Scrambled eggs (2)
Christine R.

Today was my first time here and I was so glad to stumble upon it! I was in and out in less than 30 min- was quick to be seated, get my order in, and the food was out in less than 10 min. I loved the art and old photos on the walls. I got the French toast and 2 scrambled eggs. The portions were large and I left fully satisfied! The eggs were cooked medium. My server came back to ask if I had wanted cheese but they were great as is. The French toast had powdered sugar on top and was presented beautifully. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by!

We arrived around 7pm on a Friday, and found a space right in front. There's plenty more parking in the large well-lit lot 120-feet up Oella Av. The restaurant was pretty busy, and the bar was nearly full, but we were able to walk to one of a good number of available 2-seat and 4-seat tables. A number of people wound down dinner through 8pm, so more tables and front-door-parking kept opening up. It's a casual retro interior with dark wood and exposed brick, true to the building's 1833 origin. It's darkly lit and welcoming in a homey way. Nice people, many from nearby towns. The lunch-dinner menu is casual, from sandwiches to a variety of mains. It's average-priced, not expensive, and the servings are very generous. We had a hot Chicken Riggie linguini with artichokes, and a cold over-stuffed shrimp-salad sandwich on a hoagie roll with fries. They were both fresh and flavorful. The fries, since you asked, were piping hot, lightly crisp, and perfectly soft inside. We were served without a long wait, and the floor staff was constantly attentive. Throughout dinner, the crowd was mostly middle-age and older. The bar side nearest the door seemed like mostly regulars. But surprise, they have restarted their Friday 9pm karaoke, and by then a younger crowd really filled the place along with the regulars. This was "Christmas in July", with some fun decorating and several themed songs, some by decades-long regulars! You have to see nattily-dressed Mike, well-known for his spins and kicks! And you havent lived until you've heard Tim's bawdy version of The Night Before Christmas :-). Singers ranged from could-be-pros to I-just-love-to-sing. The best part was that the great crowd joined in boisterously with the singing, and applauded every performance. It's probably the most fun karaoke I've been to! We faded out around 11pm, and it was still going strong. It's a great casual restaurant, and a really fun Friday evening out!

Highly recommend , cool neighborhood bar right on the heart of historic Ellicott city . The place is clean, the decor fits the overall vibe and service is great . Came in breakfast , sat at the bar was greeted and given great service . No complaints on breakfast (minus the fact the grits are absolutely water down and no matter how hard you try to season it still taste watery ) I definitely would be back .

The Trolley Stop is a place we're locals and visitors can come have a good meal and relax. Highlighted by a beautiful bar and amble seating, this historic building built in 1833 has served the community of Ellicott City for nearly 200 years including a stop on the #9 Trolley Line out of Baltimore (last run was in 1955). Lots of history and pictures throughout the restaurant showing the 1972 Hurricane Agnes flood of Ellicott City. Note: There is limited parking in front of the restaurant, but don't despair, go around the corner to the public lot or back across the river to another.

The vibes of this place is amazing! It's a restaurant for regulars for sure with quality decently priced drinks! Service is great and they are super nice!

The cheesesteak is huge!

I like to support local small businesses and prefer restaurants that aren't part of a National chain and the Trolley Stop is a perfect fit. The portions are large and fairly priced and the service we had was friendly and attentive. Once I said I can never have enough coffee the server made sure my scup was never empty. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was okay. There was a spice missing and I still cannot figure it out. The sandwich was huge and the fries were piping hot and a perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. My wife had the pancakes and they were great. We will be back.

My wife and I have been coming to The Trolly Stop for a few years, it's a great bar filled with very friendly people and staff. We have eatten lunch and dinner here often. Today we came in for the first time for breakfast. The menu was ok. Kinda of limited but you can probably get anything you want. My wife ordered a Western Omelet which she said was good but had no cheese on it at all, isnt a Western Omelet supposed to have cheese on it? I had the Cream Chip Beef (pictured) which came with potatoes on the side which I asked to add onions. The potatoes and onions could have been cooked longer. The Chipped beef was good but I like the Gravey a little thinner as it was very, very thick like spackle. Bottom line: great place for lunch, dinner and a few drinks but breakfast was just eh.

My wife and I decided to check out the speakeasy upstairs. I wish they had longer hours; as of this writing, they are only open from 8:00 p.m. until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Does that exclusivity add to the mystique? A bit, yes? Does that make it less likely for me to return any time soon? Also yes. The ladies behind the bar and the owner were upstairs chilling and greeted us as soon as we ascended the steep staircase. The dimly-lit Chambers has a lot more space to sit than I had anticipated, so you could come with a bunch of friends. There are tables, but also couches and lounge chairs. True to the speakeasy vibe, they have a bunch of signature cocktails, but they also make classic cocktails and likewise serve wines and beer. We had hoped to get a little food. It's mostly small-plates of food to pick at. The charcuterie plate sounded good, but the one bartender said it would take 15-20 minutes to prepare (surprising, because we were the only ones in there) and we had already kept our babysitter waiting too long, so we just did drinks. I got one of the seasonal signatures - the "What'd I say?" which had a citrusy boozy thing going for it, sort of reminiscent of a Sidecar. My wife got something warm, like an apple toddy. It was a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise tasted great! As mentioned, I wish they had longer hours. They've only been open two years, so maybe someday they'll expand beyond late-night on the weekend. But more folks came in as my wife and I wrapped up our evening, so maybe it's as sustainable level of popular for now. If you like cocktails and a speakeasy vibe, definitely check this place out.

Music, the background music was terrible, nobody ( except the staff perhaps ) wants to hear modern music at a speakeasy . I asked politely if they could play some roaring 20's type music , Boardwalk empire soundtrack, anything , even classical music . But they simply said they have no control over the music ?? I could have put my phone on a Spotify list and it would have been 10 times better . Will try again and hopefully management or owners will change their tune! The ambience could also be helped with a little more character, old Ellicott city B/W pics , some antiques? Lastly they have cool outside deck too , will def be back .

Apparently the tavern is connected to but not owned by the same folks at the brewery. It's also seemingly one of the only spots in town that's open seven days a week. Finding parking was surprisingly difficult on a Sunday night, but I circled around until I found a spot. The place seemed pretty packed, with folks waiting for tables, but since I was just there for the beer, I was sent upstairs to the bar. A couple of really nice bartenders were on duty and helped me right away. I got an amber beer which went down smooth, and I opted to get a pizza too. Heads up: If you're vegan you can basically sub out any pizza for a vegan option, but be certain to ask about ingredients, as no one pointed out the white sauce isn't vegan until I asked. I like spice and smokiness, so I opted for the Holy Smoke -- Alabama White BBQ, Tavern Blend Cheese, Cheddar, Smoky BBQ Sauce, Pulled Chicken, Pickled Jalapeños, Corn, Hardwood Smoke -- according to the menu. The pizza came out super quickly and it smelled like a campfire... in a really good way. The pizza was tasty and the crust was also realllly good. I ate half of it and took the other half to go, which ended up being another meal. And I can confirm it tastes good cold too! I'd definitely come back here, particularly on a warm day when the patio is open (it was raining pretty hard when I was there, so sadly, no outdoor seating). The people are super friendly and the menu definitely has a lot of options. If you're in Ellicott City, put it on your list!

I've been to Ellicott Distilling twice. Once as a solo date night for myself and recently as a small group with my family. And both times I had an absolute blast. If making your own liquor doesn't draw you in then the taco bar, welcome drink, endless samples of liquor, and an all-around great time will do it. Arkadi, the owner is an amazing host and keeps the class lively. You kick off the class putting some food from the taco bar on your stomach, which you will definitely need, and make your first cocktail of the day. From there you get going with the distilling process, which is a pretty neat process to learn about. You don't realize how much science goes into making the spirits we all love to consume. And I love the little old timey distilling machines each person uses to make their liquor of choice. Once the liquor starts dripping you head downstairs for a little tour and barrel sampling. And then back upstairs to finish off your custom flavored bottled and some trivia. The trivia is a win, win because even with wrong answers you still win with samples of various flavored liquors. My family and I were the only ones attending for the day, so it was a very intimate class that we all thoroughly enjoyed. This class is a must try for anyone that loves a good bottle of bourbon/gin/vodka, and you can even say that you made it yourself.

We hit the brewery on a Friday about 5:30pm and it was crowded but still found a table. Can't say enough good things about the staff, very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable when it came to their beers. But their beers were all over the board. Honestly, I've given up trying to find a good WCIPA outside of California, but did try their collab with North Park, called Pristine State. Also sampled a hazy pale called Beam of Light, their Pilsner, Scenic, a double hazy IPA, Vanillafort with a sh*t ton of vanilla beans, I'm Grander, their pasty stout and Osmosis, their amber lager. On top of that I also took home their blueberry maple pancakes and tangerine whip smüzi. Didn't open the tangerine and drain poured the blueberry pancakes after maybe half a glass. So Sapwood did a lot of different beers but none that I really could say suited my taste buds. Then again, I'm very spoiled with excellent craft in California. Their food was good, we ordered a taco sampler, Brussels sprouts and nachos. All the food was very flavorful and you got a fair amount for the price. Not much in the way of ambience, but it's a brew pub, there is rarely any of that. All in all my visits were average, not a big fan of their beer selection, nothing really fit my tastebuds, the North Park collab was close. Not sure what their niche was when it comes to beer. I don't need to be overwhelmed by the tap selection. Would I return? Yeah, but not my first choice for craft beer, but the food was more of a hit with me.

You can enter on Main Street, or from the back patio. For the full dive-effect, I like to come directly from the old iron staircase in the back, halfway up to the patio, past the original tiny old restrooms and the ice machine. (There's nicer restrooms on the performance / pool-table side.) I looked in on the pool-table side where bands play regularly. There's seating there for around 30, mostly used when bands are playing or by pool-players or when the bar side is full. There's some benches out on the patio for warmer weather and for smoking. The walls are covered with old rock memorabilia, and i love the bar side where there are old albums on the ceiling too! Plus a collection of old stuff over the years that defies description. The bar seats maybe 15. I always sit on the bar side, where it's usually dimly lit. You can get basic mixed drinks and some premium spirits, and plenty of varieties of beers, some craft, some old regulars. They have a small kitchen, too. I usually just get a cold Natty Boh and watch some sports on their several tvs, or talk to anyone I know, or anyone who happens to be nearby.
