I have a Casio g shock watch which local watch repair places could only replace the battery but not the gasket, so it couldn't be deemed water proof. Per Casio website, I sent it to the time machine to have the gasket replaced and the seal tested. After shipping it there, they told me the mode button was working only intermittently on my watch and they would have to replace the whole watch unit at my cost (past the warranty period). The button had worked fine when I sent it in, so I asked if they could just replace the gasket and send it back as is, but apparently that is against the policy, it's either all or nothing. I had them return the watch to me unrepaired at my expense. I've now had the watch for a few weeks and the mode button works perfectly - the whole unit definitely does not need to be replaced, simply needs a new gasket to be water proof again, not an upcharge and replacement! Pretty disappointed in a shop that won't do the repair asked for. The initial communication was very slow after I sent it in, but after that customer service response was good. read more

My Casio WV300DA was not accepting a charge - a new battery would last about a year and the battery charge did not increase even in full sunlight. The Time Machine replaced the 'solar cell' for $70.95 and I thought that was great until I got the watch back. The PowerSave option was not set, so I set it again. The next morning the watch display did not come back like it should, so I sent it back for repair. This afternoon I received a call which was very one-sided. She continually talked over me and I felt very disrespected. She made me to understand that I did not know my own watch (I have another identical one) and that a button press is needed to get out of PS mode - NOT TRUE. Eventually I was told they do not have the parts to repair my 'old' watch, so they would restore the old battery, return the watch and refund the repair cost. If this is the typical Casio repair experience I need to look at another manufacturer for future watches. Update: After another full week of silence, they responded to my email on Monday with: "Thank you for contacting us. Please let us do a few more testing on your Casio watch this week, and we will inform you about the final result by this week." This is the following Friday afternoon, with no update. read more

I have a G-Shock watch which was referred to Time Machine by Casio. I needed a new battery replaced and Time Machine quoted a $50 repair. They wouldn't quote me over the phone for the repair, the repair quote came after I had to box it up and ship it in. I said that the watch costs that much to buy new and I wouldn't want the repair. I asked what kind of battery the watch takes and was rudely told "we can't tell you that" and hung up on. A short YouTube video, 2$ battery, and 10 minutes later I repaired my own watch. read more

All I needed was a battery (I hoped), so I packed my watch and plotted my errand route accordingly. Among the many mom & pops some gentrification has snuck in and dotted its presence. For that alone, the name "The Time Machine" seemed so apropos. Enough with memory lane and on with the reason why I was there: Watch Battery ($8.50) - Pretty standard price as far as I know. Heck, the federal hourly rate of pay for a battery that will give me time for several years!? Sounded like a deal to me! And, they didn't charge you for service. However, I wondered if you were able to simply buy the battery and installed it yourself (they've always installed it). Service - On this afternoon, there were two other gentlemen already being helped by two male associates. I came in for a simple watch battery, was given an immediate quote and how long it would take, my watch was taken to the back, and about five minutes later (I was told ten minutes) all worked fine again. I also had a couple questions about an old Casio G-Shock Glide I loved but needed a new band, and they gave me some good recommendations. Plus, they were able to order accessories and handle repairs for you. All was good here. Parking - They shared a small free lot behind the business with Montrose Travel. I received it and it looks good. So with the original $65 and shipping to replace the crystal (they have to replace the front case on this watch), shipping both ways for the "Warranty", I am now into this scratched crystal about $103 for my $100 watch. read more

This was originally a 1-star review, but I'm revising it to be 5 stars. I brought in a Swiss Army Victorinox that hadn't been working for a few months, thinking the battery was dead. They told me the movement had stopped working and had to replace it. It took a few weeks for the movement to come in and when I picked it up it seemed to be working. A few days later, I noticed the watch was showing the incorrect time, and the hands were in places that didn't make sense, e.g. the hour hand was pointing directly at one, but the minute hand was pointing at six. I brought it back in and it took another week for them to get it fixed. Then about a month later, I noticed the exact same problem and brought it in once again. They fixed it but then the next day the problem manifested itself once more. At this point I was frustrated and left a negative review, but I decided to give it one more go. I brought in the watch again and explained my frustration. They took my complaints very seriously, replaced the movement, and tightened the watch hands so they would't slip out of place, and had my watch ready to go a few days later. I saw all the negative reviews, but my experience was positive. They repaired a clock that I really wanted to save and did it at a reasonable price. They also replaced the battery in my Skagen watch, although at a price that seems to reflect the inflation affecting everything these days. I have been coming here regularly for years. I used to think they were expensive, until I looked online. My Fossil watchband would have cost $30 online, but they had a similar band, the correct size and he even switched the buckle so I could keep the original Fossil buckle. All this for $24 including tax. Plus the 10 minute wait was just enough for me to walk down to Trader Joe's and back. Lots of parking in the back. read more

Brought in a Casio Gshock in November if 2017 for repair. It took 2-3 weeks for the repair and they told me he module or movement was the issue. That's fine they charged almost the same price of the new one but granted it had sentimental value I had to get it done. Fast forward to September 2018 and the Watch has the same issue. It is not working right. I took it back thinking I had warranty. Most of my all watch repairs come with some kind of warranty at least 1 year. They told me they only offer 90 days...? If they they had repaired the band or the crown or button i would understand 90 days but the whole module/movement was supposedly replaced and they only give 90 day warranty???? You ca compare it to working on a car if they whole engine was replaced a mechanic will not give only a 90 day warranty, it would come with at least a years warranty of not longer. They did not even offer to take a look at the Watch to trouble shoot the issue and see if t might have been a small issue. No help or service was offered. They were just deflecting the issue and i left. They say they are certified Casio repair center when i was told by an actual Casio representative not to take it to them and to send t directly to Casio manufacturing for repair. Not sure how this place stays in business with such poor customer service and the guy that was helping looked like he just walked off the street into the store with no knowledge of watches. read more

I've been to The Time Machine twice. The first time was to replace my watch battery, and the 2nd was to replace the little holder on the strap. I found the store by looking where to have my Casio watch serviced. This is THE service place for the western US. Instead of sending my watch here which could leave me watchless for over 4 weeks according to Casio, I decided to stop in when I was in the Pasadena area. Both times I've been, they've been able to fix my watch in a matter of minutes, so I have it back without any delay like I would if I send it. They did tell me that I can call ahead if I know I may need something special, like a new wrist strap, and they'd order that ahead of time. The employees have been friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. Since I go to Pasadena a few times a year, I'm glad I found this watch store/repair shop. read more

I called them to ask them basic questions about their services and how I should send my watch in and etc. The guy was good at answering all of my questions clearly so after I was informed of how they operate, I sent in my watch... UPS had told me that my watch was already delivered so I called in and asked if they received it yet and the guy said they haven't gotten it in yet, so I thought it was some kind of mistake on UPS. So I waited a couple of days and called them again... this time the guy said, "Oh! It did arrive, but it just wasn't in our system yet!" I thought to myself, "I guess that's okay..." and asked them how long it would take for me to get my watch back. The guy responded, "You should have it back by Tuesday." Tuesday comes and it's not there. I give it a couple of business days because shipping tends to take a while. Well it didn't come until Saturday. But before I had even known it was at my doorstep on Saturday (because I was already out of my house before it arrived) I called them at their opening time (11am on Saturdays) and nobody answered. I waited 10 minutes and called again, no answer. Waited another 5 minutes and called them again, still no answer. I got home and the package was there, thankfully, but if it was not and they had not answered my phone calls... idk... pretty bad. BUT my watch is in great condition and I'd rather pay a low price of 35 dollars for their services than doing it myself, they even set the date and time on my watch for me, which I was hoping they'd do lol. The employees have always treated me in a most professional manner and made me feel that I was an important customer. The prices are absolutely affordable and the time frame for repair has been quick with every watch I have sent for repair. I just received from them a beautiful Casio watch that I had dropped from my dresser to a tile floor, moving the hands. Since this watch is totally automatic I couldn't set the hands at the correct positions myself but the entire time involved in the repair from shipping to them to receiving back my watch was only 10 days. In my opinion, and that of the repair people who looked at my watches after I got them from then (they gave me different watches fromt he ones I brought (see below the disparity between these is visible- these 2 mens and women's watches by Seiko matched, and they returned this one big seiko that was someone else's- much less beautiful- then lied!). This was an outrageous experience. This shop will replace your watch and the contents with other parts. The do not have integrity or honest and they are to be avoided. I recommend an honest business and this is not it. I do not write many review except when there is a serious warning issue so be forewarned and go elsewhere for your watch repairs. This is a review for a warranty service via mail. It's great that they offer service as a warranty agreement with watchmakers, but it's only as good as the quality of work they put into it. In my case, it was very poor. I followed their directions to mail the watch, and then to pay for the shipment back. The watch arrived with another broken mechanism. Looks like they replaced the part, but didn't take the time to check if it works fully. Sending back a defective watch defeats the purpose for me. PayPal payments work fine, but you have to wait for a postcard with the invoice and job # before you can pay. They don't communicate via email (even though I gave them my email address). So it takes a longer time than it should to get your watch back. Shipment back was nicely packaged. Anyways, feels like I have to send the watch back to them and see if they will fix their mistake. I wish that we could rate lower than 1 star, because this company doesn't deserve any at all. I had a Casio EX-G1 that broke before the summer. There was a very tiny piece that needed to be replaced for the memory card door. No other damage was made to the camera. Now being that this is a Casio, and it was also a birthday present, I did not want to just send it to any repair shop. I went online to the Casio website and looked up their certified repair shops in the US. Amazingly there are ONLY 2 certified locations inside the US, The Time Machine and some place in New Jersey. There was also a repair shop in Puerto Rico, but I didn't feel like sending it all the way over there. Now before I even decide to send the camera to these guys I gave them a call, seeing that they had less than stellar ratings on Yelp. I call them, give them model of my camera and ask them if they can repair this and if it will be covered under warranty. Long story short, they said yes, and because it was a present and I didn't have my receipt, all I would need is a notarized note stating when the camera was bought, and what happened to it. Did that...and sent the camera to them. I of course followed-up, made sure they had my camera and that the repair was doable. What did they tell me, Yes...its can be done. Weeks pass by, I hear nothing from them...I give them a call and the guy over the phone, with the thick accent tells me that Casio themselves wanted to do the repair. Now this didn't make sense to me since the part was so small, and since they told me THEY COULD HANDLE THE REPAIR! Not to mention to 2 times I called in before this time, they said the part was on the way! They are liars!!! I want to let all of you know that at this point in the storyline it was August (1 month had passed since I sent it in). It is now almost the end of October and I still have no camera. The ordeal continued on with Casio, because they themselves also do not have their act together. I found out just the other day when I called Casio's customer service that The Time Machine wasn't even certified to work on my model camera. NOT ONCE did The Time Machine mention that to me when I called them and VERBALLY GAVE THEM the model number. Do not get your cameras repaired here unless you want some undue stress in your life... The worst experience I have ever had...ever... Also if you have a Casio...you might be better off getting another camera just to avoid the headache! read more

Our Casio Exilim camera stopped working while still covered by warranty, so I was told by Casio to ship it here. The Time Machine eventually fixed it, and it now works great, BUT it took them more than a month. It turned out they were unable to get the part they needed for weeks. It wasn't like they called me and said, hey, we wanted to let you know we have this supply issue; I had to keep calling them to find out what had happened with my camera. They seemed friendly enough, and may very well do a good job of fixing your camera or other device if they have the parts, but Yelp is about customer experiences, and my experience was dumb. If you're Casio's warranty repair place for all of California, you really, really should be able to work out getting a reliable supply of replacement parts from Casio. read more

It took over a month! Two weeks LONGER requiring me to buy a new camera for my vaycay. They blamed Casio not mailing the parts in time. Bummer. Anywho, the staff was friendly and quick with a watch repair and another friend's camera fixing. I bought a men's Invitca a few years back and although I lovvve it, it was wayy too big even after the staff at bloomingdales adjusted it. Secondly, I couldn't set the time and date for the life of me, since that little knob was way too difficult to wind manually. So naturally, I stopped by the time machine after having lunch with a friend at Joselitos to see if they could fix it. Low and behold to my amazement they were more than willing to address my watch problems and fix them at get this NO CHARGE! Now I can rock my blinging watch without it flopping around my wrist and actually get this check it for the correct time AND date! 1st time: My boyfriend suggested this place because it's nearby his place (in the San Rafael Hills.) We parked across the street by a bank and across from Montrose Travel. You can park for as long as 3 hours and it's FREE! If not, there is also parking along the street, but you have to pay the meter. The shop is small and when we entered we were greeted with a friendly hello. I needed a size adjustment for two watches. At first, I thought I wanted my watch tight fit, but then, the person recommended to take off fewer links so it's looser. It took around 15-20 minutes and once I got to try the fit of my watch, it was perfect! He was right. I did like my watch to fit looser than I initially thought. It was more comfortable! I'm glad he was able to tell me that because I would not have known (since these were my first watch adjustments) and I would have probably needed to wait longer. 2nd time: This time I needed to replace two watch batteries. I came here because I was happy with my first time and I was nearby due to school. It took around 15-20 minutes. I like the location because during that time I got lunch (there are many options along the street!). Overall, I am happy with my service. I forgot to ask how much the service as the first time, but I think it was a good day for me. I only paid $5 for both watches. For the second time, I paid around $19. I am not sure if they negotiate or price match other places. If your interested in doing that, I think it's worth a shot? I am not sure about what's an average price, but I am happy with the service! But the cameras either missed small screws or had them so loose as to fall out. Yes, they are the authorized service spot. I came here to get a Casio watch fixed that I'd found in my grandparents house after they passed away. I'm not sure who's watch it was, whether it belonged to my grandfather or grandmother. Heck, it might've even belonged to me since I used to live there when I was a kid and had a bunch of Casio watches. You know the kind I'm talking about. The super basic one with black face and the blue highlighting that has a stop watch and alarm. And that crappy light that doesn't really even work, but you still show it off at school because it's a light. But then one day little Tommy Rich Kid brings in his Indiglo Timex watch and puts your puny Casio light to shame. You toss the Casio watch aside because its tiny little light makes you feel ashamed. Nevermind that someone bought that for your with their hard earned money, but at that time you don't know anything about money. I mean, you know what it is, but you don't really understand how hard it is to get a lot of it (or even a little). So you bitch and moan until someone buys you a G Shock watch because you're a spoiled little shit. Of course you get the G Shock and take it to school and put Tommy Rich Kid to to shame until he brings something else in that shows off how awesome he is (probably a Gameboy or his own personal robo-servant). Then you grow tired of the G Shock and move on to complaining about something else. Meanwhile, the little Casio watch you had that worked perfectly fine goes by the wayside. When I found that watch, it worked fine, even after all those years. The only thing it needed was a new wristband, which I got from a store at the Topanga Mall; not the Time Machine. I wore the shit out of that watch until one day I accidentally stepped on it. Let me tell you, those things weren't meant to be stepped on by a 300 lb fat ass. The watch just kind of burst open at the seams and spilled its tiny electronic guts all over the place. I knelt down on the carpet and collected what I could before my cat ate any of the pieces. I put everything into a plastic sandwich bag and Googled "Casio Watch Repair." The Google spit back The Time Machine. At the time, I didn't live near the Time Machine so I was shocked to see how absolutely adorable Montrose was. What a cute little shopping street they have on Honolulu Ave. The Time Machine is nestled into a little corner there. I parked right in front and went inside. I showed the guy my sandwich bag full of watch parts, and he said I should just buy a new watch instead of getting this one fixed because a new one would cost less. I was torn. A new watch wouldn't be the same watch. I wanted the watch my grandparents had in their house. But I also wanted to save some money instead of restoring something that was outdated and made fun of by Tommy Rich Kid even back in 1980-something. I got a new Casio watch, basically the same model as the one I had before but slightly different. The new one had Indiglo lighting! Now I could actually check the time in dark places like a movie theater during a particularly shitty movie! Oh, the Time Machine hooked me up. I mean, I guess I could've just gone to Target, too, but it was reassuring knowing how fucked up my old watch was by hearing it from a certified Casio watch repair guy. I went back to the Time Machine another time. This time to buy a Casio watch for my wife. I also asked if they had bands for Timex Weekender watches. Some lady charged me $20 for a piece of shit knockoff wristband that felt like it was made of dead people's toe nails. What a fucking ripoff. Although, I was stupid to have even bought it in the first place instead of saying no way on the spot. She did let me handle the wristband. I'm such a sucker. Argh. Also, this seems like the kind of place where you can negotiate prices. I bet nothing is set in stone. Like they say something costs $30, but they'll give it to you for $25 because it costs them $5 to get it. I forgot to send a copy of my receipt with my camera and priority mailed instead of sending it certified mail so there was no way to track it. Duh... I called The Time Machine daily to check on it's arrival and learned that they receive 60-80 cameras per day! They stayed in contact with me, were VERY polite and called me not only when it they logged it in but connected my emailed receipt with the camera and got it back to me within 2 weeks with a new lens. They even called while working on it to discuss the problem I was having with it. I am so grateful since I thought my mistakes had probably caused me to lose my brand new camera forever. read more

The Time Machine is a dump! This place took my watch for repairs and said it would take a week. I called a week later and the guy put me on hold for quite a while. When he got back he said his tech was not around, but he would either call me later that day, or the next. I did not receive the call back, so today I called again. The guy couldn't find the watch, or work order. He had no idea why I sent it to them. He said he would call me after 4 today when the tech gets in. Sounds like someone lost my watch to me. I will never do business with this company again and I recommend everyone else stay away too. OK, so these idiots were supposed to get back to me today at 4pm. Guess what, no phone call. They are now closed for the evening. Guess who's getting yelled at tomorrow. So these idiots found my watch on Friday. I got back to work to find out that they didn't really clean it even though I paid them to. Also the time wasn't set and the date was wrong. A few hours later I realized that the watch was not working. It had stopped completely. So I paid $55 to have a link removed, that should have cost $5. They have my watch again, I think I made a big mistake letting them have it back to finish the job. They tell me it will take another week to fix it. read more

I sent in my watch along with my camera and the same day I received my delivery confirmation I got a phone call from a nice gentleman with the estimated price for both my watch and camera. I accepted the estimate and gave him my credit card information. I also asked how long it would be before I got them back. He said 2 weeks at the latest because they had to wait for parts to be delivered. I said that would be great because I was leaving for my trip to Cancun in 3 weeks.
