Over the phone and by email, Shelley handled all of my long-distance requests (I was in the States and my daughter is in Halifax) with patience, and always in a timely manner. She accommodated our need for overnight storage, and worked with our timing to get out of one place and into another. The day of the move, which happened during the NS wildfires, the company's timing got a little derailed, through no fault of their own. When that impacted my daughter's move, they proactively waived some fees as compensation, and worked with her to make sure that they could still get the move done in time. Shelley sent over an extra mover, and when we suggested doing the move right into the new place, without the overnight hold (we were able to get her into the new place earlier than expected!), Shelley rolled with the punches, and pivoted to execute the move in one day. The extra mover (which we were not charged for) and the whole crew worked quickly but carefully, and got the move done in record time. Overall, it was tremendous value for what we got, and the move was done faster than we expected! Being far away was stressful for me, but Shelley made sure that everything ran smoothly and that my daughter was taken care of. I would highly recommend Gentle Giant for your local move. Jeff was very quick to respond via email and gave a very good price to move the appliances and even followed up with me to adjust their schedule to a day to fit my move window and meet my budget. My appliances were wrapped up in heavy moving blankets and secured in their truck. They even rolled out the red carpet (literally) to ensure that my new floors and hardwood stairs would not be damaged while moving the appliances to their locations on different floors. They were friendly and polite. In short, I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience with them.

Once again- the bare bones details: Booked Able because I moved a lot and I like to move my custom around, share the wealth as it were. One of the movers saw a doorstop from my previous movers and immediately was offended. So, here's the the thing. I booked them for a small truck move. I explained the situation and location. They agreed to come with the correct truck for noon. I started calling them at 4 pm to ask why the truck wasn't there yet. The owner let all my calls go through to voice mail. At 5 pm they showed up with a huge moving truck, completely inappropriate for the tight quarters. I'm on the corner of two busy streets. No place to park so they all left and returned over an hour later with another big truck. I'd been told they had a smaller one they could use. Parking was still a problem, so we were discussing if they could park in front of the dry hydrant - I agreed to pay the ticket if they got one. While we were discussing, one of the movers saw a woman he knew, and they started heading over to Alderney landing for a coffee. At that point I did raise my voice to reach him, asking where he was going. He yelled back he was going to take a crap and that he didn't want to crap in my apartment. This was in the middle of Portland and Alderney drive. I have to admit that by this time I was losing it. I have MS and am disabled and the stress and long standing was exhausting me. The boss then called me to tell me his mover was offended and would no longer move me because "I sweared at him". I admit, I may have said 'where the hell are you going' but it was already 6 pm and absolutely nothing had been moved My son and I decided that was the end, being told off by the boss when the service was so impossible. We fired them at this point, my son rented a truck from Enterprise and we and my landlady (God bless her) moved us across the street. It took us until midnight and I had to rest for a week afterwards. They didn't even offer to carry things over. It was just across the street!!! I felt the one mover didn't like the look of the move after what was admittedly a long day and deliberately made it impossible. I found no support at all from the boss of Able Movers and to see his response to my previous review, he remains the same. He did not listen to my side of the story at all, and never responded to my phone calls- in fact only talked to me when he called me to tell me off for MY behaviour!!! Just to give you a perspective, I am 5' tall, 61, and disabled. They treated me horribly all day. I will never use these movers again and hope they change their attitude for others.

Muden's was able to store our stuff for one week until our apartment in Halifax was ready and the crew that showed up (early again) was just as friendly and professional as the crew in Ontario and quickly unloaded the truck. Everything arrived safe and undamaged. The best part was that the final price was less than the quote. Exceptional service. They exceeded our expectations. The mover used the lift gate, which is for heavy objects, instead of the ramp. This is inefficient and lazy to be honest. They also mixed up our stuff with another couple who, as luck would have it, were moving to the same building as us. I was able to run their stuff to their apartment after the move. I also felt compelled to ask if they needed help lifting larger objects. The movers looked like they were struggling and might drop something. (Note, I am almost 60 years old and I had moved all the items myself with the help of my family to the storage locker). My fears came true and one of the movers did drop 3 large boxes. Our apartment is in a building with a driveway that slopes upward at a fairly steep angle and angles down once past the entrance. The driver parked on the brow of the hill, the top part if you like. I drove truck for years, and anyone who does, knows that you park at the base of the hill. This shortens the distance you have to lift something. Again it comes down to unprofessionalism and laziness. I just wanted the move to be over and said nothing. We were almost finished when one of the movers dropped three large boxes. They had been stacked on top of a double file cabinet which meant that the boxes dropped from a height of 3 - 4 feet. One contained our dishes, another contained a pinwheel crystal bowl and other pieces. The reason it was dropped was because of the position of the truck. The movers were again using the lift gate instead of the ramp. When the lift platform touched the ground, the back part of the platform stopped and the front part continued down because of the slope. This caused the load to lunge forward and the mover lost control. I was in the lobby with two of the movers and we all witnessed it. They took the boxes upstairs and went through them in the presence of my wife. They assured my wife that the company would pay for the damages. This did not happen. The last communication I heard was "you packed it, you pay for it." As bad as this sounds there is still more. Somewhere during our move I misplaced some valuables. LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR, I AM NOT ACCUSING ANYONE OF ANY WRONGDOING. In the process of trying to track down my valuables I got to review the security footage of our move. It made me realize just how unprofessional was this company . Firstly, they did not use the ramp which is inefficient and lazy. My son and I were helping and many times we put something on the truck, return to the locker and was back at the truck before the next mover returned. I also witnessed the largest mover bring only an end table that my youngest grandchild could carry. (picture attached) They also often took things off the truck after it had already been loaded. The employee who worked at the storage place commented on what we saw. To paraphrase, they said that they had been working in the storage industry for a long time and our movers were the worst they had ever seen. I agree! They need to find a new occupation and leave the moving of people's precious things to the professionals.

For around $85 including tax, I got 25 large green bins, two tall cardboard wardrobes and a dolly. It. Was. Amazing. The wardrobes meant that I took my clothes out of the closet and hung them in a protected box, and then put them in their new closet. So easy! And the boxes fit tons of stuff. It was such a relief to not have to go out searching for clean, large cardboard boxes and then spend time putting them together and disposing of them. Plus, Frogboxes are reusable and thus better for the planet! On top of the convenience, the service was fantastic. Both my fiancee and I had ordered boxes, and when we unpacked them a couple days early we gave Frogbox a call and they were happy to swing by to pick them up. That was a major, major help in getting our new apartment to feel like home as quickly as possible.

While the NSLC can often hook you up, the boxes are small and it's such a pain in the ass to take time out of your day to go on the hunt. Enter Frogbox. They will drop off and pick-up these big beautiful green plastic boxes. They're stackable, sturdy and for the tree-hugger in me, I dig that they're reusable. They also sell packaging material that is recyclable as well. Which, if you've moved with your stuff packed up in newspaper before, and then had to clean everything after moving, their packing paper is like a special miracle. I would not hesitate to go with these guys again the next time I move, although I hope it's not for a very long time....

I only needed 2 guys and truck, & was only $88. plus 1 small truck fee & smaller deposit than others (was only $25 vs. $50 (had I used "Xtreme Movers" who conned me out of my $50 deposit!!) but not Hero Movers. They are hard working, honest men. I'll add that I had quite more than I had thought in boxes & bags, regardless they did a speedy, DAMAGE FREE move & it was a VERY muggy day on Friday 24th of June, but it didn't slow down either of the 2 gentlemen. I told them to take it easy/have breaks, but they were all business. I'm a very picky person as well, so you can take what I say to the bank I'm a very satisfied customer & highly recommend Hero movers to everyone!
