Ate here for the first time this week. Been looking for a good spot between Canton and Alpharetta and this is it! The heated outdoor patio was a great environment. The food was amazing. The crispy outside on the fish sandwich was excellently prepared and the fries were homemade and done to perfection. The grilled salmon sandwich looked spectacular as well. Well, wow. Our friends introduced us to this gem. The restaurant is casual but has an elevated bohemian vibe. Service was quick and friendly. The wait staff held the door for us despite carrying a tray of drinks. The star though is the food. My husband got the schnitzel (served on cheese grits and smothered in a lemony arugula) it was amazing! I had the salmon but with fries. Truly delicious sandwich and hand cut fries, all delicious. Our friends say they've never gotten a bad meal there. That's something these days because restaurants can amaze you one day and disappoint you the next. I can't believe I haven't reviewed the spot yet. When we first moved to the area, we got takeout pizza a lot as we were getting settled in. Now we have most of the menu. My absolute favorite here is the quinoa cake appetizer. My vegetarian friend convince me to try it and now I have a hard time ordering anything else. The sandwiches at lunch are great, especially the chicken. The shrimp and grits is also one of my favorites. It is a smaller location and quite a few of the tables are on a covered patio or actually a few sitting outside the restaurant. It is casual and family friendly. The service can be hit or miss, but tends to be very attentive and friendly. They do have a small bar which tends to be crowded. Overall, highly recommend and you can be guaranteed you'll find a favorite dish here too. read more

What an unexpected treat! The vibe of the restaurant is very trendy and fun. The service staff is very attentive. We ordered the wings and they were outstanding. They also have a potato chip appetizer covered in blue cheese and bacon and it was very tasty as well. I ordered the Chicken schnitzel over cheese grits and wow it was delicious. The hanger steak was surprisingly tender and flavorful. Only negative was wide range of meat temp as in some pieces were medium rare and some well done. Overall it was delicious. The fries were hot and great flavor. Also, the salad that came with it was fresh and tasty. The shrimp and grits were just ok. Tasted more cheese and salt than needed. Also not as creamy as I expected. Good number of fresh tasting shrimp in the dish. The pizza for children was very good as the little guys enjoyed it. It's a quaint modernized farmhouse (sounds oxymoron, I know, but the inside has a new industrial feel to it, while the patio area overlooks pastoral Milton). Our server was a young lady, very calm, careful & collected, but we were also one of only a half a dozen tables, so that's probably why she didn't seem rushed. The weather was cooperative, unlike most almost summer days here in Georgia, so we sat on the patio. The fresh cut fries are good and crispy as per my request. My fried grouper sandwich was texturally on point with the fish cooked perfectly, however, it didn't have any personality other than the crunch of the batter and slaw...no salinity, no acidity, no sourness, no spiciness, nor sweetness. Come on chef! Give me some flavors to savor. Add some sesame oil to the slaw dressing, some peppadews, pickles, olives, or hot honey so that it's not just the creaminess of the mayonnaise that's pulling the slaw together. Season the flesh of your fish with some salt & aromatics (thyme, lemon, smoked paprika, etc) before battering it, or put some granulated garlic or onion in the batter itself. You're mostly there, but the sandwich as a whole lacks depth. Hopefully my critique will give you some ideas to breath a little more life into a decent dish and make it soar. A side of the road spot that gives old timey gas station vibes, but with way better food. The salmon BLT was huge - but I powered through nonetheless. The salmon was cooked to a perfect medium rare that I just couldn't stop stuffing my face! Kids pizza is huge. Way bigger than what a commercial personal pan would be (do they still make those?). The AC was on blast and my littlest complained, but I like the cold so it didn't bother me, I need a cool breeze while I work up a sweat gorging myself. The Union has been one of my favorite local Milton restaurants since I was a teenager! I've literally never had bad service or a bad meal here, and this spot is also a part of the Sedgwick Restaurant Group. The aesthetic is my favorite because it's super groovy and 70s inspired - everything from the wall decor to the lighting fixtures. Very intentional which I appreciate! My absolute favorite menu items: Grandma Sedgwick's Spaghetti, Kung Pao Chicken Bowl, and the Chicken Schnitzel (I order this almost every time I come). If you save room for dessert- which you should - I highly recommend Coffee & Doughnuts which comes with New Orleans style powdered sugar and cinnamon doughnuts with espresso chocolate chip ice cream. The Union Restaurant has to be my favorite restaurant to date. Every time we visit, it is exactly the same, pure perfection. Whether you are getting an appetizer or a full meal, it will not disappoint. I really find it hard to order something different each time. Most days, I order the curried chicken bowl because it is just that darn good. My hubby bounces between the burgers, chicken sandwich or the tasty steak and frites. Everything is good though. The Chicken Parmesan and roasted chicken is out of this world. We bring friends and family every time they visit. Always a home run when we come. The free spirit cozy atmosphere is great too. The location is great. It's tucked away in a rural area, pretty much all by itself. A nice little cottage feel with an outdoor walk up bar and outdoor seating/tables. The inside has a loud diner feel to it mixed with a rustic mountain lodge feel. The most overpowering smell is burgers. The service was ok. We went when they were busy, but got a table right away. We were sat but it seemed that we were t assigned a waiter right away because the waiter in our area served two other tables that were sat after us, and after they had out their food orders in another waiter frantically appeared to take our drink order, as if we had been forgotten. But from then on out the service was attentive and smooth. Drinks only took 1-2 minutes after order, and food 5-10, with plenty of check ins to see if we needed anything. For drinks, I started with the Double Barrel Skinny Margarita with salted rim. It was quite strong, but mixed just right, with plenty of tart and savoriness. The food was good. I read another review that said it was as good or less then the quality of just cooking at home. As someone who cooks at home almost nightly, and can make some pretty tasty dishes, I would have to disagree. We ordered the Chicken Schnitzel and the Kung Pao Chicken. I saw another review where the Schnitzel had been over cooked, but I had no such experience. It was seasoned and cooked just right, and the cheddar grits were nice and creamy. The kung pao chicken was cooked and served perfectly. The waiter warned that it was a bit spicy for some people, but I would not say it was overly spicy. Lastly for dessert we had the Vanilla Creme Brûlée, which was fantastic. But as per usual with this dish, I just can't get enough. It was portioned proportionately, but I feel like I could get away eating one on my own. If you're like me and you have a date who wants one as well, I'd get two. Hope you all enjoy. The service is wonderful but the food isn't great. Hubs and I decided to try The Union for date night one weekend. I've driven past this restaurant several times and it's always packed, so I was excited to try. They don't take reservations, but the wait wasn't long. We sat the outdoor bar and ordered drinks while waiting. I had a spicy margarita and my husband had a beer. We were called by the hostess shortly after receiving our drinks. The interior decor is fun the vibe is laidback. We ordered the following: Ahi poke $14.50 Side caesar salads Jay's shrimp & grits $19.75 Catch of the day Coffee and donuts $7.75 The best part of the meal was the app, ahi poke. We also enjoyed the caesar salad. I'm sad to say that the rest was disappointing. The catch of the day was scallops on a bed of corn with thinly sliced fried potatoes. I've noticed that this is a dish they bring back every now and then. I felt like they just threw random ingredients together. The scallops were cooked well, though. My husband didn't love his shrimp & grits either and thought it had a strong raw bell pepper taste. He didn't finish it. I love coffee and donuts, so we had to order this dessert. The coffee part is coffee ice cream and the donuts are actually beignets. They ran out of coffee ice cream that evening so we were served with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be back. There are plenty of great restaurant options in and around Milton. read more

I got in seeing tons of wine. Ambience is like a chill cafe. But a restaurant, it kinda seemed like a Boy Scout group would go there to celebrate I don't know, making fire. There's hundreds on fine bottles at the beginning. Server was nice and service was quick. I got a plain burger and Mac and cheese jalapeños. I don't know how, but they ruined the Mac and cheese and the jalapeño made it a spicy terrible plate.the burger was pretty raw, more raw than medium rare.and the cheese was everywhere. A plain burger was messy. It is bad. The bread was the only good thing on the burger. I would rate this a 1.2 but I'm rounding it up to 2 to be nice. read more

I love this place, my wonderful mother recommended it to me! And you know what they say, Mother knows best! I'm a very healthy but has to be tasty kind of gal and I absolutely love this place! The Black Bean Quinoa burger is honestly so damn delicious! I may eat healthy, but we're in the south so don't get me wrong but I don't usually go out of my way to order a plant based burger when I can make it at home... however, I find myself time and again craving for this burger and their awesome steak frites. Today was the yummy burger! Great- the burger, obviously an incredible choice! They make it themselves in the kitchen and then have a good portion of the patty as well! And the view sitting outside on a sunny day does wonders on the eyes Good- I like to order the sautéed beans, as much as I admire them, I feel like they always need a touch more of seasoning. Meh- I prefer to order my burger with raw onion instead of the automatic caramalized onions that it comes with. This is just because, to me, it feels like they're is not enough stability in the burger and feels too soft without the raw onion. Note to the restaurant: PLEASE bring in sweet potato fries! But I came in after having a very hard personal day to treat myself and I waited at the host stand for a couple minutes to be ignored, when an older couple walked in, and the host immediately asked to seat them ? Then another host comes to the stand and completely ignores my existence, and I asked for a table of one, and she doesn't even look me in my eyes and says OK, and then turns to the other host that just returned and start to completely different conversation, completely ignoring me, and then I say, are you serious? and then they continue to ignore me. At 1130 am we opted to stop at the Seven Acres 's sister restaurant, The Union restaurant. I always wondered how this place was because most times it's always packed inside and out. The front where they also boast an outdoor bar. I stopped here in late September and had a drink on my way home. Now we are taking this opportunity to test their wares and libations. It certainly didn't disappoint... Arrived and had us some mighty fine drinks I got the spritzer and the loved one enjoyed an old fashioned with Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Both excellent. I was more impressed with the spritzer and how I almost forgot all about Blue No Riesling... Gazed through the menu saw some Interesting choices, we just love chicken livers and looked forward to enjoying that as a shared app, while the entrée was the Salmon BLT. Cooked to a perfect Medium Rare. The bread was also toasted slathered with the house made aioli. With the famous French fries that both sister stores offer. Be forewarned that the chicken liver app is cold. Which kind of threw us off. For the most part I've always had it hot with the exception of the chopped chicken liver salad that I grew up on... it was nicely done... The salmon was great, medium rare, with the appropriate garnishings... There is a lot more to discover. We were engrossed in our own conversation we didn't even get a chance to really scope the place out. They have a patio seating seasonly enclosed. Tastefully done. Menu is all over the place - Asian dishes, pizza, and sloppy joes. Everything is good, but rarely great. No seasoning on the burger or the chicken sandwich for instance, so I would avoid those. Fries are excellent and are the best in Milton. Stir fry is tasty. This location has so much potential, but needs a more focused menu and theme with a broad bourbon selection. read more

My family popped in here after family photos this fall and had a great experience. Everything from the service, personality of the server, and the food was positive. Lots of parking and very easy to get in and out. We haven't been back; however, if we lived closer I am sure we would eat there frequently. Each year I come back for Christmas, I will come to the union. I like this restaurant a lot. We order Kung Pao chicken rice bowl and salmon sandwich. The rice bowl is great, not necessarily kung pao, but it is tasty and I really appreciate a suburb restaurant offering chopsticks and having Asian food here.
