelope with the contract before it was mailed off. at that point, blake turned on me like satan. "that's not how it works here." i said "what?" he said he was overly patient with me getting the proper envelope and putting the cardboard in the envelope as i requested, and "that i was done and get out of the store." i told blake that i just want to make sure everything is in the envelope [the valuable photograph, the auction contract and the cardboard], as we had cordially discussed just moments before. blake reiterated rather loudly and threateningly to get out of the store." at that point i knew i wasn't going to get anywhere with this nutjob, so i left and immediately called ups customer service agents kim and adeena who filed a formal complaint with ups corporate office as blake had so arrogantly screamed for me to do before i left the store. i also called the suffolk county police to see if i had any recourse in case my valuable photograph did not get to auction house or was received by the auction house in los angeles without the valuable photograph. Presuming, from the virulent manner in which Blake refused my request that I inspect the contents of the envelope before it was sealed and shipped, I assumed the contents of the envelope was tampered with, and worse yet, that the photograph was stolen. I also contacted the Sixth POLICE Precinct to see what recourse I had at that time. The police officer did find it suspicious that Blake, the UPS employee, refuse that I inspect MY PROPERTY, before it was sealed and shipped. The police said, at this point no crime of theft had been perpetrated. However, the officer did say that if the photograph is not included on the envelope at time of arrival at the auction house, that's a different story. The ups corporate office is now involved as well with my complaint. obviously, video recordings of this entire customer service debacle will undoubtedly verify my testimony here, unless Blake, or said management, which has 48 hours to investigate this matter to contact me, suspiciously attempts to erase the video of what took place at the Mt. Sinai LONG ISLAND NEW YORK UPS STORE between 3:42-3:52 pm store today, july 10th 2020. ps: UPS CORPORATE should use the video of OF NUTJOB BLAKE'S 10 minute transaction with ME, and entitle it; "how to get fired from UPS in ten minutes or less." LIKE i said, I HAVE BEEN ON EARTH 67. AND I HAVE never been treated like this in a store. ZERO stars for Blake and this UPS store today. The rating won't let me give it zero starsl for some reason. Our family lawyer, who vouched for the mailing of this photograph and the contract sent in an accompanying affidavit, has been notified as well, just in case the photograph does not make it to the auction house in due time. read more

I was home visiting family and mailing things back home a day or so before my flight. The Staples UPS machine up the road was not working so the guy at Staples sent me here. A girl behind the counter, probably about 22, refused to take my box. It was a wine box filled with my clothing and such. She told me it's illegal to send anything in an alcohol labeled box. I told her there is no alcohol in it and she could open the box and inspect my items. She stated that the mere fact that it was an alcohol labeled box made it illegal for them to ship. I had never heard that. I left there and drove back West to my local Post Office where they shipped it no questions asked but I paid a good $7-$9 more, not to mention all of the out-of-the-way driving I did, particularly a day before a flight. Fast forward a few months and I go to drop something off in my local UPS store and I spot an alcohol labeled box ready to be shipped out by the store. I tell the clerk in there my story and she was incredulous. She had never heard anything like that either and told me it wasn't true. The UPS store in Mt. Siani should not even be allowed to be in business. It not only gives UPS a bad name but it infuriated me when I found out it was all a fabricated lie and cost me more money. I couldn't figure out at the time why it was illegal for UPS to ship something but NOT illegal for the Post Office to ship the same thing. If I were still in NY I would go back in that store and demand a refund for the difference I paid and the inconvenience I incurred. I didn't say anything for this girl to turn away my business and the place was not crowed whatsoever. I know some people in the back heard her speech to me yet no one came out to correct her lie. It's as if she just did not want my business, or was discriminating against me for some unknown reason. I don't know. I'm working on reporting them to UPS corporate and possibly the BBB. The next time I'm visiting family in NY, I hope this place will be gone. I have no tolerance for things like that. That goes beyond a simple mistake; that was an egregious lie to get rid of me. read more

I bought quick study guides that were on sale for my online courses. I mistakenly had taken one I didn't need and wanted to return that item.I wanted to return the item less than 5 minutes after the initial transaction. The little girl at the register asked a coworker is this item can be returned. I said "I'm sure you could being that everyone is here returning items or sending items...plus I was here 2 minutes ago, so what is the issue." The manager stated that I could make the return as long as I had the receipt which I did. After all, I made the purchase 2 minutes ago. She rudely asked for my card and proceeded to make the transaction. This is where she wasted my time. She did not give me back the original receipt just the receipt for the return. When I asked for the original back she said that she needed it. What for?! I couldn't tell you. I politely said I brought other items which is reflected on the original receipt and I need it back. She goes "are you going to return those items?!" I said maybe I will, maybe I won't but you wouldn't know right?! Right! Neither will I...which is the whole point of having a receipt. At this point we are wasting time if you need the receipt so badly, go take a copy of it on the big copier behind you. She did and gave me the receipt back. That place is a hot mess! So disgustingly rude. I went in to drop off 2 returns for amazon and the gentleman behind the counter was so rude about the fact that I cannot wear a mask. I explained to him that I cannot wear a face mask because I have a medical condition and he told me that I need to go else where. After going back and forth I put my shirt over my face in front of him and he scanned my packages. The back and forth dialogue took longer than it did to scan my packages. And keep in mind I let 2 other people in the store while I waited outside for them to finish, before I went in without the mask. I will be calling ups to make them aware of the situation. He has been "doing this for 11 years" and "knows customer service" but before you get a hello you'll get barked at that you don't have whatever it is you need. Sorry I can't provide you with account numbers when my arms are full of equipment and I was told all we needed was the account holder's name. He reassured me I could speak to the store owner Joel and seemed to think he was untouchable. I was a manager by 17, and have launched three successful businesses by 26. I'm well versed in proper customer service and how to greet and assist clients. Rolling your eyes and heading to the back "till whenever I got my stuff together" isn't how it's done. read more

I am compelled to write this review based upon the only other review (as of 9/2/15) for this store. I can not stand reviews like this that based primarily upon a bunch of conjecture as this kind of information really helps no one. Please note, I am not opposed to opinions that aren't inline with my own, just statements that go beyond the realm of opinion and are presented as fact and are not backed up by any reliable/legitimate information. With regards to this store: I have had a UPS store box at this location for around 4 1/2 years and I've had nothing but excellent experiences with regards to both customer service and the handling of my packages. The employees go out of their way to help me when I need anything and while all the employees are courteous and friendly, some really go above and beyond and make it a pleasure to visit the store (which I do frequently as I send all of my mail and packages there). I do wish they kept slightly longer hours during the week since they open when most business open (which makes it difficult for those who work during normal business hours) and when factoring in long commute times on Long Island, 7pm can be cutting it close. Also, I generally don't purchase supplies here (with the exception of an occasional shipping envelope) unless absolutely necessary as I find the price for most items to be inflated. Finally, on the rare occasion when I've encountered an issue, it has been handled professionally and in a reasonable amount of time. With regards to the previous reviewers complaints, I cannot speak to the laws regarding sending packages with alcohol related content on the outside as I don't know the law and I personally have no reason to look up the regulations. However, I can speak to the topic of incredulous individuals...it is quite telling that the other reviewer didn't feel it necessary to actually confirm the regulations/law before trashing a business, especially since he isn't from NY and laws can vary by state. Instead, he decided to take the word of an individual who most likely does not work in NYS (I'm assuming based upon the statement that the irate reviewer was flying home somewhere) and who would not likely be aware of any particular state-specific laws, over the word of another individual instead of getting information from a legitimate source. It is hard to believe that someone who is so irate about this situation wouldn't actually spend a few minutes searching....unless it suited him to just accept that individual's opinion since it supports his complaints. In addition, what reason would the UPS store employee have to "fabricate" a lie in order to refuse to ship his package since the store makes money from shipping (retail shipping does cost more $ than what businesses pay to UPS) and if they're not making money, how is the store to stay in business? This assertion makes absolutely no sense. I do know that shipping alcohol to New York was restricted. I learned this when I wanted to purchase some wine from my favorite winery (which was out of state) a few years ago and was not able to because of New York State restrictions on the shipment of alcohol. However, this may have since changed. The point here? Before you present information that's not just your opinion as being legitimate in order to back up your scathing review, you have a responsibility (at least to the other users here since that's the point of this entire site) to support that content with something other than "he said she said". read more

He was very busy that morning but didn't skip a beat; attending to everyone who walked in the door with a smile and accommodating manner. Whenever I'm here to drop off a package, the wait is never long. A couple of times I actually didn't have tape as I was going to send a textbook in a box to Chegg. One time I was going to buy some packing tape. The clerk asked if I was buying tape so I could close the box. Without hesitation, she said that she would be happy to tape it up for me. In fact, whenever I don't tape it, they always tell me it isn't a problem for them. They would then print out the receipt and informed me that they don't keep track of the package at that location. So if I needed to track it, to refer to the receipt. read more
