If you hire this company, consider yourself warned…read more Not only did they charge me more than double the estimated cost to move my 1 bedroom apartment, they also broke my dishes, put black marks all over my white furniture and damaged the screen on my brand new TV. At one point the movers (whom I were paying hourly) were pushing each other around in a shopping cart in the parking lot of my building. I guess this is why it took them 8 hours to move a 1 bedroom apartment. I was told 3.5 hours MAX when I called them for a quote. When I sent a message to the "manager" regarding my TV that I'd discovered was broken, he didn't bother to respond and blocked my number. Only after texting him pictures and videos of my damaged property, and his employees rolling around in shopping carts and playing on their cell phones with their feet up from a friend's number did he respond. He claimed to have fired the employees responsible and agreed to compensate me $200 and asked that I take my review down. I accepted and agreed realizing that's the best I would get out of them. Later, while unpacking, I kept finding more and more broken items. My decorative tree has two broken legs. It's garbage now. The lights on my Christmas tree don't work because the movers were throwing it around. A piece of my art work is also smashed. As the icing on the cake, I also discovered SOMEONE ELSE'S items from another move mixed in with my stuff. I now have someone else's candles, kettle, broom and curtains. RUN from this company and save yourselves the money and hassle. Extremely unprofessional. Add: They didn't have any bedroom furniture to move because I had that delivered a week prior. No bed, mattress, dresser, night stands, etc. but it still took them 8 HOURS.

The movers showed up on time and my daughter said they were very friendly, professional and hard working. I had some concern not being there in person but all went very well. Shelley and the crew from Gentle Giant Movers did a phenomenal job on my daughter's local move in…read moreHalifax. Over the phone and by email, Shelley handled all of my long-distance requests (I was in the States and my daughter is in Halifax) with patience, and always in a timely manner. She accommodated our need for overnight storage, and worked with our timing to get out of one place and into another. The day of the move, which happened during the NS wildfires, the company's timing got a little derailed, through no fault of their own. When that impacted my daughter's move, they proactively waived some fees as compensation, and worked with her to make sure that they could still get the move done in time. Shelley sent over an extra mover, and when we suggested doing the move right into the new place, without the overnight hold (we were able to get her into the new place earlier than expected!), Shelley rolled with the punches, and pivoted to execute the move in one day. The extra mover (which we were not charged for) and the whole crew worked quickly but carefully, and got the move done in record time. Overall, it was tremendous value for what we got, and the move was done faster than we expected! Being far away was stressful for me, but Shelley made sure that everything ran smoothly and that my daughter was taken care of. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant for your local move.
