My wife was tired of cutting my hair and suggested I stop being a cheap-ass while using her for slave labor and actually offered to pay for my 1st real legit haircut once things opened up so I thought I'd might find a barbershop for the future... I was looking for my VERY particular 19 yr old Nephew, who needed a serious cropping of his locks that grew during his semester at college. I asked him repeatedly exactly what kind of Barber he was looking for. I suggested mine, but they weren't open on a Monday. And knowing him I damn wasn't going to take him to Floyd's. The haircut was okay and the shop was small. I'm don't remember who my barber was, but he did not speak to me much. This would normally not be an issue at all, but he had no problem holding a conversation with a friend who stopped by at the door. More importantly, the barber repeatedly nicked a mole on the back of my head, which almost seemed like it was on purpose? It started bleeding so bad he needed to hold a paper towel to it. I got moderate rash (infection?) on my neck in the following days from the straight-edge; which usually is a sign of poorly cleaned equipment. read more

Really had high hopes for this spot...called early morning Wednesday to schedule a appointment. Martin was their said he would take me. Got their a little early sat down. It's a nice small hole in the wall and welcoming . My one star comes from the cut...I asked for a undercut that is not all retarded high..I showed him examples and pictures. He said not a problem that traditional undercuts are done high. I explained I didn't want that, I wanted the pictures I showed him, I wanted the cut to be low...Long story short I came out with a damn Mohawk......literally a Mohawk not even an undercut or slick back style..i have 5inches of hair in width on top of my head...wtf...I explained my engagement party is next week(9/4/16) today is (8/24/16)...what a complete fail... I either have to shave off this ridiculous Mohawk or hide my hair underneath a hat for my engagement party!!! Not sure how that's going to look....a button up shirt and dress shoes and a baseball cap...beyond upset, beyond angry and beyond disappointed...never coming back read more

I chose this shop because of the positive review on Google, Yelp, and Facebook. I made a 6:15 appointment online with Rafael a week prior. Not only did they text and email you to remind you of your appointment, they also ask for a credit card in advance in case you don't show up. Well guess what? I got there a little early, and no one was at the shop when I got there. I went to the bar next door to ask, and they said the barbers come and go, but if I had an appointment they'd be here. I checked at 6:15 and it was completely empty and locked. They sign on the front door said they'd be open until 7. I waited a little longer, and even called a couple times and no one answered. Xavier is the best barber in LA. No, I haven't tried them all... but I have visited enough barbershops in this city to know that I have found the barber I'm going to keep coming back to. Finding a barber who can give you the EXACT cut you're looking for is no easy task. Xavier nailed it on my first visit. And he has given me a perfect haircut every time I've returned. He is definitely the most consistent barber I've ever had. His fades are perfection and his scissor skills are spot on. He takes his time and makes sure you're happy with every aspect of your haircut. Also, being able to book your appointment through the barbershop website makes the whole process so much easier. My only regret with Xavier is that I didn't find him sooner. I recommend Xavier to all of my friends and co-workers. Let me make some clarifications now that I've cooled down a bit. 1) The haircut itself was actually pretty good. The fade was even and graduated nicely. 2)My review was about a single employee there. Not Xavier or his establishment. 3) Calling his barber shop a "hole in the wall" was cruel on my part and I officially apologize for that. The barber shop itself is actually quite nice and its small size makes it feel cozy and personal. Has a really nice vintage feel to it. 4) I should have spoke up while I was there. There was a few opportunities that I should have said something (especially when I saw that electric razor). That being said Xavier has offer to give me a haircut and shave again and I will write another update once that happens. Marteen is the MAN! I came to this barber shop through a recommendation and I was not disappointed. I had an idea of the style that I wanted and it would be the first time getting this style. Marteen made me feel comfortable as soon as I sat down in his chair. The way he maneuvered his shears through my thick luscious hair was magical. He's like the present day Edward Scissorhands. He ended with a razor shave and I left with a clean cut and a hard part. The classic barber chairs comforts your booty and it feels like you're sitting on a cloud. Went in for a haircut with Xavier for the first time as soon as the "Stay at home" order was lifted. The shop was very clean. Plenty of parking!! I watched Xavier wear a face covering entire time he was in the shop as well as sanitized the chair and his tools before I sat down for my haircut.
