Wow it's been a long while since I stumbled on this place…read more It's as good as ever. Stopped in for brunch. The Breakfast Bun was delicious, tasty and filling. The Yumington was a sweet breakfast treat that filled the brunch craving. Coffee was excellent and worked well with brunch. Not too bitter - a Goldilocks blend, just right. The decor seems the same from all those years back. It's got a good atmosphere so why change what seems to work. As I said good as ever.

I found Extraction Artisan Coffee almost 4 years ago by accident. And what a wonderful chance…read moremeeting it was. Located at the back of an industrial area near Springwood, this hidden gem of a coffee place is well worth the visit. You will return time and time again. Apart from the amazing range of gourmet food, their house blend 'Gratitude' coffee which is roasted and produced on-site is to die for. Extraction caters for all dietary needs, and it is very proud of the fact that it uses and respects sustainable practices. I love the way that it supports local industries including the dairy and meat farmers. I also love the fact that the staff are continually being involved in community events, and they excel in the way they give back to the community and inspire their customers to do the same. You feel like family. Ordering at the counter is fast and helpful and the table service is amazing. Everyone is so friendly, and continually making your dining experience wonderful. Coffee, friends, food and good times are the essences of Extraction. There are so many different places to sit and enjoy reasonably-priced coffee and food. Large, small and medium tables are surrounded by couches and antique chairs. The decor is eclectic but not pretentious. Apart from the exquisite range of coffee, Extraction also has their amazing range of cold drip coffee plus a huge assortment of tea if that's your thing. Go and try Extraction Artisan Coffee. It's a great place to meet people, relax, chill out and enjoy yourself surrounded by friendly and attentive staff. And on a personal note, for breakfast, you can't go past the vast array of choices, but for this man, the scrambled eggs are done to perfection and the locally produced bacon is exquisite. I love this quote from their online menu which really sums up the whole Extraction experience: "Sharing food and enjoying coffee together is the equivalent of saying you matter."

Penny Coffee Co - Avocado on toasted sourdough with marinated feta, spiced chickpeas, pomegranate salsa, sumac labneh, dukkah and lemon. Very, very good.

I've made a few trips to Penny, some just for coffee (takeaway and sit down) and a few with food…read more Across the board, Penny is outstanding in terms of Brisbane's cafe scene. The baristas are exceptionally skilled, and there is a selection of roasts to choose from. While I normally like my coffee black, something that isn't too hard to make, I've had a few flat whites from Penny which have been excellent. A friend of mine asked if they're able to pull a piccolo using soy milk, without the milk splitting. Despite indicating that the barista don't need to try if they haven't made one before, they produced one (after two failed attempts) by slowly adjusting the extraction to the point where they could add a shot to soy milk without producing soy cheese. Doing this despite explicitly not needing to is the sort of above and beyond that earns long-term customers. The food is similarly stellar. The avo on sourdough may at first blush seem like a pricier version of what everyone else is doing. The flavours in Penny's version are, however, inventive and balanced to a point I haven't had elsewhere. There's a nice balance between the feta, dukkah and pomegranate where you can taste all of them without one overpowering the other. The vegetabowl is similarly great. There's just enough of each ingredient that you can taste them, without the dish being overpowered by one note. Penny's interior makes maximal use of the space. There are comfortably sized tables out front and inside, and some bar seating by the espresso machine. The best seats in the house, though, are out back, and include a few longer tables. The staff at Penny are attentive, friendly and great at pulling a coffee and making food.

What a gem! Penny is the best cafe in the area by far. It is rare to find a cafe that provides an…read moreexcellent choice of coffee (try the home brew) and delicious breakfast. The staff is friendly
