If you are on Gaycation or from the city, you will always find something to keep you amused. The bar has recently had a face lift, long over due if you ask me. The atmosphere in here is unrivaled. Union Street has some of the biggest names on the drag circuit in Ireland (Tina Leggs Tantrum, Trudy Scrumptious & Glitzy Glamour). Each queen has a night or two of their own and you are guaranteed a laugh. The most entertaining days are Saturday afternoons and Sunday nights. Saturday afternoons in Union Street is Tina's T-Oke & has become Hen Party central. Good luck getting a seat or a table to eat food as the restaurant is usually booked out weeks in advance. Don't let the Hen party comment put you off. Tina Leggs Tantrum hosts and keeps them in check and still tailors her show for the gay collective. Sunday nights are the biggest gay-fest with the Famous Sunday Bingo Show. Join Tina Leggs Tantrum and guests on stage to enjoy cabaret & bingo. For any first time people attending its important to be open minded, the content is meant to be funny and close to the bone. Expect to struggle to get a seat as the die hard fans will queue religiously from 7:45pm on wards at the entrance to the Shoe Factory (entrance through Union Street Bar) just to get a seat. This is a great spot for gay day/nightlife in the heart of the city centre There is something on most evenings from Karaoke to Bingo and always plenty of drink offers The new roof terrace is amazing for day drinking in the sun and has its own bar which means you need to go in and out to get your drinks which is a bonus Saturday afternoons get packed here for karaoke but be forewarned it is usually full of large parties of women out for a significant birthday celebration or hen, so if your hitting the scene on a Saturday afternoon to find some love you might want to try elsewhere! Went along to Union Street with some friends on Saturday night. I am truly shocked that they allowed the place to be open in the state it was in. One of the toilets was broken and RAW SEWAGE was leaking through the ceiling and dripping down the wall in the room below (the main bar!) Absolutely disgusting! All in all, the place was generally grimy, the drinks were expensive, and the clientele were rough to say the least. The one saving grace were the staff who worked hard and were friendly. Suffice to say that's my curiosity satisfied, I won't be back! read more

Attended this bar last night and had a great time. Good drink offer with 2 bottles of beer for £6.00. Great friendly atmosphere and always excellent for entertainment with drag performances every other night and the famous Sunday bingo show. Would recommend anyone to visit this bar if you are looking a night fulled with laughter! read more

Love Union street! Great (cheesy pop) music in a lively upbeat atmosphere..what more could you ask for. Union street hold different events daily throughout the week from quiz shows to karaoke! Saturday's Tranaoke is always a great laugh with Tina legs. If you have never experienced it before make sure u do! Bit of advice though is to get down extremely early as the place is always jam packed. One of Belfast's best known and most loved bars in Belfast's growing and vibrant gay and lesbian scene, Union Street is a brilliantly welcoming and fun place to head out for a big night out with a group of people, but maybe not the best if you want a quiet pint. The music is usually a bit mainstream for my taste but even hardened aleternative music fans like me have to just let it go and hit the dancefloor for some show tunes and a bit of a sing-a-long. You are almost guaranteed to have a good time here, as long as you allow yourself to. Despite being a big hit with Belfast's gay community, all are welcome here as long as you have a liberal, laid back attitude to how other people choose to live their lives. Drag Queen Bingo anyone? Yeah, thought so. This bar is really popular with Belfast's growing gay scene, and with good reason. With entertainment on most nights, and half price entry into the Kremlin for those who want to party on to the wee small hours on a Saturday, this is a bar that understands its customers. It gets really busy, so most nights it's standing room only, which can get annoying when all you want to do is find a route to the bathroom, but it's got a good vibe about it, so it's hard to be too critical! read more

Went on Sunday night for the bingo, had an amazing night. Went for happy hour between 8-9pm, £2.50 on selected drinks Then an amazing show put on by some talented people. There is always something going on in Union Street! Its a fab gay bar which never fails to entertain its customers. A crown of us from work popped in one evening with two friends who insisted this place was the best thing since sliced bread, both almost part of the furniture in here. We got a table easily enough being a Wednesday evening and were treated to karaoke hosted by a drag queen, it was great fun and even though the majority of us were straight we didn't feel like we were intruding and had a great time. Some of the guys actually stuck out like sore thumbs which made it quite funny too. A great place with loads going on and they serve food too which I hear is pretty top notch! read more

This bar has been pretty well reviewed already so I can only share my own experiences here which are mostly top notch. I come here quite regularly for a drink or two before I head home on the bus and generally I've found all the staff to be pleasant and good fun. It's nice to se the effort some of them make to remember you or whatever you drink, though I don't know if it's a good thing that staff know your regular tipple! It's a good place to catch up with old friends or grab a nice bite of lunch or dinner. The food here is usually really tasty. I visited a week or two ago with some friends and we had; fish & chips, steak sandwich and chicken wrap. All the meals were lovely and the bill came to a very reasonable £35 for all three of us including a few drinks as well. I've tried a number of things on the menu and I love the way they name some of their dishes after staff. The bar gets VERY busy at the weekends so if you're looking for a quiet dink then I wouldn't recommend here but come any other time and you'll find top quality service, nice surroundings and friendly staff. read more

The evening started of well but ended with me feeling disgusted Drag artists having a shocking sense of humour yes fine but to insult vulnerable adults is an absolute disgrace. Personal information about me was gathered in a devious way they came across so friendly and then for this information to be protected on stage in such a distasteful manner is beyond me. Calling me insulting names is one thing but to call the people I support the same name is unforgiveable. I have tried to contract manager directly but got told no one was available. I am passionate about the company I work for and the people I support so this place is a big let down to the gay community!!!!! read more

I have only ever visited the Union Street Bar for lunch and was very impressed with the quality and price of the food and I seem to remember thinking the ladies loos were great too! The service, however, was a bit surly. We had to complain about something not arriving and this didn't go down too well with the waiter. I used to like Union Street. Until tonight. We went round for a quiet drink after work. The barman who came to serve us was a friend of my friend's (who I was with) ex. He said to my friend, "I know you're over 18, but she needs to have ID to be in here." He didn't even look at me as he said it, so it was clearly meant to be a dig at my friend over what history there is there. I go to Union Street at least one a month and told him I was only going to have a coke, but he said it didn't matter-I could not stay in the pub without ID. At this point, it became clear that this was a spiteful attack, so we left and rang the pub and asked to be put through to management. Upon being put through to the manager, after explaining the situation, she said she was very sorry that it had happened but that the staff member in question was one of her most polite and that it totally at his discretion not to serve us. By this point, my blood pressure was at dangerous levels; how can a staff member be allowed to treat customers so badly because of some bizarre personal grudge? And get away with it? I will never step foot in Union St or its' adjoining pubs again, but I will be blogging, Tweeting, Facebooking and writing about the experience in my newspaper column and encourage punters to stay away. Absolutely horrific behaviour. The place deserves to be shut down if it lets its customers be treated like this. read more

This place never stops. Always guaranteed for a good night out because the company is always great. I've had many evenings out here, just having a 'quiet one' in the bar (if a drink in Union St can ever be called quiet) or bopping away to the Sunday Night Karaoke and Bingo Show, hosted by the gorgeous drag Queen Portia Di Monte. The heart of the gay/bi-sexual scene in Belfast, and attached to the main nightclub The Kremlin, Union Street has a lovely welcoming, open vibe, and straight people, in my experience are always welcome. The music varies from pop and rock, r'n'b - to show tunes....if you're lucky enough to catch one of the hilarious lip-syncing drag acts. I've never laughed so much, honestly. They have great drink offers too - which are so cheap, can have you on your ear in no time if you take advantage of them. There is plenty of seating and a wee area to dance in. The bar staff are helpful and don't play favourites and you never wait too long at the bar to be served. The loos are always clean and well maintained too. I've yet to sample the food, which I've heard is great, but it's just another reason to go back I suppose! read more

This was our first time here and it was enjoyable. We hope to return. We were invited to a post Pride party. The plan was for the six of us to get there by 4pm to hear Barbera Bryceland. We got there 15 minutes late but the door into the stage area still wasn't opened and the place was packed out. Great bar area. There were plenty of friendly bar staff about, so getting drinks was pretty quick. There was a deal with prosecco at £12 a bottle and it was a popular offer. The stage door was open by 4:30 and the semi dark stage area was just crammed with Babs fans within seconds. Ms B came on stage about 4:40 and she was electric from the first song. I didn't expect her to still be singing power ballads three hours later without missing a note. She did take a short break about 6:30, but I reckon she was on stage easily over 3 hours and it was one helluva party with some great banter between the Babs lovers front of stage and the lady herself. She was certainly enjoying herself. So after Babs ended we had to decide what to do next. There was a drag act planned for later that night and bingo but two of our party had tickets for a Kate Bush night at the Black Box. Now I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm not gay and I'm not a big fan of drag queens. I'm not a big fan of bingo or Kate Bush either but Kate won. As we left the party the place was becoming even busier. We had the back of our hands stamped as we left, we were told it was to make it easier to regain entry if we decided to return later. It certainly wasn't a pleasant night outside as we left as it was cold and rainy. The things I'm prepared to do to miss bingo and a drag queen. read more

I was in this little place for the first time about three days ago to meet a friend after work (I had had a long, stressful yet productive and fruitful day in the paper and needed to lay the cards on the table and talk about my day) We called over here as it's essentially across the road from the paper and there's a limited selection of bars in the area. The Union is a gay bar, situated among a burgeoning number of bars and clubs in the area such as the hugely popular Kremlin nightclub. I popped in for a quick pint, managed to use my card to get cashback as I had nought on me. The place is nice inside, welcoming and well structured and lit. I sat for maybe half an hour sipping as I went, soaking up the day and reminiscing. I'll probably be back down the line after another busy day. read more

Terrible experience, won't be back! Myself and 2 friends went here for food on 11/11/14. We arrived around 4:20. The waitress (who I'm told was called Natasha) came down at 4:30 and asked if we were ready to order, we said no, to which she replied "Well the restaurant closes at 5 and the chef usually finishes at 4:50", and she tapped her watch and walked away. She returned and took our orders. A few minutes later she returned to say that one of the mains (lamb shank) was sold out, so my friend then chose salmon as a replacement. A further few minutes later she returned again to say another of the mains (a burger) was also sold out, so my friend then chose chicken goujons. We weren't offered drinks and had to go to the bar ourselves to get them. About 30mins later, 2 of our main courses arrived, and we were told that the chef thought we ordered 2 chicken burgers, so my friend would have to wait while he now prepared and cooked the goujons! When everyone's food eventually arrived, it was NOT worth the wait. The salmon was well overdone, and the quality of the chicken was very poor. Once we were finished, a different waitress came to clear our table (not sure on her name, but she had long wavy hair tied back in a ponytail). She was very pleasant and asked how our food was, when we expressed our disappointment. She returned a few minutes later to ask if we would like to speak to a manager as she wasn't in any position of authority to help us, and we said yes. The manager was very helpful (I'm told she was called Tanya), and she accepted our complaint and didn't charge us for the food. This was an extremely nice gesture, however due to the whole experience, we won't be back. read more

Me and my husband went up to Belfast for few days over Halloween. Was there on Halloween night and went to the bar when we went in. Bar lady dressed as a cat completely ignored both of us while trying to get served. Was not busy and Once everyone around the bar was served she went to speak with her fellow staff members behind the bar instead of serving us. I made eye contact several times and she just wouldn't come over. Several people came up behind me after this and she came straight over and served them but continued to ignore us. We had to simply turn around and walk out. Went to the Maverick across the road. I would suggest non locals do not go here - They wont serve you and place is really not friendly. read more

A very funky yet relaxed restaurant with outstanding food and service. I had the rump of lamb which was a special of the day and it was succulent and full of flavor. Really enjoyed it and would recommend anyone visiting Belfast to give it a visit. read more

Decent wee Gay Bar, decent £2 drinks happy hour which is actually like two or three hours lol it's selected drinks only though so just the shit ones. Great Entertainment the Drag acts & other performers are hilarious lol Ive had some great nights here! I go a lot. Met some good friends here also. Only Downside is some of the Bar Staff can be quite lacking in people skills as are the bouncers but they're sort are always asshole. I have been told by one particular bouncer I'm not allowed in anymore, I asked him why he told me he'd speak to the manager it only seems to be when he's on I'm not allowed in having been there during the day for a few hours on two previous occasions. When I return later on around the time the bouncer comes on I'm turned away. He has not bothered to speak to the manager as she l ew nothing about it until I asked why I was not allowed in.
