This outdoor mall is GREAT. I hit up the Marshalls and the Ulta when I came here. Not A LOT of stores, but good ones at least.

This is no longer a mall. It was bought out by a foreign (Reno) real estate company who want to…read moreturn it into a weird Marxist utopia. The actual residents began to whisper about this. People were saying "Rhino" were monsters who would destroy Silverdale. What's happening now is the operating hours will be reduced and they can just suddenly close the mall and kick you out so the elites (these seem to be 20-29 in age range, not from here, and very fancy if the cars are any indication) can have special parties. These are creepy. I saw a "comedy show" in an abandoned restaurant where no one was laughing. Security accosted me and asked why I was trying to shop in a mall. They said the posted hours were wrong. They were pretty demeaning. What's sleazy is no one was told the mall was closing. Rhino repeatedly lied to residents. They only listened to these foreigners who spilled in to raid the area while living in those creepy ticky tacky apartments that all look just the same. These people will all say the same thing. They will say "Once, this mall was shoulder-to-shoulder people" like they are reading from a script an AI created. Their eyes glaze when they say this. They act strange. They look robotic. They wear these fancy "distressed" clothes that aren't from here. They don't look like they're from here. Everything is overpriced now. Taxes are through the roof. It's like a third-world county. Now, there's not even a mall and some residents are trapped. The mall was the landmark in Silverdale, so there is no Silverdale. It's just those viral, scary apartments. It's awful. We were told the mall would come back. I guess they lied. How you can improve: Stop the creepy entertainment and have a shopping mall. If you can't do that, tear it down and put in more gross, identical tenement apartments.

Freddy's has everything and really doesn't leave a lot of room for tiny one-note businesses to compete. It's actually possible to have been shopping at this excellent department store for months or years until the attached leased retail spaces vanish from one's awareness. Thus there's almost always a space available to lease, in which to fail as a small business. Ask anyone to name three businesses in the Freddy's complex and they'll probably only recall one, and that'd be the Subway at the entrance; it's handy and really good for fast-food. Opposite is a very generic Asian fast-food joint (teriyaki, sushi, etc), I've tried a couple times and if you're hungry enough it ain't bad, but Freddy's own little restaurant area is nicer. There's a second and better Asian restaurant that's better for Mongolian food. There's a "mail service" called Pak Mail who'll even wrap your parcel for you, but is expensive as all get out (two or three times the price of UPS or FedEx), so who'd go there twice? A shoe repair shop I used a couple times before realizing the guy charges more than most of us spend on new shoes. A Starbucks replaced a lovely independent and genteel cofffeehouse (Olympic Espresso) that failed. There's much else difficult to bring to mind, as I've not had both the need and the recollection they existed. A dentist office. A locksmith (which everyone who has used their emergency services praises highly). A Little Caesars which I presume is as lousy as the Little Caesars I tried in two other locations but never again. A hair salon. I hope I've remembered them all but probably haven't. Oh, multiple bank small branches, but not mine. I do lament an old-timey Used Record Store that must've been the last one in the county!

Then I went to the check out area near the garden dept., as that was where I was parked. There was one check stand open with 2 people ahead of me. The checker was a young man, who was obviously very inexperienced. He was sooooo slow. After waiting for about 10 minutes, he finally got to the person ahead of me who had a lot of purchases. By then there were 3 people behind me. I asked the checker if he could call for another checker. He mumbled into the mike asking for backup. Nobody showed up. I moved my cart out of line and walked out. It was a very frustrating experience. I am a retiree of 30 years of working in grocery stores. Yes, this store has gone downhill.

I feel like a larger retail mall would have higher rent for some of the independent stores. All the owners and staff are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the products in their stores. There is a vintage video game store, comics, collectible trading cards, sports cards, toys and a great small used vinyl record store that also sells VHS and CDs. I honestly wouldn't have known the amount of stores in the mall by the signage outside. My favorite store is the used vinyl store where I was able to find some real hard to find records with not a lot of markup and ones that I can't easily find even on the internet. I hope that the new owners can keep renovating the outside and inside of the mall while still being able to keep a lot of the independent stores within the mall.

There are very few shops (more offices), and the ones that do exist do not seem to be doing very much business, as the mall is eerily empty. I would certainly love to see this mall rejuvenated, as Port Orchard could definitely use more refreshing, but it is going to take a lot of work to make this space a desirable shopping destination. Pro-Tip: There is a collector's shop (including old video games), an independent bookstore, and a small bakery on the first floor that are definitely the best this mall has to offer at this time. If you decide to stop-by, I'd recommend checking them out.

I shop Homegoods on a pretty regular basis, and the last thing I want is for the items I purchase to break between me leaving the store and getting home. I came to the store today to purchase a lamp I was looking for if they had it. Turns out they did and I found a few other little things while I was there. Go to the front to pay for my things. On the way to register 1 I grabbed a reusable bag it was cute had sushi on it. Figured I could have some of my things put in there whatever else can go in another bag. I hand the cashier my bag she starts to ring me up and immediately I see her just putting breakables in the bag no wrapping paper AT ALL. I tell her I'd like those wrapped, she proceeds to grab a single piece of paper to loosely wrap up my items. I told her I'm sorry I'd like more please, she then proceeded to gaslight me and tell me she's running out of paper, mind you I'm looking at an entire stack of wrapping paper my items are sitting on. I'm literally gonna crash out at this point because why am I getting the lowest bar for customer service. And we are still not done, now that I'm irritated for having to ask for just the basics, she finishes ringing me up prints my receipt and tells me to have a nice day but the other HALF of my items are still unwrapped and unbagged. She never asked me if I'd like a second bag if I just want to place the items in my cart nothing. So again now asking for a bag for the rest of my stuff!! She then says that will be 8 cents!! LADY why was I not asked during the transaction if I'd like a second bag??!! Let me be clear wrapping items and asking a customer if they would like a bag is the BARE MINIMUM of customer service. I don't know if this was the cashiers personal choice, if this is something from management to limit how much paper is used or corporate. But do better for your customers.

JC Penney's used to be cool and the smell of Ivars, Subway, Taco Bell and Panda Express brought back the 90's nostalgia of cd's and getting new kicks. The only thing left is a shell of Red Robin's, Nordstrom Rack, and the outside businesses such ad chipotle AT and T and Barnes and Nobles. I was reminiscing on Blue Finn buffet, Azteca and Bed Bath. I guess there's lots of remodeling going on and the Kraken ice rink is built which draws a different vibe. It feels more disjointed as a mall and more of a huge lot with random businesses that are mismatched. Target across the way is still going strong but the crime in that area is high.
