I walked into the UPS store on 162 Elmora Ave in Elizabeth New Jersey 07202. I wanted purchase a box big enough for my PS5 Gaming System. I spoke to the lady and she provided me with a 18x18 box. I walked to my car outside of the location and loaded the box with the game. I packed the box with bubble wrap, brown and black tissue paper all around the game for extra protection. Upon entering the location a caucasian male with a bold head named Ben, called me to approach the counter. I asked him, can he please secure the box with extra tape and he did so. As he scanned the package into the system, I asked him for a magic marker so that I can put the word FRAGILE on the box. He informed me that he had stickers. I said OK. Ben then asked me what was inside of the box and I told him a fragile, delicate item. He asked me again for the contents, I told him it's none of his business what I am shipping. It's a fragile item. Ben then told me he had the right to open my box because I was shipping through his store and he wanted to be sure that I wasn't shipping anything illegal. Highly offended, I became annoyed. I told Ben that he has no rights to view what's in my package, as I assured him again that there was nothing illegal inside of my box. Ben then told me he wanted to open my package to make sure there was nothing illegal inside and to be sure it was bubbled wrapped correctly. Again, I told him he doesn't have that right to open my package. I became very irritated. BEN then informed me, what is the big deal of him opening my box, if I'm not doing anything illegal? Ben stated this is his UPS store and he could do what he pleases. BEN, very adamant about opening my box, and questioning me about the contents. BEN then OPENED my package, once he open my package, I was pissed off, as he then tries to manipulate me into believing he wanted to make sure it was bubble taped properly. Being that now my box is open, I didn't want to hear his reasonings. After viewing that my package was a game, Ben became annoyed that I was annoyed then told me because I wouldn't listen to him that he's not going to secure shit and if my package gets damaged O WELL. Ben then taped my box back closed and sat it on the floor. We cursed at each other back and fourth in front of other customers as BEN told me to get the fuck out of his store and to go somewhere else. I told him, I will go where ever I want to. I allowed Ben to scan the package in as he placed it on the floor. I then exited the location. Upon talking to customer service and realizing that BEN had no right to open my package, I went back into the store to retrieve it while on the phone with customer service. I filed a complaint against BEN for opening my package and using offensive language because I didn't want to hear his reasonings for opening my package. At any point Ben is suppose to maintain his professionalism regardless of the aggravations of customers. He is not to invade the privacy of anyone. What did i do to make him assume, I was shipping something illegal. Ben treated me as if I was a criminal, and was doing something wrong by not wanting to disclose what was in my box. This offensive, abusive behavior is unacceptable for anyone trying to deliver a package. It's a violation of my rights and privacy. read more

The Caucasian man who manages the store is extremely rude arrogant and unprofessional! He tries to humiliate customers and the way he speaks is extremely condescending ! He belittles the clients and treats them like they are unintelligent! He doesn't deserve business from the community because I've noticed that he chooses who he can speak to in that way!!!!! read more

Major shout out to Ben!! I went in last week with some school work I needed to print and scan. I was feeling really sick but needed to get it done. Ben was ever so patient and kind . He kept reprinting the pages I needed as I messed up. They even gave me a space to work and Ben brought me the papers as I needed them. The scanner kept playing up because I had different size pages but Ben kept steady ... with out even a hint off agitation . Thank you Ben Thank you UPS store. read more

What a rip off! I had to pay for a bag to return a book which was fine but the cashier couldn't scan the label slip I provided and when I showed her the barcode on my phone she wanted me to print it out on the computer, so I did. What I didn't know was that she would print a label sticker out twice and charge me for a print from file and copies which they charged me both for! If she told me before hand I would have just came back with a new slip. Never coming back here again. At least tell customers what you are charging them before hand. Update: To the store owner. It's the poor communication I have a problem with. I understand you are a business owner, however most businesses have the courtesy of specifying what is being charged before a transaction is initiated. If not, it causes conflicts. Even when I go to a post office they specify each charge to me, in total, "verbally". I did not ask for a label, printing service or copies nor was I offered verbally. Let me ask you how does "assuming" anything make this easier Someone telling me to log in onto an unknown computer does not alert me of what's going on. If they can not read the form, let me know beforehand and turn me down or "offer" to print it out for me with a price intact and I'll be glad to pay. The lack of communication to guide me through the whole process is what stuns me. I'm just standing there thinking "what's going on?" "What's taking so long?" No one said anything. Their just stone. The bag is fine and I wouldn't even mind paying for the printing, I really don't care if they charged me 20 dollars for it! Just let someone know! In fact it's not even about the money. What I define as a "rip off" is that not notifying me about the cost of everything separately and not telling me "verbally" makes it a "rip off" in my book. Let me ask you something, how would you like it if you did business with a store and no one tells you the cost of each product or item and they just threw into your basket? Not everyone thinks of a dollar as just a dollar. I apologize if you feel this way and have this mindset that it's a poor reason for me to give you one star, but by trying to shame me for just "4 dollars", "a free service offered" and that I should be at fault here for not alerting you or someone at the counter is no way of handling any situation. At least be a good sport about this. Word of advice, it's also not professional to announce your employees name on social platforms. I also honestly believe you cannot help me in anyway. Even if I did requested for you, you could just feed me a list of reasons such as policies and regulation and still favor the employees more. It's time that I don't have anymore to give to your establishment. The way your employees presents themselves to me with minimal communication and poor customer service is first impression ( which is how I rate my stars). The way you're responding back to me as an owner on here, because of my "one star" review seconds that impression. Instead of being so critical, perhaps you can respond back to me in a more pleasant approach and then maybe I'll reconsider. read more

This UPS store offers EXCELLENT service. The staff is honest, friendly, and prompt. Ben is the man! I ship my packages to this location and have never had a problem at all of any kind.
