Extremely concerning experience with UPS…read more I was expecting a UPS delivery containing two MacBook Neo's and two Apple Magic Mice worth approximately $2,000. I was sitting inside my office when I received a notification stating the package had been delivered. According to UPS, it was "Received by: Chaparro" and delivered to my "front desk." Here's the problem. I never received the package. I never signed for it. Nobody walked into my office, nobody asked for me, and my office doesn't even have a front desk. I searched my entire office, asked every employee, and even walked door to door to neighboring businesses to see if it had been delivered to the wrong suite. Nobody had it. When I contacted UPS, I expected them to tell me the driver accidentally delivered it next door. Instead, I received one of the most unbelievable explanations I've ever heard from the Supervisor Darren. I was told the UPS driver claimed that while he was delivering my package, a man stepped out of a blue Nissan Altima or Maxima, walked up to him, showed identification with my last name, and the driver simply handed him my package. What makes this story even more unbelievable is that this driver delivers to my office approximately four times every week. He has delivered to me and my business countless times. He knows exactly who I am. I am a blonde woman, yet somehow I'm expected to believe that a driver who regularly delivers to my office handed my package to a random man standing outside instead of walking into my office to hand it directly to me. Then the driver documented the delivery as "Received by: Chaparro" and marked it as delivered to a front desk that doesn't even exist. None of that makes any sense. How did this random man supposedly know my expensive Apple package was arriving? How did he allegedly have identification with my last name? Why would a UPS driver hand over a $2,000 package to someone standing outside instead of bringing it into the business listed on the shipping label? Why was the delivery falsely documented as being made to a front desk that doesn't exist? To make matters even worse, when I told UPS I was contacting the police, I was encouraged not to and was instead told to "just file a claim" because I'd eventually get my money back. This isn't just about getting reimbursed. Someone walked away with approximately $2,000 worth of electronics that were supposed to be for my children as they prepared to return to school. What should have been an exciting moment for my family turned into an absolute nightmare because of UPS's handling of this delivery. Whether this was gross negligence or something more, I don't know. That's why I filed a police report and opened an investigation. But what I do know is that customers deserve answers, and this is not the level of security or accountability anyone should expect from a company trusted with valuable deliveries. Until UPS can explain how a package addressed to me was allegedly handed to a random man outside by a driver who delivers to my office four times a week, I have absolutely no confidence in their delivery procedures. I sincerely hope nobody else has to experience what my family has gone through.
