First and foremost I am BEYOND disappointed in this company…read more I cannot even believe I have to write this review, however I feel it's necessary because the other reviews people have written on google now seem very valid. I was referred to this company by someone I know, she had put it out there that they were looking to hire...I was so excited, I've actually been wanting to get into this type of field for a long time. I am thinking this is my big break...God has answered my prayers. Wrong! I apply and I go in for my interview...(it was Wednesday morning)I know I was amazing and professional yet very friendly and knowledgeable. Although I did not have prior experience in this industry, my admin skills are more than good enough to start me in the right direction. So after the interview they thank me for coming in and said I should hear back by Friday at the latest regarding my criminal background check...okay sounds good. So I patiently wait and hear nothing by Friday, so I call Friday early afternoon to check on the status, she says she still hasn't received it...weird. Ok so I remain patient over the weekend and I call Monday morning (I know by now they have heard something). I speak to Lisa and she says "yes we received your background check and it came back unmatched" ummmm what?? What do you mean by that? She says "what you told us was on your record and what actually came back was not a match" I said I'm sorry what exactly do you mean, what didn't match?? She says "you didn't tell us that you have a Disorderly Conduct from June of this year" I said that's because I don't have anything at all on my record from this year...I said I'm sorry I'm confused here this isn't making any sense, you're saying there's a disorderly conduct from 2016 yet I have never been arrested or charged with anything....I said I think you have the wrong person. She asks my birthdate and my full name and my phone number which I gave to her....then says yep it's you, I said I think you're mistaken I haven't been arrested since I was a kid...so I'm in shock because I KNOW I do not have anything on my record since 1998 as far as arrests go...and I know she is wrong. So I decide to call someone I know at CBI just to double check and sure enough a Disorderly Conduct does not exist on my record in 2016...so at this point I'm pretty upset, But I'm at work and I do not have time to call her back. So she has the nerve to call me back a few hours later and says very nonchalantly "the 2016 charge was misspoken but here's the number for our director who can tell you what's on your background report...also I just found out that even if you've been fingerprinted it goes on your record" I haven't been fingerprinted either?? lol this woman thinks that I'm a criminal STILL!! I NEVER GOT AN APOLOGY...she acted as if this was just an every day occurrence and part of her "job". I'm convinced it was nothing but a waste of my time, gas and efforts to interview with this company, I'm appalled that this is the way they do business...now I know what it feels like to be falsely accused, it's a terrible feeling. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that I didn't get this job, would I even want to work for a place like this??

Are used to go down and just sit and talk to Bob, he was amazing and very dedicated to this cause. This is a drug and alcohol rehab for men and there are 13 steps of sobriety that they have to go through. I am so proud of the men that check into this place because they pretty much have hit rock bottom and they are guided through help to get their lives back. We have been donating there for years. Anytime I travel I collect all those little toiletries bring them back and they are donated along with men's clothes and shoes and other things that I might purchase to help people get their lives on a good path again. If you know anybody that is serious about getting help, I WOULD RECOMMEND this place, they have to be responsible and be serious about stopping their addictions. God bless you Bob for having the vision to help people that have lost their way.

There was a lot of fear coming into this program, but within the first month I was building my career, working a program, and learning how to save money. Now, four years later, I'm not just surviving, I'm living life. I have money in savings, I have my own place and a career, I can handle emotions and difficult situations without using, and I have true friends again. I couldn't have done it without Step Denver.
