I went in with the intention of having brunch at around 10:40 am. There were four of us and we were standing around the front of the Cafe where there was a long table overlooking the street. We waited for them to clear the table but when the lady noticed us, she said come around to the back because they had space there for four. So off we went and found a cute private area behind the cafe with a big table that could fit 8-10. We shared that table with four other people but ended up seated at the end in direct sunlight over two seats. Unluckily it was I in one of those seats and after only a few moments I literally felt sick from the heat. We decided to just grab cold juices - CAM; Cucumber, Apple & Mint ($6.90), which were yummy and generous. They were served in those tin tall glasses typically used for milkshakes. I can't say much about the food unfortunately but I didn't feel like they took much care of us as customers. I had to question why we were moved from the front to the back in the first place. No one came later either to see if we were ok with our orders. It just didn't feel right being there.

We can understand why Hallowed Grounds Espresso is held in such high-regard by Brisbane's coffee-loving, & all-day-breakfast hunting public, as well as locals alike. Located on 1417 Logan Road, Mount Gravatt, Hallowed Grounds Espresso, has an eclectic retro vibe, with second hand artwork & posters for sale. There's a mix of vintage pieces too, & even some funky looking chandeliers hanging from bed-springs, that hipsters would be proud of. Cakes, house-made lamingtons, ham & cheese croissants, sandwiches are available at the front counter, if you're looking for something quick to "take-away". The menu is easy, with all day breakfast, & lunch options ($6.50 - $22), a selection of hot & cold drinks, & of course, most importantly, coffee (by Elixir). The coffee was enjoyable (a "long macc" with almond milk), medium level of acidity & a chocolatey syrupy finish. Made for a nice combination with the almond milk. It's comforting to browse the menu knowing there are options that won't break your budget & caters to our vegetarian friends. All day Breakfast, appealed the most on this occasion, & we went with: (1) "Nana's love" $15; special savoury mince, topped with softly poached egg, served on thick sourdough & caramelized onion jam; (2) "Breaky Bowl" $22 (vegetarian); roast pumpkin, kale, haloumi, avocado, grilled tomato, crumbled feta, poached egg, topped with dukkah & served on a bed of spinach. Portions are plentiful & more importantly, both dishes were perfect! Inhaled "Nana's love", & the plate clean, as the mince went so well with the onion jam, & the "Breaky Bowl" was so flavoursome. Vegetarians rejoice! Definitely a fan of Hallowed Grounds Espresso, for their friendly service, good coffee, & awesome all day breakfast menu. Loving all these family-owned cafes, that grace the suburbs of Brisbane. Tip: Plenty of parking in nearby streets (not the Main Road of course).

This place is great. Prompt, parking, indoor and out, good coffee, interesting menu, good price, baby chairs, cakes, kooky decor, and surrounded by shops you can browse later. The French toast bagel vas tasty!!

Decided on Hallowed Grounds for a Brunch Catch up on Saturday. Despite appearing comfortably full, the lovely staff found us a long table out the back which we happily shared with other friendly diners. The staff were courteous & helpful, the food was fresh, delicious with HUGE servings, juice was straight from the apple & coffee was great! Will definitely make a return visit. It lived up to its great reputation. Loved it!

Friendly service, great location out of the shopping mall madness, ok coffee but $22 for a brekky bowl is overpriced.

What a find! Cannot believe it has taken so long to find…read moreit. This place is great - it has changed hands since the last review and some changes made, still praiseworthy. The family love this place including our dog. It is on Ekibin Road - there is parking out front but best to use s side street. Walk up - do the COVID check in - find a table inside or out in the backyard garden ( our preference as we take the dog) There is a dog playground at the back next to the table - most dog friendly cafe I have seen. But let's get down to what's important- coffee & food - both good. The long blacks more than passed muster and given an excellent score by the other half. The capppuccino on almond always hits the spot. Coffee is excellent. Food is also excellent - the snag varieties vary day to day so check for favorites. Good selection of vegan and GF options. Top marks!

Adding another gem to Annerley/Moorooka/Tarragindi surburban cafe landscape this place is well on it's way to becoming a brunch/breakfast favourite. We visited Subsay morning 10ish - while we had no reservation (and it happened to be Father's Day - oops) we were still seated & served quickly. Menu features many bfast faves with some twists thrown in such Banana Bread French Toast the husband ordered along with specials like the Moroccan eggs that I had. Many gluten free & vege friendly options available. Carnivores fear not maple bacon & homemade sausage varieties abound. Coffee orders were taken promptly and delivered swiftly. Bare Bones coffee FTW. We didn't try the juices or smoothie options but they did sound good. Service was great considering the business of the day. My hashbrown side order did get slightly forgotten at first - which I'm attributing to simple new staff error - but soon appeared once brought to their attention. They are open for lunch & dinners (not totally sure which mights) and wine list we are keen to go back and try that out soon.

Yes I've been there twice now. Two weekends in a row around 8am. Both with friends and all trying something different from the menu. Everyone had only positive things to say, except maybe the portions were large and they shouldn't have eaten it all. If you're going for breakfast they are not going to have your typical breakfast foods. But who doesn't love a lunch style menu for breakfast. Regardless, you'll have trouble deciding what to have. It's an eclectic menu and if you prefer something on the lighter side there is a bakery onsite as well. I was told the chef likes to play around when I asked about a particular biscuit/cookie. Think red velvet biscuit with marshmallow inside. The staff are very friendly and helpful giving recommendations with regard to what might satisfy your craving when you've narrowed your decision down to two. For my part there were a lot of meals with eggs which I'm very fussy about so typically just don't choose it (makes sense ). But there were a couple I just really want to try next time and was told some accommodation could be made. Having said that the ingredients in each meal are so well thought out I would really not want to change things up. Unless it was to maybe ask for the egg on the side. Will I be back. Yes definitely, even if just for a coffee and pastry. I will try to not be so excited to eat and even take some photos.

This little place came highly recommended, with descriptions that made me salivate. So, off we went…read morewith high expectations. We didn't booked, because it was a rainy Saturday, surely, most people are still in their cosy warm beds. We put our name on the wait-list when we arrived. It wasn't too long before we were shown to a table. Tick! We promptly placed our orders and sat back to chat, enjoying the buzz in the space. Interiors was clean, simple and homely. We liked that. Front of house was staffed by a young team. Most of the staff was friendly enough, but looked to be under the pump and it showed on their faces. However, a couple of the girls looked disinterested and lacked a smile, which is very important in a customer service-oriented industry. My girlfriend ordered a coffee and it arrived in a timely manner. We thought, this is a good sign, perhaps the food would soon follow, as they seemed to be an efficient team. Two tables arrived, we peeked and saw that they ordered similar dishes to ours. We got excited, thinking we would be next. Nope! 40 minutes passed with one waiter reassuring us that our food is only, but minutes away. We accepted their response and continued to wait patiently. Our food finally arrived after we enquired about it again. With a rushed apology, she set down our food and vanished. We enjoyed the food, it was very well presented and was super tasty. When we finished, our plates was immediately cleared away and we were asked if we wanted more coffees. All this happened while we were in deep conversation. After refusing further coffees, we were handed the bill without asking for it. This is a very rude thing to do, as the establishment is implying that we need to move on. As a person with a massive hospitality background, this is a big no-no in the industry. It is rude and leaves a sour taste in the customer's mouth despite the beautiful food. I cannot recommend this space, as they need to life their game with it comes to customer service. Food wise, not much to fault from my one meal. I later found out that my girlfriend frequent this place often and every time her servings have been bigger for the same dish.
