If I worked in the area this small but on-trend (Monocle magazine available to read, wooden tables, exposed brick etc) cafe would be a joyful reprieve from the cubicle farm life. Also, it'd remove the need to trick yourself into a coffee from surrounding chain stores.
Like many cafes popping up in Brisbane of late, The Tucker Box falls into the category of coffee pushers that are fantastic for bringing a higher quality of product to suburban areas but aren't necessarily worth the trek if you aren't local. That's not to say they're bad, our coffees were consistent and I could taste the coffee in my flat white (often it's overpowered by the milkyness). My avocado on turkish toast was bountiful and the avocado to toast ratio spot on. We weren't discouraged from popping up our laptops and punching out a little work while we sipped our drinks. They're just not spots that you would necessarily make a trip specifically to visit. I'm glad I visited though, it's pleasing to see the suburbs being treated to a cafe experience delivered by people who give a damn about what they serve.
Oh and they win major bonus points for playing a bit of 80s Kylie and Hall & Oats while we were there. read more
