Basically, having to choose a printer when already on a tight timeline meant turning to the internet for some recommendations which then led me to Halcraft on Robie. In the short few days that they worked on my project, there was just so much right going on. I could immediately tell they were happy to work to complement my style instead of forcing me into theirs. When I called, they called back. When I switched to email, they switched to email. When I threw a whole bunch of details their way in no particular order, they took what they needed out of it instead of insisting I fill out a form or speak their language. It made getting through the initial details a breeze and easily days faster than any other shop I've worked with. Plus, they weren't afraid to help me make choices when I really didn't know what I was talking about. Other shops have insisted I come in to leaf through their stock and make a choice - Halcraft asked what I was using each piece for and made recommendations for each based on my budget, saving me money wherever possible (i.e. 'you know you can save $80 by doing the cuts yourself, right?'). Proofs came a day or two later than I expected but then my entire job was finished the next day rather than a portion and the rest following the next week which is what I was told would happen. It was a nice touch to have that happy surprise to finish off the week!

Halcraft not only gave me the most reasonable quote but also assured me that they could accommodate my quick turn around time. On Monday, I emailed them my file. On Tuesday, they sent me a proof for approval. And on Wednesday about noon, I received word that my job was ready. Not only is the staff friendly and efficient - more about that in a minute - they are so helpful. I wanted to choose a new look but didn't want to invest in a graphic designer. I was shown a huge book of samples to choose from and within no time, we designed a card together. By the next day my cards were ready and what is even more spectacular, they marked the date on the box. I asked why and the answer - so when you want to reorder, just tell us the date you had them originally printed and we'll get reprint from the original order. You can't get better service than that!

The store also has a small selection of stationery supplies, a large banner printing machine, fax services, postal boxes, and all the shipping services of UPS. They also sell packing materials and boxes, and will pack anything you might need sent, no matter how odd the shape! The best part of the store is the staff: Kim, the owner and her staff are extraordinarily helpful, supportive, smart and even funny, when appropriate :) I would find it very hard to run a business in Lunenburg without this store.

I didn't ask for a refund, I just shared my experience and how it made me feel, suggested how this experience could be improved for future customers, and mentioned that I would be writing this review should I not receive an appropriate response. The response from the GM was defensive and unapologetic unless you count "I'm sorry you didn't understand our business practices" as an apology. After reading the other Google reviews I now understand this is just how Allen conducts business. Take it or leave it. If you value customer care and rely on in-store experts for advice before making purchases, I don't recommend shopping here.

Their prices are pretty good actually, probably better than the FedEx place. However, the expertise isn't always there in the staff and there has been more than one occasion where I've stood waiting for service for a long time without receiving any acknowledgement. Still, the quality of the work is almost always there. And, again, the prices are pretty good. Would I recommend them for large, complex, crucial orders? Probably not. But for school assignments and some minor jobs, they do very well.

Forking over hundreds of dollars to these guys just for readings that you should be able to find online, just stings a little too much... I've always found the people working at Campus Copy to be pretty disagreeable and ill-disposed to service as well: 'Uhh, you want it stapled too?' ... 'mmm, yeah, is that going to cost me more?' cue: vacant, irritable stare. These guys are more or less efficient though, and can get you that essay bound in a quick hurry if necessary.

Over the phone and by email, Shelley handled all of my long-distance requests (I was in the States and my daughter is in Halifax) with patience, and always in a timely manner. She accommodated our need for overnight storage, and worked with our timing to get out of one place and into another. The day of the move, which happened during the NS wildfires, the company's timing got a little derailed, through no fault of their own. When that impacted my daughter's move, they proactively waived some fees as compensation, and worked with her to make sure that they could still get the move done in time. Shelley sent over an extra mover, and when we suggested doing the move right into the new place, without the overnight hold (we were able to get her into the new place earlier than expected!), Shelley rolled with the punches, and pivoted to execute the move in one day. The extra mover (which we were not charged for) and the whole crew worked quickly but carefully, and got the move done in record time. Overall, it was tremendous value for what we got, and the move was done faster than we expected! Being far away was stressful for me, but Shelley made sure that everything ran smoothly and that my daughter was taken care of. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant for your local move. We can't thank Shelley and the crew enough for the care they took with our daughter's move!
